Monopoly (1991)
Review by iammaxhailme
"Just as fun as the real game."
Gameplay: 10/10
Monopoly is a Trading game. But it's property, not cards (Well, there are property cards, but whatever). Each player gets some money at the beginning of the game. Then you roll the dice to see how far you go, and you can buy, get or lose a random thing, even go to jail. It depends on where you live. There are cheap places like Baltic Avenue all the way to Ritzy places like the Boardwalk.
Each "street" has its own color. Usually there are 2 or 3 streets in a color set. When you have them all, you can double rent, hence the term "Monopoly". You can also build houses and hotels.
The point of the game is to be the only one left with any money. If you go bankrupt, and don't have enough stuff to sell to get over your debts, you lose. So it's a "business" game as well as a fun game.
It's easy to play the game, too. It's a simply matter of clicking on various buttons. The only thing that might confuse you is Auctioning. When you're in an Auction, when you press the sign for a dollar bill, that puts you a dollar ahead of the highest bidder. It doesn't make you bid a dollar. I accidentally tried to bid 300 when the other guy had bid 278, and I ended up paying a lot more then I intended. Just be careful.
Music: 8/10
There isn't really music in this game. There's a bit of background music that plays whenever anything is happening.
The narrarrator, like the one who asks you if you want to buy something, has a voice. It's a good voice because you can understand them. A problem in some games is that important voices are too gravely or deep.
The different pieces have voices, too. What they say usually corresponds to what kind of piece they are. For example, the Boat, when made to pay a fine, says: "It'll take more then that to sink me! Of course, the Car makes speed jokes, and the dog just barks.
Graphics: 8/10
Well, since Monopoly isn't really a graphical game, this section isn't that important. But the thing that is important is that you can actually read what's on the pieces, buttons, etc. This game isn't that new, so the graphics aren't crystal, but at least the words are clear and not hugely pixilated.
Replay Value: 8/10
You don't really need replay value here, because games can last forever. Still, ever game can be different, so play away!
The best thing about this game is that you can have bot players, in case you don't have anyone to play with, like me. Of course, you can have up to 6 "real" people playing, as well.
