Call of Duty: United Offensive

"Most Addicting Game Ever."

I've gotta say, this game is amazing. First off, when the original came out, I didn't even know about it until my friend introduced me to it a year later. I started playing SP and was sucked in for weeks. I got bored soon though of MP however, but for some reason, I just jumped right back in and am still playing it today! Then a while later, the expansion pack, United Offensive, came out and it is by far, one of the greatest expansion packs ever created. Great SP, full of intense action, challenging levels, and varied environments. Addicting MP, tons of servers, plenty of action, balanced gameplay, tons of fun. Time to get to the main points...

Gameplay: 9/10

The game play in this game is simply incredible. You just have to play it to see what I mean. The weapons are great because you actually have to aim down the sight to attack your target, rather than spray and hope you'll get a hit. In singleplayer, there aren't a ton of levels, but they have plenty of action to keep you playing it over and over. The levels are full of intense action and are fairly long, so it won't be a boring experiance.
The multiplayer is where the game shines though. It is definatly the most addicting MP I have ever played and will go on for months and months. You can use every weapon that's in SP, and you can play as Americans, British, Russian, or Germans. There are plenty of maps and gameplays so it won't get boring anytime soon, but I think the original levels are better than UO's, because they aren't very well layed out and it's hard to get lost. But there have been many improvements such as sprinting, vehicles and grenade cooking. So basically, you better have enough time to play this because you won't be stopping for a while. The only reason why I give the gameplay a 9 is because it's kind of like Counter-Strike, where you have to play for a long time before you get any good.

Graphics/Sound: 8/10

I think that the textures and player models in this game are amazing, and just the overall level design is great. The smoke grenades are great, because of the nifty looking smoke, but it's just a 2D texture, and can sometimes go through walls. The explosions, I think, are probably the coolest things about the game. Just grab a panzerfaust and blast the hell out of a jeep or tank and KABOOM. It just looks amazing. The music is really well orchestrated also. Usually after a huge battle, this dramatic sounding music will kick in, and make you feel like you actually achieved something. Sure it sounds kind of lame, but the music is great. The weapon shots and voice acting is also very well done. It makes you feel like you're actually in the war, because there's so much BANG, BLAH BLAH, KABOOM, and CRASH all over the place. Why this section got an 8 was because the graphics are slightly outdated when compared to other games, and the sound can sometimes sound kind of muffled and soft.

Controls/Optimization: 10/10

Perfect controlling and fluid movement. You can remap all the keys if you wish to. The way this game can literally be played on almost any computer is great, because more and more people can play. Sometimes I just wish that all games could play like this...especially Battlefield 2.

Replay Value: 10/10

If I could, I'd give this a 1,000,000/10. I've said it many times, and it's even in the title of this review...IT'S THE MOST ADDICTING GAME EVER. Just consider yourself a virgin for life, and that you don't have a social life, because you'll be playing this forever. Plus, Call of Duty 2 just came out, but I am still waiting for Christmas. No need to worry though, because this game will keep me company.

Just get this game. NOW. It's extremely cheap, ($10-$20) or you could get the original and this for probably $30. It's crazy fun, and it's sure to make you play on and on. Just make sure you don't expect to be amazing your first time playing online though, because that will take patience and practice. Have fun! : )
