Backyard Football 2002

"My grandparents bought this for my little brother...I played it more than him!"

You want a good football game for your computer right? Just something to pass time, but still is worth the time? Well, don't be drawn back by the cartoonish graphics, music, and announcing/talking by the other players. This really is a good game.

Like I said about the graphics, they are a bit cartoony, but you won't distracted from the game play by the cartoony graphics. Even though they are cartoon-ish, it really is a nice addition to the game.

One of the best aspects of this game has to be the audio. It has catchy tunes whenever you're running the ball for a touchdown. And the announcers are hilarious. Small jokes, and crazy comments that sometimes you don't even know what they are talking about.

In most games, this could be one of the most important part of the game that makes it, or breaks it. The controls in this game are really simple to figure out. It's basically a click of the mouse here, and another click of the mouse there. Not too hard, now is it?

Like most sports games this doesn't have a story line right? WRONG. This actually has somewhat of a story line. After the game there's a paper that they post stats, and where you are in the playoffs, and some stuff about the team.

Now, you all are wanting a feel of how I think the game plays, right? Alright, now get on the end of your seats! Well, basically, the game play is very simplistic. Just a click here and there will get you a tackle, pass, touchdown, etc.. This game is really simple. You can go seasons without losing, depending on who you pick, and your decisions on the field. Now, this leads me to a new direction. In season mode you choose 7 players to play on your team. You get to choose between professional athletes, or the "backyard stars" as I like to call them.

You may want to come back to this game after a season, I sure did. I loved seeing my stats, and wins going up, but that's it. This is the only low part of the game, the reply value.

I'm glad my grandparents bought this for my little brother because I basically got two presents because this game is quite the treat. Anyways, while it lasts, overall it's a quality pick it up, play it straight for a couple weeks, sit it down, and then come back to it a couple months later.
