What is the best f2p place to mine iron ore?

Clearly mining guild rocks for coal.

But iron ore?

Just outside the mining guild is a fairly lucrative iron deposit. So that would be your best bet for an iron mine in close proximity to the bank.

If your goal is to raise your mining level, then I would suggest you go to either the mine south east of Varrock, or the one north of Al-Kharid.

If your aim is the money or smithing portion of mining iron and somewhere to actually store the iron ore after you've mined an inventory full, I'd say the best place would be South of Varrock, but there are ore stealers there and it's almost always pretty crowded. Another place would be South of Lumbridge since noone ever goes there anymore, and the shortcut was developed, allowing you quick and access banking, though it's a bit further from the bank compared to Varrock.
If your aim is just powerlevelling, I'd say the Dwarven Mine - if you're high levelled enough not to get hit by the scorpions there, or Al Kharid since it's not really crowded there, and you can stand in one spot to mine 3 iron ores.

Answer

For Coal, Barbarian Village
For Iron, North of Rimmington (South of Falador) or South East of Varrock

Those are my usual places.

Answer

For power-mining, I used Rimmington mine while I was F2P, because of the lack of competition. For banking, I'd advise you to either use southeast varrock or the end of the dwarven mine by the mining guild underground entrance.

If you don't need the exp. buy the iron in ge or in dwarf mines, i always mine iron in dwarf mines in pvp because there no one there.

Answer

There is always south-west of lumbridge swamp, if you find a world with few people, like clan wars worlds, there is alot of coal there, and few people, plus the bank is a short walk away.

The Al-Kahrid Quarry is the best, as there is three rocks of iron next to each other. Its a bit hard to get a free spot/ world, but you can find one within 5 minutes.

Answer

For exp, I say Rimmington is the best, as there is plenty of rocks and is usually quiet. For banking, the scorpion area of the dwarven mines is the best, but is usually fairly busy, so only good if you have a high mining level. If not, I say Rimmington or Varrock.

Answer

There are indeed a set of two iron rocks outside the mining guild. Exit the door, and head staight ahead. There should be 2 rocks there, unless jagex has screwed something up, yet again.

The best place is the northern part of Al Kharid since there is a close bank and furnace.

Answer

Not the best but i mine my iron and coal here lately. Go to the lumby tin and copper mining spot and head straight west you will see the spot. It's not the most efficient but I use it some days.
