Kingdom of Loathing is without a doubt, the BEST. ONLINE. RPG. EVER. There's no point in disagreeing. Just go on the website and you'll thank me. Seriously. It's free and makes fun of pop culture. What more could you ask from a game? It's a turn-based RPG with crude stick-figure graphics. If that's not your thing, crawl back to Runescape.

Graphics: 6/10

Kingdom of Loathing doesn't really have graphics. But the stick figures are neatly drawn and the graphics at the end of the game will blow your mind. Who plays for graphics anyways?

Gameplay: 10/10

Yes, the gameplay is the meat and potatoes of the game. It seems absolutely stupid and unbearable at first, but when you get into it, you'll never stop playing. Where else can you smash drunken rats or build your own car... out of meat? The gameplay is quirky and hilarious. You'll love it. Ascension also brings a lot of depth to the game and will keep you hooked on. PvP is optional, meaning if you choose not to PvP, you won't be harrased by higher level players, which is annoying in other RPGs. The adventure limit may be annoying at first, but trust me, if it weren't for the adventure limit, you'd be playing all day.

Community: 10/10

The gameplay may be the meat and potatoes, but you'll stay for the community. This is one of the few games where the playerbase isn't stupid. There are n00bs, yes, but they're rare. The people here tend to be intelligent because most people find it too silly or sophisticated. You can't help but laugh at the wackiness you'll find in the chat or the forums. There's a lot of newbie-helping philanthropists in the community. You might be thinking of quitting because of the lag, or if the gameplay isn't deep enough, but trust me, the community will be begging you to stay, and you'll keep playing.

Lag:

Ah, this is one of the weak points in the game. Because of the growing playerbase, lag is not uncommon. There is less lag, however, than most games.

Also:

You can use a Gnollish Autoplunger as a weapon. How cool is that?

Pay to Play?

No. Most online games, like Runescape, bug you about paying to get benefits, and P2Pers tend to be the more powerful players. Well, in KoL, it's different, you don't P2P, you donate. You do get gifts from donating but you don't BUY them, you donate, and that's a world of difference.

All in all, Kingdom of Loathing is a great game and I suggest you give it a try. You won't regret it, trust me. You'll love it. You'll be playing it and you'll never quit. My in-game name is nafajo if you have any questions.
