"Fun and Exciting....The First Time Through"

Night Trap is a "video-adventure" game. These were very popular with the Sega CD, sprawning such games as Sewer Shark and Double Switch. You watch a movie in a window and follow the storyline. You come across a moment when you need to press specific buttons to "trap" a monster. Sounds boring? What really drives the game is the storyline. I was surprised to find an interesting storyline trapped (pun intended)in this game. The storyline consists of a group of friends who met another girl in a mall. She quickly became friends with the other girls and she asked them if they would spend the weekend at her house by the lake. They agree and that is where the game starts. The girls (and one of the girls' brother comes too) arrive and make themselves at home. Partying and eating. Little do they know what is actually going on in the house, and that the one girl they met is not exactly who they think she is. She really is a vampire. Close to the house, a team called S.W.A.T is outside ready to barge in on the vampires. They hired an undercover detective (played by the late Dana Plato) to act as one of the girls. All is well until the 2nd disk. I won't give away to much so go play it to find out what happens next.

This is the main reason why I bought a Sega CD. I had rented this game and I ended up liking it a lot. So I went out and bought a Sega CD and Night Trap and I went home and played it. It's a great game! The storyline is exciting and always keeps you focused and awake (especially in the 2nd CD) and the acting is well-done. This is one of the few games (along with the Lunars) that is worth playing if you picked up a Sega CD. The game was also avaliable (along with the Sega CD) on the 32X. And if you must know, this game began all the trouble with violance in video games and government trying the stop it.

So go ahead, try it out!

Graphics - 8 (the scenes are well done, but the movie altogether is fuzzy)
Sound - 9 (lots of screams, yelling and well done, if sparse, backround music)
Gameplay - 8 (simple, but it is a fun game to play)
Acting - 10 (the acting is extremely well done. Each character is portrayed well)
Replay - 5 (the major problem. Once your done, your done. Good to pick up after you haven't played it in a few months.)
