1. Why I made this guide
I made this guide mainly because I have already made an extensive Sega CD
game list which crossed over into the Sega CD 32X games. I figured that
most people who collect Sega CD or Sega Genesis games also have a Sega 32X.
I felt the need to compile a list of all the games released for the short
lived system. There are only 39 total games that I am aware of. While
there are some semi-decent lists out there, none of them include release
dates and packaging information. I intend to have all this information
eventually. I gathered this information from various sources including
Gamepro Magazine, Game Informers Magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly
Magazine, and many websites. If you have any information regarding
packaging or release dates, please let me know at Arguro@hotmail.com. The
following is a list of all games across the three main markets (US, Japan,
and Europe/Australia).

3. Rumored Games
I added this section because the system flopped before very many games
were released. As such, there were a lot of games in development or at
least planned. I added this section because prototypes more than likely
exist in some form. What you will find listed here are many different
games. It is possible these games may have come out under a different name.
A lot of planned games on the 32X were released on the Sega Saturn. The
following information was gathered from a variety of sources.
32X-Treme
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by Sega. On page 38 of the August
1995 issue of Gamepro, there is a screen shot of this game. Also on the
page is a one liner about the game: "Garage roller hockey, paintball
snowboarding and more." The game appears to be one that combines different
extreme "sports" into new ones.
Adventures of Hollywood Spot, The
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by Virgin Interactive.
Alien Trilogy
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Alien Trilogy
is listed there and is said to be made by Acclaim. The game does exist on
the Saturn and Playstation.
Alone in the Dark 2 32X CD
This game is listed in an advertisement on page 193 of the December 1995
issue of Gamepro Magazine under the 32X section. Supposed to retail for
$52. Game does exist on the 3DO. This game is also listed in an
advertisement in the December 1995 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly on
page 256. In the March 1995 issue of Gamepro, on page 144, there is a small
article on this game. The article shows three screen shots and says the
game will be available in the second quarter of 1995.
Apache
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is
a feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Apache is
listed there and is said to be made by Domark.
Batman Forever
In the June 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 18 there is a
section about upcoming releases. Batman Forever is listed here and is
said to be made by Sega and MGM Grand Studios.
On page 38 of the August 1995 issue of Gamepro, this game is mentioned as
an upcoming game that was seen at E3. This says it is to be made by Acclaim
(which made other Batman Forever games).
Casper
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by Interplay. Also listed in the
October 1995 issue of Game Players Magazine on page 37 in upcoming games.
It says it would have a Quarter 4 release and also be released on the
Saturn, 3DO and Playstation.
Castlevania
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Castlevania is
listed here. Said to be made by Konami. I would like more information
about this game. If you have any screen shots, please send an e-mail my
way. Thanks.
Clay Fighter 2
This game is listed in an advertisement on page 193 of the December 1995
issue of Gamepro Magazine under the 32X section. Listed for $44. This game
is also listed in the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine on page
12 as an upcoming release in February of 1995. Said to be made by
Interplay.
College Basketball
On page 65 of the October/November 1994 issue of Sega Visions Magazine
there is an ad for the Sega 32X and this game is listed as one that is
coming out. Even though it is listed on Gamefaqs, from what I can tell, it
does not exist. On page 31 of the August 1994 issue of Gamepro Magazine
there is a short sentence of upcoming games in 1995, this is one of them.
This game is also listed in an advertisement on page 139 of the September
1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine.
College Basketball's National Championship Hosted By Billy Parker
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." This is listed
there. This could be the same title as College Basketball above, but this
is the first time I have seen a game by this title. Until I get further
information, I will keep these as separate titles. Said to be made by Sega.
Converse City Ball Tour
On page 37 of the October 1995 issue of Game Player's Magazine, there is a
section about games that are "In the Works." This is listed there.
Supposed to be made by Virgin Entertainment and released in the last quarter
of 1995. On page 121 on the July 1995 issue of Gamepro, there is a small
feature on this game. 4 screen shots are shown and a few sentence write up
is offered. Supposed to have hand drawn animation and feature 3 on 3 play.
Also supposed to be released for the Genesis, Saturn, SNES, Play Station and
PC. As far as I can tell, not one version ever was released. Made by
Virgin Interactive Entertainment
Cyber Brawl
In the August 1994 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 31 there is a
picture of the box art of Cyber Brawl. The caption reads, "This fighting
game's a robot rumble." Supposed to come out in 1995.
Ecco The Dolphin
On page 31 of the August 1994 issue of Gamepro Magazine there is a short
sentence of upcoming games in 1995, this is one of them. In the December
1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a feature on the
32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the expected titles that
are "fairly definite for US release." Ecco is listed there and is said to
be made by Sega.
Golf
In the December 1995 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, on page 256,
there is an advertisement for games. This is listed under the 32X section.
Hoops
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Hoops is listed
there and is said to be made by Virgin Entertainment.
Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings
In the March 1995 issue of Gamepro on page 147 there is a very brief look
at this game. Two screenshots are shown (however, it does not say for what
system they are for). The 32X version is supposed to be available in June
of 1995.
Judge Dredd
In an E3 review in the August 1995 issue of Gamepro, page 38, this game is
said to have been announced. Supposed to be made by Acclaim.
Kingdom: Far Reaches
In the January 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 212, there is a
small column about CapDisc/Capitol Multimedia being a new developer for the
32X. This
is one of the games they were supposedly working on. It was to be an "RPG
set in ancient times that features 33 minutes of animated adventure, 45
minutes of dialogue, and 40 minutes of sound and music." I believe this to
be a 32X CD game because of the amount of sound and animation in the game.
Midnight Raiders 32X CD
In the August 1994 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 31, there is a
picture shown of Midnight Raider's 32X CD game. It is obviously an upgrade
of the Sega CD game. Supposed to be "in the works for '95!" On page 7 of
the February/March 1995 issue of Sega Visions, there is a very small picture
of the box art for this game. It is covered up partially by that of
Fahrenheit 32X CD but the name of the game and the side part can be seen.
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Midnight Raiders
CD is listed there. Said to be made by Sega.
NBA Action '96
On page 37 of the October 1995 issue of Game Players Magazine, there is a
list of games that are "In the Works." NBA Action '96 is listed here and is
said to be made by Sega and would be released in Quarter 4.
NFL Trivia Challenge
In a small column in the January 1995 issue of Gamepro magazine, on page
212, there is talk about a new developer for the 32X called CapDisc/Capitol
Multimedia. One of the games they were supposed to be working on is NFL
Football Trivia Challenge. The game is supposed to feature 1500 trivia
questions and be narrated by Pat Summerall and Tom Brooksheir. Even though
it doesn't say either way, I believe this to be a 32X CD game as that is
what CapDisc/Capitol Multimedia is known for.
Power Rangers 32X CD
In the December 1995 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, on page 256,
there is an advertisement for games. This is listed under the 32X section.
Primal Rage 32X CD
In the September 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 139 there is an
advertisement for games. Under the 32X section this game is listed as
"Primal Rage CD" Supposed to cost $58.
Prime Time NFL Football
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by Sega. This game is listed in an
advertisement on page 193 of the December 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine
under the 32X Section and was selling for $66.
Race Drivin'
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Race Drivin' is
listed there and is said to be made by Sega.
Ratchet & Bolt
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by Sega. This game is listed in an
advertisement on page 193 of the December 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine
under the 32X section and carried a $59 price tag. In an article about up
coming games for the 32X in the August 1995 issue of Gamepro, on page 38,
there is one line about what this game is. It says "Rookie robot cops armed
with 33 weapons."
RayMan
In the September 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 139, there is an
advertisement for games. Under the 32X section, this game is listed for
$58. This game is also listed in an advertisement on page 193 of the
December 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine under the 32X section for $56.
Revolution X
In an E3 review in the August 1995 issue of Gamepro, page 38, this game
is said to have been announced. Supposed to be made by Acclaim. Game does
make an appearance on many other systems including the Saturn, Genesis,
Playstation and SNES.
Shadow Of Atlantis
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Shadow of
Atlantis is listed there and is said to be made by Sega.
Shell Shock
On page 147 of the March 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine, there is a small
article about this game. Core Design was supposed to be developing it with
a target release date of late 1995.
Sonic
On page 20 of the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine there is
small paragraph written about the upcoming Sonic 32X game. There are also 4
screen shots to the right. It looks a lot like Sonic 3D Blast on the
Genesis and Saturn. It says it was supposed to come sometime in 1995 and
that the Japanese development team had been working on it for almost a year.
It is also listed on page 40 of the same magazine as an upcoming game for
the 32X.
Soul Star X
This game is listed in an advertisement on page 193 of the December 1995
issue of Gamepro Magazine under the 32X section and was selling for $52.
SPOT
On page 37 of the October 1995 issue of Game Player's Magazine, there is a
section about games that are "In the Works." This is listed there.
Supposed to be made by Virgin Entertainment and released in October of 1995.
Street Fighter: The Movie
In the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, on page 40 there is a
feature on the 32X. At the top of the page there is a list of all the
expected titles that are "fairly definite for US release." Street Fighter:
The Movie is listed there. I assume the game is based off of the movie
(which ironically was based off of a game). Exists on the Saturn.
Super Motocross
In the October/November 1994 issue of Sega Visions, on page 15, there is
an article about up coming games. This game is the last one listed and has
one screen shot. I believe this game to actually be Motocross Championship
but it is hard to tell from the one small screen shot. On page 64 of the
same magazine there is a picture of the box art for Super Motocross and it
appears to be the same as Motocross Championship. In the August 1994 issue
of Gamepro Magazine, there is a picture of the box art that is significantly
different than that of what I previously mentioned. Says it would be
available November of 1994.
Surgical Strike
The manual for the Sega CD game Surgical Strike offers an upgrade to a 32X
CD version of the same game. While the normal version exists, the 32X
version does not.
Thunderhawk 2
On page 3 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is an
advertisement for the 32X. At the bottom is a list of games that are up
coming and this is one of them. Made by US Gold.
Tom Cat Alley Deluxe
On page 31 of the August 1994 issue of Gamepro Magazine there is a short
sentence of upcoming games in 1995, this is one of them. Since the game
exists on the Sega CD, I assume this was supposed to be a 32X CD update.
Virtua Hamster
On page 67 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is a two
page spread of upcoming 32X games. This is listed there with several hand
drawn sketches of what the game would look like. Says it was scheduled for
a fall 1995 release.
In the August 1995 issue of Gamepro, on page 38, there is a one sentence
synopsis of the game. "Meet Chip, the world's fastest skateboarding
hamster." Supposed to be made by Sega.
Virtual Golf
On page 37 of the October 1995 issue of Game Player's Magazine, there is a
section about games that are "In the Works." This is listed there.
Supposed to be made by US Gold.
VR Troopers
On page 66 of the May, 1995 issue of Sega Visions Magazine, there is a two
page feature on upcoming 32X games. VR Troopers is listed here with a two
paragraph write up. This game is also listed in an advertisement on page
139 of the September 1995 issue of Gamepro Magazine.
Wing War
On page 20 of the December 1994 issue of Game Players Magazine, in the
same paragraph as the Sonic game, there is one sentence at the end of the
paragraph that reads, "You can also look for the arcade hit Wing War to come
to the 32X in '95!" Nothing else is mentioned.
Wirehead CD
In the August 94 issue of Gamepro Magazine, on page 31, it that in
development for the 32X is a game called Wirehead CD. This game is
obviously an enhancement of the Sega CD game for use in conjunction with the
32X. On page 7 of the February/March 1995 issue of Sega Visions, there is a
very small picture of the box art for this game. It is covered up partially
by that of Fahrenheit 32X CD but the name of the game and the side part can
be seen. Game is said to be released along with the Sega CD version in
December of 1994 according to the December 1994 issue of Game Players
Magazine, page 11.
X-Men
On page 37 of the October 1995 issue of Game Player's Magazine, there is a
section about games that are "In the Works." This is listed there.
Supposed to be made by Sega and released in the second half of 1995.
This game also appears in an upcoming game list on page 38 of Gamepro
Magazine. The only information given is one line that says
"Action/Adventure with Wolverine, Bishop, Rogue, and Iceman."

5. What to expect in future versions
I'll attempt to complete all the packaging information (won't be too hard)

add a list of all the games that were in production at one time or another
but did not have an official release (which is coming along quite nicely).
