RuneScape
Review by hentaifever
"This game is free. But is it worth playing still?"
I first played this game about two years ago. Honestly all I did was go around insulting people, beg for free stuff, try to sell a chef hat I found on the ground for 900 gold pieces, and try to PK threaten people even though I was a level 1 and didn't even know if PKing was implemented or not. Well, long story short, I didn't play for more than fifteen minutes. One and a half years pass by and I never even heard the name Runescape again. Then I come to Gamefaqs and find the Runescape board and decided to give the game another try. Hmmm what is this? a tutorial mode? Oh, I see, the problem was that I didn't know what in the heck i was doing previously. But after the tutorial mode I actually knew how to play.
Graphics: Sucky
No, I cannot draw any better but still this is a semi-commercial game that some people pay money for. When you charge people cash for a game then you should at least make it look good. Fortunately a 3d upgrade is coming soon. The 3d stuff still looks ugly, but it's better than nothing, eh? So if for some reason that you cant play simply cuz the graphics suck, then watch out for the 3d upgrade.
Sound: None
There's no sound so I can't grade it. Just listen to your fave music or whatever. I prefer Bach, being the classy individual that I am.
Gameplay: Boring. But lots of room for upgrades
Playing the actual game isn't fun. But reaping the rewards of ''hard work'' (aka/ wasted time) is fun. Getting to wield your first Rune 2h sword is fun. Having to spend two weeks getting to level 40 is not fun. The actual game isn't very fun because everything is so repetitive. But then again this is a MMORPG, so I'm grading this considering that it's a MMORPG. All MMORPG's are boring to actually play. Their redeeming features are showing off with your l33t gear, chatting with others, and grouping. Well, in Runescape everyone and their mother has rune equipment so you're gonna have to work your ass off for party hats. This game is free: that means that kids who couldn't get their parents credit card number to sign up for everquest are gonna flock to this game. When little boys are given the freedom of anonymity, you better watch out. Grouping is nonexistant in this game. The only grouping possible is to ''range'' as people put it. Shoot arrows and exclaim ''nice'' when you see someone get a high ranged hit... as if that required ''skill'' LMAO.
Community: i'm grading this because it's an important factor of MMORPG games.
The RuneScape community is very bad. There are immature kids every where you turn. 12 year old PK ''pures'' who actually think that PKing in a MMORPG requires this thing called ''skill''. Get a clue... (Counter-strike and virtua fighter 4, those games require SKILL). And scammers crowding the market place. Oh, and you can't forget the virtual transvestites. You know who you are sickos. There are also a lot of disturbed male individuals who like to wear pink skirts and follow you around asking if you want to be their ''bf''. Anyway, of course there are some nice people out there. Such as myself. I'm a great guy. I've been known to donate logs of wood and iron daggers to those in need.
OVerall, I guess I would actually recommend this game to you but only if you have like literally NOTHING to do all day and are broke. There will be moments when this game will be kinda fun. Like when you kill the green dragon and can wear that rune plate armor. Only to realize how pointless it has been to waste your time on this game. Then you'll probably stop playing. Well, that was my experience anyway. Seriously, while you're playing this game just try to imagine your face looking into the monitor. It'll be as dead and dull as a doorknob. It's probably because you're not having fun. Addiction doesn't always come from ENJOYMENT. Try to understand that before it's too late.
