Call of Duty 2
Review by MTAsaiddhey
"Easily the best WWII shooter ever made..."
Every day at lunch, I would have to sit and listen to my friend talk about how awesome Call of Duty was. After a while, I finally decided to get it. But instead of getting the first one, I saw the second one had just came out. I immediately bought it and took it home to play it. That was the best decision of my life. This game not only shocked me on how good it was, it left me speechless. In every aspect CoD 2 is a masterpiece.
Sound
10/10
You are there. The guns are blaring all around you, the grenades explode a few feet in front of you. The sound delivers, and it feels as if your in the game, killing the Germans hoping to survive. Each gun has it's own unique sound, and distinction. Explosions rattle your ears as you scurry to cover. The voices in this game are also solid. The Russians scream commands, and the Germans roar as they charge. The Brit's and American's are also nice, and give you an idea on what they were experiencing.
Bottom Line:
The sound is amazing, and is something you will never not appreciate.
Graphics
10/10
I sincerely hope that you have a good video card, because the graphics are what add on to this game's realism. The character model's are outstanding, including the faces, which aren't scrunched up lines with black dot's. The guns look great, and when shot, provide awesome effects. The level design owns. The Russians battle in the snowy streets, the Brit's duke it out in the desert, and the American's fight through the beaches. While all that I mentioned is great, the lighting is what really stuck out to me. If your battling in a room and start shooting, the room lights up, and creates a scene which at many times I swore was real. Glares and shadows also are abundant, and another amazing aspect of the lighting.
Bottom Line:
The graphics are top of the notch, and make Half-Life 2 seem normal.
Gameplay
10/10
Gameplay is the most important aspect of a game, and Activision clearly knew that. CoD 2 is an intense son of a gun, and never is there a dull spot. Each gun has it's unique and special attributes, and fire just as they should. You have a reticle when your not moving, and you can also look through your sight. While using the sight you become much more accurate. While laying down and crouching, you can become hardly visible, which is excellent when a sniper is in your hands. The campaign is insanely fun, as you play as the British, Russians, and Americans. Each country has it's own set of guns, and different type of terrain you fight on. While the campaign isn't too terribly long, it's still rocks and has tons of replay value. Multiplayer is also great. While no vehicles, it still get's as intense as the campaign. I love it, because of how fast paced it is, and the strategy involved. Be warned: I have never played any of the previous CoD's, and therefore can't judge it to the previous multiplayer.
Bottom Line:
CoD 2 plays and feels like a great FPS. The online will keep you going forever, too.
Overall
CoD 2 is easily the best WWII shooter ever made, because of it's perfect blend of fast paced action and teamwork. This game is DEFINITELY worth every penny.
