SimCity 2000

Review by headbanger

"Not a bad simulation"

Introduction:
SimCity 2000 is a game where you build a city, watch it, and help it grow. You can even destroy it, if you should happen to want to.

Graphics: 7/10
The graphics can’t really get too 3-d without looking odd. This game is probably on that borderline. Although the graphics may hurt your eyes after playing for more than an hour, you will be able to make do with the graphics the game gives you. The terrains and buildings are relatively sharp and sized properly. Each building has its own unique look, which adds to the feel of the game.

Sound Effects and Music: 5/10
The sound effects and music are nothing out of the ordinary. Some of the music tracks are good, but they can become repetitive after a couple of months of listening to them. As for the sound effects, everything has a sound, but the sounds themselves aren’t anything special. You will be able to survive with the sounds the game gives you, though.

City Creation Difficulty: 8/10
It is pretty easy to make a city once you get the hang of it. All you really have to do is just make a couple of trial cities and get used to the simulation. There are many options that will affect the running of your city, so that might take a while to get used to. After that, city creation and management will become almost second nature to you.

Fun Level: 7/10
SimCity 2000 is pretty fun, but there are definitely better simulations out there. You should probably look into newer SimCity games before this one. However, you will spend weeks trying to make your city one of the best possible. But if no one you know has this game, then you will get tired of it a lot faster. I recommend giving it out to some of your friends or suggesting that they buy it.

Internet Resources: 9/10
Should you ever become confused with this game or want help, there are lots of websites on the Internet that will provide you with the help you need. All you have to do is hunt around a little, and you will be happy.

Overall Score: 6/10
The graphics and sound effects are nothing special, but the game is still a lot of fun. My recommendation: Look into newer SimCity games first. If you still want this one, go ahead and download a demo somewhere. Then see if you still like it.
