Tibia
Review by muska121
"This game will bore you to pieces."
After spending a great deal of time in Tibia, it gets fairly boring, mindless leveling up, besides that, there’s not much left to do.
Story: (0/10)What story? There is no story at all, all there really is, is some big island, and monsters to slay. Sure there are some books you can read, and what little mini-stories there are, are very boring. Most games like this have some kind of folklore or something to keep the player to want more.
Game play: (5/10) The game play itself is pretty boring, most of the time, you’ll spend hours, maybe even days preparing for a hunt, and maybe only hunt for a few hours. You see the way you prepare, is by making magical runes, these runes have spells in them, allowing basically anyone to cast damaging or healing himself or herself. Making these runes take a long time, and it’s really the only way to level up. For example an average time to make a backpack (20) Ultimate Healing runes, takes about 6 hours. It’s not fun to do, but it is always a way to make money, since you can sell them for a hefty amount. Another thing is, the community itself, is not friendly at all. Tibia basically has no rules. So people kill others for stupid reasons, like being AFK (Away from keyboard), insulting someone, or just because they feel like killing. Also there are many thieves around, that will steal your kill, or loot that you get. Basically if you’re not a high level, they own you. There is also a lack of monsters, and they are really not that hard to kill, at level 30, I could kill demons with a blocker. After about level 30, you basically find yourself doing the same thing over and over. Making runes, fight, make more runes, fight again; it’s not fun at all. There are also no quests you can do, since each quest can only be done once, and by one person only. So quests are basically non-existent. But aside from that, the game has a pretty good battle system, easy to learn without much trouble. Although there are only four vocations, or classes are most people know them. The four vocations are; knight, paladin, druid, and sorcerer. The knight is good at hand-to-hand combat, paladins are good at distant fighting (bows and crossbows), druids can make ultimate healing runes (which sell for lots), and sorcerers can deal the most damage. The few months that I played Tibia were some what fun at times, but the majority of the time it was boring. I give it a 5.
Graphics: (6/10) The graphics are very crisp, they’re simple, hand drawn graphics, nothing fancy at all, but simplicity works well for this game. They’re fairly nice for a free-MUD. I give it a 6.
Sound: (n/a) There is no sound, at all, nothing, not even a “twack!” or “tink!” when you attack. No sound makes the game feel empty, but it doesn’t make the game any worse than it already is, it would be unfair to base this game on sound or music. Just play you own MP3 play list in the background.
Final Judgment (4/10) This is a good free game, you don’t see many of these around. But it defiantly has some work to be put on, the world you play on, is entirely too small, and the variety of monsters is also limited. And to get any of the best items, and spells, you have to be a premium member, which gets your access to much better stuff, in my opinion, it’s not really worth it. But give the game a chance, it may be for you, but it’s not for me. I give it a final 4 out of 10.
