YOU are Rather Dashing, a humble peasant living in the kingdom of Peasantry.
You return home from a vacation on Scalding Lake only to find that TROGDOR THE
BURNINATOR has burninated your thatched roof cottage along with all your goods
and services. With nothing left to lose, you swear to get revenge on the
Wingaling Dragon in the name of burninated peasants everywhere.
Hi. This is my first FAQ. As a loyal Homestar Runner fan, I felt that an FAQ
was necessary for this game from the moment I started playing it. So here it
is. Hopefully this will turn out well. Let's get started, shall we?

II. Version History /020
--------------------
-September 19, 2004: Version 1.85. Making some progress. The Things To Get
section is complete, so have a look see at that. All that's left is the hard
one. Some typos were also fixed. Finally, I put in a find navigation system, as
this FAQ is getting pretty big
-September 5, 2004: Version 1.76. Said move is now complete. Not much in this
version besides a minor reference update. More than anything, this is really
just an announcement to say "Hey, this might actually get done sometime soon".
But then again, school is starting, so who knows...
-August 17, 2004: Version 1.75. Yet again haven't started the remaining
extras. I'm gonna be moving soon, and that's been taking up a lot of time. If I
were to guess, I'd say I'll get around to it at the beginning of September. It
might get done before then, but I wouldn't count on it. I have gotten some
emails with some useful information, including a bunch of references and more
info on the map, which was found in a certain useful document, so that's what's
in this update
-August 10, 2004: Version 1.65. Still haven't started the rest of the extras.
Sorry. Came back from a weekend away to find 6 emails about this guide. Some of
them were useful, so those updates are in here, as well as some minor
revisions, including a fairly major one in the FAQ (decided to do use the feed
earlier and get that out of the way)
-August 6, 2004: Version 1.60. Began the Extras section, which is a rather
large section. I've done everything except the useless commands with objects. A
few minor edits here and there as well
-August 5, 2004: Version 1.30. I've gone a little "update happy" since the
last update. There have probably been about 30 minor updates in the past 2
days. Hey, it's my first FAQ, so I'm excited. Added the map, and inserted map
locations throughout the walkthrough. Also added some more Keeper's questions
and a some new FAQs
-August 3, 2004: Version 1.05. First GameFAQs release. A lot of minor updates
over the past 2 days (typos and such). Most importantly, new info on Naked Ned
and the map
-August 2, 2004: Version 1.00. First version of the FAQ. Hosted on my

been there, you should. I'd recommend that site to anyone. After watching the

THE GAME
Q: What are points for?
A: Nothing as far as I can tell, besides letting you know if you missed
anything. I've beaten the game with 150 points, and it was the same when I
beat it with 120 some points, which is around the minimum
Q: How does auto-save work?
A: Simple. Every time you get points, it saves. When you die, you can load from
the last time you got points
Q: What's the deal with the naked guy on the screen with the wavy tree?
A: He goes by the name of Naked Ned. This information is obtained by typing
"talk tree" on that screen, or in one of the Keeper's questions. If you type
"talk man", you'll scare him away, but if you type "talk naked ned", he'll say
a line and disappear. Beyond that, he's useless
Q: Why is there an extra item slot?
A: The common belief is that this slot is supposed to be for the map, which can
be obtained by typing "get map" in your burninated cottage. But due to some
glitch, it doesn't show up in your inventory. That may be right, it may be
wrong, but I'd say it's a pretty good theory
NEW INFO! I have obtained a definite confirmation that the map is in fact the
missing item. In the source code of the swf file, there is a section of code
that contains all of the inventory items. Right between the TrogSword and the
shirt is the map. According to this code, the description of the map is as
follows: "What's brown and brown and read all over? This map!". Now I can't
figure out for the life of me why this glitch occurs, as the code looks
perfectly fine in this section. Maybe it's elsewhere in the code. I might look
into it at a later time. Extra special super thanks to PSOmasterX77, who made
this discovery and provided me with the source code
Q: Do the commands that Strong Bad uses in sbemail110 "for kids" actually work?
A: Yes, "make friends with kerrek", "buy kerrek a cold one", and "quit" all
work, although they do give different messages
Q: [Event\Glitch] used to happen when I did [action], but now it doesn't. Why?
A: It seems that The Brothers Chaps have updated this game a few times. Notice
the version number on the loading screen. That number has changed a few times.
I've noticed 1.4, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8. Chances are they don't want there to be
any glitches, so they fix them when they're found. Popular fixed glitches are
the infinite pills glitch and the second arrow glitch (you can still get the
second arrow, but no points for it)
Q: I got more than 150 points. How?
A: Probably a glitch that will hopefully be updated in a future version of the
game. I'm fairly sure that my walkthrough has all the correct legitimate point
values, so if you got points for something not in there, that's probably the
glitch
Q: I did everything there is to do, but I only got 149 points. Why?
A: As of version 1.8, there's an odd thing involving the archer. If you talk
to him and you don't have the super trinket or mask, he'll only give you 1
point. No idea why that is. Thanks to Muk1000 for helping me research this
Q: Help! Nothing is happening when I type! What should I do?
A: If you go to another window at any time while playing Peasant's Quest, the
game will not respond to anything until you click in the Flash window. Just
click anywhere on the game to get it back. That's a Flash thing, and I don't
know why that is the case
Q: The game freezes when I do [event]. Why?
A: My best guess would be that you don't have Flash 7. If you do, then I have
no idea what's wrong. Flash 7 can be found here:

The Map

Note: North and South are round, but East and West aren't. In other words, you
can go South on D1 to get to A1, but you can't go West on D1 to get to D5

If this is your first time playing, I suggest you read the Tips for
Morons...err, umm, Beginners. These are found at the beginning of the game.
This will give you a basic idea of how the game works. Watch the opening scene,
and then talk to the knight. How do you do this? Simply type "talk knight",
followed by pressing Enter. "talk man" or just "talk" will also work. Talking
to the knight will reveal your goal: Making yourself look like a peasant. After
all, you have been on vacation, so you currently don't STINK like a peasant,
DRESS like a peasant, and you're definitely not ON FIRE like a peasant. And so,
we begin our quest...
Use the 4 arrow buttons to move. Just press them once. If you hold it down,
things get screwy. You are now in section B5. There are a few options for what
to do first. I like to start by going to the Baby Lady Cottage, found in D4. To
get there, go West, South, and South from the Mountain Pass (where you talked
to the knight). You can ignore the man in the boat in C4 for now. Once you
arrive, go up to the door and type "open door". You will now be inside the
cottage. Talk to the woman if you like. Go over to the shelves. If you look at
the shelf ("look shelf"), you'll find that there's a bag of chicken feed there.
You're gonna need this later, so type "get feed" to get the chicken feed (1
point). As far as I can tell, the pillow does nothing, so you can leave the
cottage now. As you leave, the woman will tell you that her baby lost something
in the yard. Hmm. Where would something be lost in this yard? Those bushes look
suspicious, so let's check them out. Go to each bush and type either "get
berries" or "search bush" (you get the same results). Upon searching the last
one, you'll find a Super Trinket (2 points). Go back North to C4. Go to the
center of the Lake's edge and type "use feed". If you get a message about being
in the center of the Lake, reposition yourself slightly and try again. The
fisherman will now be gone, and the Inn will be open, but since you can't do
anything in there yet, let's move on
Now we want to go check out the kingdom well. First, from the Baby Lady
Cottage, go West. You'll arrive at Pebble Lake West (C3). Go to the grey spots
on the sand, and type "get pebbles" (1 point) (note: "get pebble" wont work).
If you get a message about Mr. Fantastic, then slightly reposition yourself and
try again. Now comes the most important part of the game. Type "throw baby" to
get the bottle of soda. What's that? Misread the walkthrough? That can't be
right. Try again. Wait, throw baby? I never said throw baby! You did misread
the walkthrough! I clearly said "then go North and North arrive at the Old Well
(A3)". Geeze, you don't listen, and then you complain. Walk up to the well, and
type "put pebbles in bucket" (2 points). Then type "use crank" to get the
Maskus. Scare a horse, eh. Let's go do that now
First, go South (B3) and talk to the archer (you need to be in front of him).
"talk", "talk man", or "talk archer" will work. He'll tell you what to say to
his brother (2 points). So let's go find that horse. He's at A1, so go West,
West, and North to find it. Type "use mask" or some variation of the item name
(2 points). The horse will break through the fence. Go through the newly opened
passage to find another archer (A0). You guessed it: It's the first archer's
brother. Do you remember what to say to him? You don't!? *sigh*. It's haldo. So
simply type "haldo" to get the archer to go back to his brother (3 points).
Once he is gone, go up to the tree and type "get arrow" (2 points). Go back to
where you met the first archer (B3, East, South, East, East) and talk to the
archers. They ask of a super item from you. How convenient, you just happen to
have a Super Trinket (paragraph 2 of the walkthrough, if your just joining us)!
Sounds pretty super to me. Type "give trinket" (2 points), and the archers will
let you play the mini game.
You have 5 arrows, and you need to hit three bullseyes. Here's how to do it.
See that stick in the background with the flag on it? That tells you about the
wind. There are 5 degrees of wind: No wind (flag straight down), slightly
left/right (flag about 45 degrees to either direction), and very left/right
(flag horizontal to either direction). Move the bow to a position that
corresponds with the wind. No wind: right in the middle. Slight wind: Around
the inner white circle. Strong wind: in the middle of the outer white circle.
Now, press space to start the shot. The arrows will start to go up the power
bar. Your goal is to stop both arrows on the red line by pressing space.
While the arrows go up, stop the first arrow (the left one) on the red line.
On the way down, stop the right one. If the arrows are aligned, and you
positioned your bow well, then you should hit the bullseye. Lather, rinse,
repeat until you hit three of them. If you don't get three of them, you'll
return to the archer screen. Simply type "play" to try again. When you get 3 or
more bullseyes, you'll be rewarded with a SuperTime FunBow TM (3 points)!
We can now use this to kill the Kerrek
If you're just joining us and you haven't gotten the arrow yet, refer to
paragraph 4 (2 paragraphs up) of the walkthrough to find out how. Now that we
have the bow and arrow, we can finally kill the Kerrek. The Kerrek can be found
randomly in 2 locations: A2 and C4. The closest one to you is A2, to the West,
then North. If he's not there, leave the screen and come back until he is
(note: don't leave and come back to the East, as the Kerrek appears close to
there and will probably kill you before you get a chance to kill him). When you
see him, you'll have a few options on how to kill him. Quickly type either
"kill kerrek", "smote kerrek", or "use bow" (note: you can also pre type it on
the previous screen, and then just press enter when you see him). No matter
what you type, you will get the same message and kill the Kerrek with your bow
(5 points). Hurray! It will also start to rain. If you look at the Kerrek, you
will find that he has a stinky belt buckle. So either "get belt" or "get
buckle" (10 points). Congratulations! You now stink like a peasant!
So did you by any chance notice the dry patch of mud directly South of where
you just smote the Kerrek? Well that is now a wet patch of mud. So head
South (B2) and walk right into the mud. You'll slip, fall, and become muddy (2
points). Head West (B1) to find the bale of hay. Looking at the hay suggests
that you hide in it, so type "hide" to do so (3 points). You're now a walking
hay bale! If you go North or East, the hay will blow off of you. Just slip in
the mud and hide in the hay again. So head South to find the Jhonka (C1), who
is now there since the Kerrek is dead. Also on the screen is a pile of riches.
If you talked to the Baby Lady, you might remember that her riches were stolen
from her by the Jhonka. So walk up to the riches and type "get riches". The hay
will blow off, and the Jhonka will ask you if you took his riches. You won't be
able to move until you answer, so type "no" (7 points). Typing "yes" will
result in your death. Now let's go and return that woman's riches
From the Jhonka's cave, go West, West, South, and West to D4. Go into the
cottage ("open door"), and type "give riches". Long story short, you'll end up
with a baby (5 points)
<Note: The next section is only necessary for those who want to get 150 points.
If not, skip down to the next paragraph>
Head North, then East to the Inn (C5). Go in ("open door"), and type "show
baby". This will get you the pills (5 points). Leave the Inn, and go West, West
to C3. Go to the middle of the Lake's edge again, and type "throw baby" to get
the soda (5 points). If it tells you to go to the center, reposition yourself
and try again. Head South, South to the well (A3). Go up to the well and type
"put baby in bucket" (3 points). "use crank" to get the meatball sub (2
points).
Your next destination is the knobless cottage (D1). From the well, head West,
West, and North. From the Baby Lady's Cottage, head West, West, and West. Once
there, go up to the cottage and type "get stone" to remove a stone from the
house (2 points). Now type "use baby", and watch the house open and the baby
disappear (5 points). Enter the cottage, go up to the dresser, "open dresser",
"get robe" (10 points), and for an extra point, "close dresser" (1 point).
Finally, "use robe", and you're now dressed like a peasant (3 points)!
Our next destination is the Inn (C5). Leave the cottage, go East, East, East,
East, and North to find the Inn. If you've just joined us, and you're looking
for a way to open the Inn, check 3 paragraphs up. Go into the Inn ("open
door"), and talk to the man to find your next command, "get a room" (3 points).
When you wake up, you'll notice that the pantry is open. Looking at the pantry
will reveal that there is a pot of horse grease. So walk up to the pantry and
type "get pot" (2 points). The pot will fall on your head, and the controls
will be screwed up. Up goes Right, Down goes Left, Right goes Up, and Left goes
Down (thanks to piroteknix04 for confirming this). Make your way out of the
Inn. You'll take the pot off once you're outside (3 points). Head South (D5)
and walk into the lantern hanging from the tree. Now you're on fire like a
peasant (10 points)! So now that we're a complete peasant, let's go back to our
knight friend.
Head North and North to find him at B5. Use some sort of talk command, and
he'll let you pass (7 points). Head East, and you'll be given 2 messages to
insert Disk 2. Ignore the messages and move on. Move up to the wall and type
"climb". You'll now be climbing the cliff. Avoid the rocks and birds as you
head up (note: you wont see any birds unless you hang around for a little
while). You'll soon be at the top (3 points)
Go into the cave. Move forward (right) and you'll be stopped by the first
Keeper of Trogdor. Depending on whether you did the Baby side quests or not,
each Keeper will either ask you a question or ask for an item. The questions
are random, so scroll down a little bit for a list. If you did the side quests,
the first Keeper will ask you for the meatball sub. "give sub" for the Trog-
Shield (5 points). Move on until you are stopped by the second Keeper. "give
soda" for the Trog-Helmet (5 points). Move on to the final Keeper. "give pills"
for the Trog-Sword (5 points). If you didn't do the side quests, then each
Keeper will ask you a random question (each answer gives you 5 points). Simply
type the letter of the answer (a, b, or c). They're pretty easy, but here are
some of the questions:

Now that you have the Trog-Equipment, head through the now open bead curtain to
find the burninator himself: TROGDOOOOOOR!!! If you approach him, he'll
burninate your ass, so don't move and either "use sword" or "throw sword" (7
points). <optional>After the next message, quickly type "talk trogdor" for an
interesting conversation (10 points)</optional>. And that is it. You have
beaten Peasant's Quest. Now sit back and enjoy the ending! And no, you can't do
anything once you get to the last screen

Throughout Peasant's Quest, there are many commands that are unimportant to the
continuation of the game. However, many of them are there for a good laugh. We
call these commands "Easter Eggs", as they are hidden, and it's your goal to
find them. In Peasant's Quest, there are many of these eggs, probably well over
100. The Extras section of this FAQ primarily consists of a list of these eggs.
I've divided this section into six categories: Things to look at, things to
get, ways to die, useless commands with objects, useless commands in general,
and references.
An important thing about this section is credit. There's a problem with this,
as many of the eggs are found, posted, or emailed to me by many different
people. It would be very difficult to determine who the first person to find a
certain egg. Therefore, I've decided that credit will be a rarity in this
section. Many of them came from the message boards, although I did find a good
amount of them on my own. For now, the only ones that will get credit are the
really obscure ones that I've only seen from one source. Once coming up with a
new egg becomes rare, I'll start giving credit. So to sum it up, I neither take
nor give credit for this section. So, on with the extras!
UPDATE! I have obtained an extremely powerful document: The Peasant's Quest
source code. Hidden within this code is every message found in the game. I hope
to use this to help find every hidden message and put them all in this FAQ.
This will take a while, as it's a 184 page word document, so don't expect a
complete update anytime soon. I have already used it to find some new things to
look at though. So let's get to it...

This section makes use of the "look" command. Sometimes looking at something
will inform you of what to do next, but at other times, it's just plain funny.
Basically what I'm gonna do is list everything that can be looked at by area.
The format will be as such...
A0 Hidden Glen: archer (before he leaves), tree, arrow (before getting one),
arrow (after getting one), fence, bush
This means that in Hidden Glen, map area A0 (based on my map, which is pretty
much the same as the game's map), you can "look tree", "look fence", "look
bush", etc. If there's a condition to how you can look at something, it's in
parenthesis. So, let's begin...
-Anywhere: You can just type "look" to get a description of the area. Sometimes
it's the same as looking at a certain item. map (before you get the map), map

Going through the Useless Commands (objects) section (mentally, of course), I
came to the realization that a lot of them had to do with the "get" command. So
I decided that there should be a separate section for it. There are
significantly less uses of the get command when compared to the look command,

-Get hit by a boulder or bird
-Answer a Keeper's question incorrectly
-Approach Trogdor
-"die"
-Attempt to physically harm Gary (you've got a lot of options here)
-Walk in between Dongolev and the tree
-"get arrow" before Dongolev leaves
-Put the baby in the bucket, and then leave the screen before using the crank
-After moving the stone from the mysterious cottage, type "cut off arms, legs,
and head". After the message from that command, type "try"

One of the many blatant Homestar Runner references that seemed so obvious that
I unintentionally skipped over it until someone emailed me about it (in this
case, thanks to MatthiasNC). Killing the Kerrek informs you that he has been
ARROWED, a clear reference to the first issue of Teen Girl Squad, found here...

If you type "get plague" near the burninated trees, you'll get a message saying
"Wrong game". "get plague" comes from Thy Dungeonman 2, linked above
-Fishing Challenge
If you try to get the boat after you use the feed, there will be mention of a
Fishing Challenge game. This is most likely referring to Fishing Challenge '91.
This can be found in a Strong Bad email, but it's a little tricky. At the end
of the email, click on "fishing" to play. The email can be found here:

-Dragonheart
If you talk to the knight without any peasant requirements, he will call you
Dragonheart, referring to the movie. I haven't seen it, so I don't know if
there's anything specific about the movie referenced
-Matthew Broderick
If you talk to the knight with just a belt, he'll call you Matthew Broderick,
referring to the actor. I think TBC are trying to imply that Matthew Broderick
stinks, just like you do at the time. Further evidence suggests that this could
specifically refer to the movie Ladyhawke, "in which MB played a peasant-type
guy", so says Rattlehead. Another movie I haven't seen
-Dirk the Daring
If you talk to the knight with the belt and the robe, he'll call you Dirk the
Daring, the character from Dragon's Lair. Haven't played it, don't know if
there's more meaning to the reference
-Q-Baby
When you use the baby to get into the cottage, you get the message "Deploying
Q-Baby". Sources tell me that this is a reference to the James Bond game
Everything or Nothing, as a remote controlled robot called Q-Spider is used in
this game
-Zelda
Throughout the game, your save file will gradually gain hearts. This is a
reference to games in the Zelda series, in which you gain hearts as you
progress in the game, and they're displayed on your save file
-Kid Icarus
When you kill the Kerrek, the message will mention Kid Icarus. Kid Icarus is an
NES game involving an angel with a bow and arrow
-King's Quest 5
Searching the hay returns the message "You search and search through the
haystack. Nope. No needles". According to a (not so) mysterious source who
refers to himself as Devin, this is a reference to the game King's Quest 5.
"There is a haystack in that game that you can search. At first you won't find
anything in there, but later you get ants to help you, and you find a golden
needle". Works for me
-Microsoft PowerPoint
When you get a room at the Inn, night will fade like a bad PowerPoint
presentation, referring to a slide transition in Microsoft's program, which
often looks like crap
-Magic: The Nerdening
Looking at the picture in the Inn will tell you that the dogs are playing
Magic: The Nerdening. This is a reference to the popular card game Magic: The
Gathering. This also refers to that painting of the dogs playing poker. A nice
thank you to whoever sends me details of the painting I'm talking about
-South Park
Looking at the Kerrek as a skeleton will give you the line "He wasn't fat, he
was just big boned!", referring to a popular line from the tv show South Park
-Crunch Berries
I always thought looking at the berries said that they were "Church berries",
so I thought nothing of it. Someone recently pointed out that it says "Crunch
berries", which probably refers to the Captain Crunch cereal
-Sweet Child of Mine
Looking at the bale of hay will display a line from Guns N' Roses's "Sweet
Child of Mine"
-Break on Through
When you scare Gary, it says that he broke on through to the other side. This
is a line taken from the song by The Doors
-Rock of Ages
Looking at the rock in the stream will give you a message with the line "Still
a-rollin". I'm told this is a reference to the Def Leppard song Rock of Ages,
which contains these lyrics: "Rock of ages, rock of ages, still rollin, keep a-
rollin"
-Turn Turn Turn
Hugging the tree at That Hay Bale will give you this message: "To every thing,
turn, turn, turn. There is a season, turn, turn, turn." I think this is a song,
and I have a strange feeling that it's by Gordon Lightfoot (see SBEmail 93,
army), but it turns out I was wrong. The song is by The Byrds. But even after
posting this update, I still got yelled at in a few emails, so I finally went
to the one source that would be sure to answer this mystery: my dad. And so
says dad: "Turn, turn, turn was written by Pete Seeger of the folk group 'The
Weavers' in the 1950s. It became popular when it was recorded in the late 1960s
by The Byrds". Dad hath spoken, and the answer hath become clear
-Caddyshack
I'm told that typing "drink" makes a reference to the movie Caddyshack. I hate
to admit this, but I've only seen it once, and that was a few years back, so I
don't exactly understand the reference
-Gollum
If you give anything to the Jhonka, he'll tell you "Don't need nothing from no
filthy peasantses!!", referring to the way Gollum speaks in the Lord of the
Rings movies
-Charlie Brown
Looking at the tree in A4 will give you the message "It's Arbor Day, Charlie
Brown!", referring of course to the classic cartoon
-William Tell
When you walk in front of the archer's arrows and die, you'll get a message
about William Tell, the famous archer who shot an apple off of his son's head
-Mr. Fantastic
If you attempt to get the pebbles while you aren't right on top of them, you'll
get a message about your Mr. Fantastic impression. Mr. Fantastic is from a
comic book called The Fantastic 4, and I believe he had the ability to stretch
his limbs far distances
-Secret of Monkey Island
According to tim333, the opening dialogue between Rather Dashing and the knight
is very similar to a bit in the game The Secret of Monkey Island where Guybrush
is told three ways to be more like a pirate. "The dialogue is so similar, in
fact, that this is definitely a reference". Good enough for me
-Cool Ranch
Looking at the feed tells you that they are Cool Ranch flavored, which is a
flavor of Doritos
-Schlage
Messing with the lock on the Jhonka's door will give you various messages about
Schlage. I've been informed that Schlage is a lock manufacturer, and that
they're famous for making extremely strong locks
