Quest For Glory V: Dragon Fire
Review by Hikan-teki na Rakkan
"Simply astonishing"
This is truly a classic. Even for a Quest For Glory newbie like me, I immediately got into the game without any introduction. The gameplay is simply too magnificent.
The game starts with 3 characters for you to choose: The Wizard, the Warrior or the Thief. Each has a different way of handling their quests and attaining points to their scores. In addition, there is an additional Paladin character in the Import folder waiting for you. So if you're a quest for glory newbie like me, or for any particular reason, like you can't get the entire quest for glory series simply because you're a mac user, you can STILL use the Paladin!
The quests are simply thrilling! You have to think of solutions to get down to certain tasks, just like your normal RPG game. Plus, you can also take part in the Arena and earn some quick cash... by betting on yourself! But its a pity that the betting system places a limit. Of course, if you're a Thief, there would always be plenty of opportunity for you to gain some loot, you can always break into the Silmaria Bank... but be warn though, that there are guards around and that you can only loot the Bank a couple of times. (limits, limits...)
And the best part of the game is that you are able to woo a girl in the game! Ok, not one, but three! I've tried it with the Thief and I managed to get the hearts of Elsa, Nawar and Erana! Way cool!
However, the game does have its minor glitches. Like it would dump you to the desktop leaving you with your wallpaper. There was a time when I tried to swim in the sea and *poof*! Back to desktop! Those were the times! And it would definitely have been better if there was a multiplayer feature! Imagine being able to choose other characters other than the hero himself! That would have definitely make it a better game!
But overall, the game fares a distinction and it definitely deserves replaying! I've played the Thief and Paladin dozens of times and I am still itching for it! It is certainly a memorable game that stays in the depth of your heart. And it was definitely interesting to do the side quests and talk to lion creatures like Rakessh and his son! And of course, the crazy vendor, Wolfie! And visiting the floating castle was just spectacular!
And whenever you're in a bad mood, just find some innocent Silmarian and kill them! But just remember to save... ^^
