----------------------------------

March 15/05 - Started guide, added Level 0/1 and 2 Buildings

----------------------------------
	2. Introduction
----------------------------------

In Netropolis the main point of the game is to create your own empire by any
means necessary. While attempting to do that you can choose from a variety of
options, including how to dispose of your competitors, defence against nasty
little tricks, and even which buildings you want to gain profit from. There
are several different buildings and each one has their own effects and are
affected by the surroundings. Heres a list of available buildings for you to
choose from. Along with other important information.

----------------------------------
	3. Building Types
----------------------------------

There are 5 categories of buildings:

1. Shops - Retail stores varying in quality.
2. Accommodation - Lodging.
3. Entertainment - Entertainment such as pubs and movie theaters (high profits)
4. Food - Fast food, stands, restaurants, etc.
5. Strategic - Dont earn revenue on their own, they boost surrounding revenues.

Some buildings require a certain HQ level others require a license in order to
build it, that way the whole map is not filled with specialty buildings.

Levels:	0/1 - Starting out
	2 - 50 actions
	3 - 150 actions and $50 000 Cash
	4 - 500 actions and $1 000 000 Cash
	5 - 1000 actions and $10 000 000 Cash

*The previous level HQ must be built before you can upgrade to the next level.

The format is as follows:

Name: The designated name.
Price: How much it costs.
Licenses: When theres a limit to how many of those buildings can be built
in a single city/capital you'll need to get a license. When
theres an available license you can build it.
Level: What level HQ you need to unlock the building. (Where it can be
built, first available location is listed, anything higher also
		allows it).
Desc: The games given description.
Types: (Retail only) - The selection you can choose from.
Other: My own tips.
----------------------------------
	I) Shops
----------------------------------

Name: Market Stall
Price: $1000
Licenses: No
Level: 1
Desc: A very cheap foothold in the retail industry, that reacts slowly
		to market and environment changes.
Types: Fruit and veg, bootleg Hifi's, clothes, wine & beer, buns, meat,
		records
Other: Do NOT buy these stalls, they are worthless and are simply
targets for others. Only use it if you plan on graffiti
		attacking it with another account.

Name: Shop
Price: $4000
Licenses:	No
Level: 1
Desc: The cheapest midrange retail building. Will flourish in most
situations but don't expose to the glitz of the high street
		shops or sales will plummet.
Types: Pet, spam, clothes, off licence, bakers, butchers, records
Other: Best choice for beginners, cheap to build and an average profit.
Not targeted as much as Market Stalls.

Name: High Street Store
Price: $20 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 2
Desc: These glitzy shops can quickly force other smaller outlets out
of business. There is room for up to ten employees to smoke
		outside under the foyer.
Types: Electronics, fashion, food
Other: Best choice for those with extra cash to spare. Good revenue
and one of the least likely choices to be targeted in towns.
With added security such as dogs or guards and a sprinkler
system this building is sure to gain a nice profit.

----------------------------------
	II) Accommodation
----------------------------------

Name: Hotel
Price: $105 000
Licenses:	Yes
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: The epitomy of the accomodation market these high class
buildings attract only the highest class of clients, so keep them away from
anything dirty or cheap.
Other: Like the description says, this is an upscale hotel, so
building it next to a Cardboard City or Market Stall will drive down its
profits and market value. If you can get a license for a hotel, make sure you
add the maximum security.

Name: Campsite
Price: $3000
Licenses:	No
Level: 1
Desc: To cater from those who wish to get away from it all, will do
		best if kept that way.
Other: Best placed by a river or trees. If put by a busy road or in the
middle of several upscale buildings the profit will suffer.

Name: Motel
Price: $12 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: Especially designed for those tired business men who need to stop
over for an hour or two of rest. Will flourish in areas that people can 'ahem'
meet.
Other: Its best not to build these seeing as it can only be built in
cities. And they'll be destroyed quite quickly.

Name: Renovated Offices
Price: $20 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 3
Desc: A property with fairly good returns with various rooms being
rented out for extortionate amounts of money
Other: Great property, it can even be built next to other buildings of
the same type with only a bit of suffering profits. Not nearly as much as other
buildings.

----------------------------------
	III) Entertainment
----------------------------------

Name: Pub
Price: $15 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 2
Desc: Can have high running costs due to the large number of bar
fights that result in no holds barred napalm strikes. Will generally yeild a
high profit however, due partly to the netropolis citizens love of beer, and
secondly to the buxom nature of the girls employed here.
Other: Good if placed around other entertainment and food buildings.
Usually a low profit once you get security for it. Only good if no other
building will fit.

Name: Nightclub
Price: $80 000
Licenses:	Yes
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: The ultimate in chic nightlife the nightclub comes with it's
own security guards.
Other: One of the best license buildings, if theres a nightclub
license available GRAB IT. As if that ever happens though. It comes with its
own guards so you dont need to worry about adding security.

Name: Swimming Pool
Price: $50 000
Licenses:	Yes
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: Very wet, just try dropping a fire bomb on one of these.
Other: Immune to fire bombs, however there is a special attack for
swimming pools. A Shark Attack. It drives down the profits severely. Best to
build near hotels, it'll give both buildings a boost in profits. Immune to
fire attacks, so dont worry about internal security.

Name: Cyber Cafe
Price: $35 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 2
Desc: The latest in must have property, full of high tech equipment
and flashing lights. Wont make too much money initially, until the market
catches up with the hype.
Other: Generally not worth it, one or two near other upscale buildings
will attract several customers but putting it around campsites or other lowscale
buildings will make the profits suffer.

----------------------------------
	IV) Food
----------------------------------

Name: Hotdog Stand
Price: $1500
Licenses:	No
Level: 1
Desc: The cheapest and easiest route into the food industry, keep an
eye out for food poisoning lawsuits however.
Other: Generally okay for newbies. Not the best choice even for the
desperate. Low low revenue but cheap and can be mass builded.

Name: Kebab Van
Price: $4000
Licenses:	No
Level: 1
Desc: You know you're not going to pull when you find yourself outside
Nag Nag of a night. Accompanying this depressing thought is usually a short
hospital stay courtesy of the local lager lads that frequent this area.
Other: Uhhh not a good choice at all. They're generally only a bit
better profit wise than hotdog stands but over 2 times the price. Not worth it.

Name: Burger Bar
Price: $8000
Licenses:	No
Level: 2
Desc: You can get away with paying your workers the minimum wage, but
there is a high staff turnover.
Other: One of the, if not the, BEST buildings in the game. Cheap and
a high profit. It all depends on location, but definitely one of the
cornerstones of any good empire. More on that later.

Name: Manor Restaurant
Price: $20 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 3
Desc: Serving ridiculously small portions of food to only the richest
members of society
Other: It'll either make or break you. It all depends on where you
build. There is a potential for huge profit and a huge loss. If placed near
no other restaurants you can earn anywhere from approx. $2500 to losing $2000.
So choose locations carefully, its a great building depending on how you use it.

----------------------------------
	V) Strategic
----------------------------------

Name: Cardboard City
Price: $1000
Licenses:	No
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: If you leave a place like this around for long enough it will
become a haven for the nearby tramps and alcoholics. It will cost you to keep
them supplied with cheap wine, which is only offset slightly from the mugging
and begging. These places REALLY bring down the tone of the neighbourhood.
Other: Like the description says, this buildings ONLY use is to wreck
the profits of surrounding buildings. It has no practical use, in theory its
a great tool, but in reality theres no way in hell a Cardboard City will be
left untouched in a city for more than a few hours.

Name: Carpark
Price: $6000
Licenses:	No
Level: 1
Desc: Concrete... big slab of. Will attract more business to it's
surroundings, as well as steamed up bouncing cars.
Other: Just like the description says, its not meant to gain revenue
on its own, its meant to help boost revenues of other buildings. Being placed
near High Street Stores and restaurants and offices are sure to boost the
profits quite considerably. Be careful though, it'll do the same for your
competitors.

Name: Multi Storey Carpark
Price: $60 000
Licenses:	Yes
Level: 3 (Cities)
Desc: Very attractive to certain buildings and some depressed
office workers. Avoid the stairwell at all costs
Other: Theres usually licenses available for this building, it works
the same as the carpark just in a bigger scale. Best if built near upscale
buildings like Nightclubs and Hotels.

Name: Hi-Tech Center
Price: $500 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 3
Desc: This building houses your collection of boffins, scientists
and techies. These scruffy individuals work tirelessly through the night to
produce weapons and defences of wonder. Make sure you keep them safe though,
they won't work if the building gets damaged.
Other: Useless in towns, better suited to building it in cities.
Hi-Tech Centers first produce screamers, missiles that security cannot stop,
making you free from arrest. The Hi-Tech Centers are expensive, screamers are
averagely priced, but you'll need a few of them, and if your Hi-Tech Center
gets Destruction Bombed you are out alot of money. Just save it for cities
where it can actually do some good. *NOTE* This building DOES NOT make money,
it LOSES money, because its a research and development facility, you have to
pump money into it to gain something.

Name: Pig Farm
Price: $20 000
Licenses:	No
Level: 2
Desc: Cultivate prime pork in the middle of the city, very handy for
certain food enterprises, but very bad for everything else.
Other: Its best placed near Burger Bars and other food properties,
but placing it near buildings such as offices or retail stores will drive their
profits down. So choose carefully, because if you start lowering someone elses
profit they may decide to take matters into their own hands.

----------------------------------
	4. Parts of the Map
----------------------------------

Yes believe it or not the parts of the map DO affect your buildings. They are
quite important to consider when building properties and planning strategies.

-Trees-	(Not the ones on the outskirts)
Build campsites near them, they represent wooded areas, the perfect
place in real life for camping, and also the perfect place in Netropolis for
building camping sites.

-Water-
Build campsites near them, again in real life they would be ideal for
camping, as is the case in Netropolis. Hotels may have the same effect because
of the view, but thats yet to be proven.

-Dirt Roads-
Unpaved dirt roads are perfect for camping sites. Nice secluded access
for isolated camps. However its not just camps that are suited for this part of
the map. You can also build any type of retail or entertainment building near it
for a boosted profit. Not as much as if it were paved roads, but good all the
same.

-Paved Roads-
The perfect and most ideal place for any type of building. No matter
what you build, the road will boost its profit. (With the obvious exception of
camps)

-Intersections-
A paved road, with almost twice the benefits :)

----------------------------------
	5. Building Strategies/Tips
----------------------------------

- In the game of Netropolis you should consider a 3x3 square when planning out
your buildings.

XXX	O = Your Building
XOX	X = Surrounding Buildings
XXX

When building properties always consider the surrounding area. Do not place two
of the same buildings in the 3x3 square*. Why? Because the profits will be split
up between the 2, 3, or even 4 of the buildings. Bad for business, and bad for
your health. If someone realizes you're the one cutting into their profit, they
may be forced to hurt you :)

* - With the obvious exception of retail stores. The reason almost every map is
covered with High Street Stores? Selection! You can have up to 3 types of HSS's
which is why placing them correctly will earn each of them a great profit. Same
with small shops and market stalls for those poorer towns.

- Always try to build near roads, the more road access the better. Roadside
properties are the hardest to come by because they will give any profit a
needed boost. Dont EVER make a cheap building such as a market stall or hotdog
stand near a road. That just forces people to bomb you. You're wasting valuable
area and no one in Netropolis likes that.

- BURGER BARS ARE YOUR FRIEND! Really, they are. Cheap, profitable, low security
costs, and can be boosted by pig farms. You can hero a town on nothing but
Burger Bars if you do it right. One of the best buildings in the towns, even in
some cities Burger Bars are the buildings of choice for a few users. So build a
few of these and watch your total monthly profit skyrocket.

- Keep Burger Bars and Manor Restaurants far apart. They just cant compete with
each other, one of them will suffer massive profit loss. If Burger Bars
outnumber the Restaurants the Restaurants will suffer, but if Restaurants
outnumber Burger Bars the Burger Bars will suffer. (If this is correct I think
the profits are split up among the building types). So keep them seperated, it
will crush your business if you try to compete.

- Keep an eye out for future heros. What does that mean? Well for instance when
you reach $2 million Net Worth you'll hero the town, leaving massive amounts
of empty land for anyone to claim. So when you see someone has a net worth
over $2 million hang out for awhile and wait for them to be forced out of
city. Tons of free land to be gained.

- If you are in a town dont bother adding security to any building lower than a
Burger Bar. Otherwise add Guard Dogs and Sprinklers. It puts a dent in your
overall profits, but it gives nice protection and encourages other players not
to touch you. If you want to go the badass route, put NO security on ANY
buildings, then if someone bombs one of your buildings, bomb 5 of theirs. After
2 or 3 times its pretty known not to touch you, but you run the risk of someone
actually standing up to you.

- If you are in a city or higher, take out a building, (Its suggested you find a
cheaper building like a motel or pub and take it over), then graffiti attack it
150 times. This will let you build the GOOD buildings without wasting time or
money working your way up. Expect to lose it back to the previous owner though.

- If you are in a city or higher, ALWAYS add full security. (Security Guards and
Sprinklers. Every other building in the area will have it too, but at least it
wont make you any more vulnerable.

- Dont try to start taking out buildings right away in Cities or higher, the
town strategy doesnt work. Use feeders, build up a massive amount of money, then
start small. Even the people with the smallest profits have enough money to
KEEP bombing you to get their properties back. So build up a few million, take
over a few buildings, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, take them back if you lose them.
Its basically a test of patience but eventually someone will have to give. Dont
let it be you.

----------------------------------
	7. Strategic Buildings
----------------------------------

-Carpark-
Build near retail stores and entertainment properties. They boost the
surrounding buildings profit. Same with Multi-Story Carparks. They are do not
generate a decent revenue on their own, so make sure its YOUR buildings that
are profiting, otherwise its a waste of space and money.

-Hi-Tech Centers-
Ah the most expensive and sometimes unneeded but still built building
in the game. With a cost of $500 000 its amazing people bother to build it in
a town where one Destruction Bomb will obliterate it. Yet it happens. Dont be
one of those people. Hi-Tech centers are great for cities and capitals provided
your security can protect it. But in towns it does no good, its easier to find
a building with no security and D-Bomb it. While the screamers and fritzers are
nice its unnecessary and you'll generally need more than one to take over a
building. The nifty tricks may be fun, but are they really worth the price?
Unless you're amazingly rich, then go nuts!

-Pig Farms-
Oink Oink! A fairly rare building even though it benefits alot of
people in towns. Building a pig farm near a burger bar or food property will
increase the buildings profits. Pig Farms themselves earn a nice little profit
but no more than any other building would. Keep in mind when building it not
only will it benefit food properties, it'll lower the profits of other types
of buildings. No one likes having an office with a lovely view of a mudhole.
