"Not just another one of "those games""

Star Wars Republic Commando is a very immersing game, with wonderful graphics, sound effects, and story.

Gameplay: 10/10
All of the controls are just where they should be, and are not too complicated. The three difficulty settings really do make a difference, and make the game customizable to just your level. The game has a great story line, and really gets you going so you can't stop. Your team members' AI is very good, and adds a whole new dimension to the game. You send them out to complete tasks for you, back you up, or do just about anything you need them to do. The different worlds that you play in all are very detailed and true to the Star Wars movies. The campaign could have been longer, and made me sad when it ended because I wanted it to keep going on forever. The only problem is that the buttons for your teammate control are slightly out of reach, at F1, F2, F3, and F4, but it isn't too bad.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics realism of this game are amazing. It takes a crazy computer to handle the highest settings, but even on low some of the detail still comes through. Everything from rain to buildings, and from lighting to geonosian goo on your visor are all present and accounted for, and make it seem like you are actually inside the helmet of the commandos.

Sound: 10/10
The sound effects and music of Republic Commando are another amazing part of the game. Some things, like your teammates talking and geonosians screeching are essential, and are perfectly integrated. Other effects, such as footsteps, background noises, and many other small sounds, however non-essential they are, make the game seem even more real. After completing part of the game, you can unlock an inside look at how the sound effects were made, which is very interesting and entertaining.

Replay-ability: 8/10
The campaign can be played a few times over, possibly in the next difficutly level, but it does get a bit repetitive at times. However, the ease and simplicity of the multiplayer gives you an almost unending source of entertainment. Different multiplayer styles, such as capture the flag and a team deathmatch, switch up the game a bit and add another chunk of time that you can spend playing this game. It is also a good game to come back to after playing something else for a while.

Overall: 10/10
Republic Commando is a wonderful game, and is an extremely realistic game. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Star Wars or FPS/RPG games. I think that it is a great game to buy, but you might be able to complete it in a rental session.
