Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

Review by goldenman

"Before a great game, always a great game."

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are OK, but they are nothing to get thrilled over. But it does look all right, the trees, buildings, water, and shadows all look realistic. At the times where the characters socialize the game has top graphics, but most of the time it is just little sprites running around on a large playing field. You will need a computer with a fast processor and good graphics card to enjoy the graphics in this game.

Sound: 10/10
The sound track in this game is fantastic, but if you have played any other Blizzard games you will know this is nothing surprising. Every sound in this game sounds like you would expect it to sound, the gunshots sounds frightening real, whereas the people talking sound comical. They made sure that every feature had some good sound effects to it. The soundtrack is so good I even found myself just listening to the music, instead of playing the game!

Controls: 7/10
As you know, real time strategy games have a lot of controls, right? Well, this is no different. The controls take some time to master on a keyboard, but they did the best they did to create a keyboard friendly game. I think they could've made the controls a little simpler, but they are ok for a computer game.

Story: 9/10
This game has a surprisingly good story. As with the other Warcraft games you have save a village or destroy a village, depending on what character you play. This game is difficult as with most other strategy games, but you get used to it.

Replay Value: 8/10
The replay value in this game is pretty good. Once you complete the game you can always go back and redo chapters that you have completed before, if you are into this kind of thing you can spend hours replaying chapters you have previously completed. You can also edit your own maps, which is a lot of fun. And, if you are a real hard-core player you can always spend hundreds of hours leveling up your characters and collecting rare items.

Rent or Buy? Buy
This game is a great game for Macintosh and I am sure you will be satisfied with this purchase. If you were a fan of the other Warcraft video games you will definitely want to purchase this game, it is much better than Warcraft II. If you have never played a Warcraft game but like strategy games you will like this game.
