Mortal Kombat II
Review by Oolada77
"Not bad, not bad at all ...."
Back In 1994 midway released Mortal Kombat 2 for all the home systems of the time, (snes, sega genisis, gameboy and game gear), Now at the time Mk2 for snes was the best verision of the game, then sega came out with a new system called the 32x as an attachment for the sega genisis and released an all new verision of Mortal kombat 2, completed with the frames and sound that were missing from the genisis verision.(However the ending pictures are still missing) Now this is'nt the best verision of mk2 but it is pretty darn close.
GRAPHICS:9
Not bad, not bad at all, when i first bought this game I was pleasently surprised by how well the graphic's looked, included was the acrade picture story-line, Large pictures on the verse screens, and brightly colored backgrounds, along with the missing frames from the genisis verision.
Sounds:9
All the missing sound effects from the genisis verision and even some from the snes verision were packed into this little cart, there is nothing better then hearing the groans and screams of pain coming from your opponent as you smash and mash them, esp when throwing them into the pit, I would have given this a 10 if not for the fact that it was missing the crowd cheering in the background as Kintaro or shao kahn knocked you half-way across the board, The famous little ''hello mom'' when you knock them into the acid pool, and lastly shao khan still has one insult and only half at that ''you will die'' and lastly the 32x still suffers from the crummy sound fxs, but it still sounds pretty darn good.
GAMEPLAY:10
This is the stronger point of this verision, the fighting was fast, the moves very easy to pull off and the combo's we all loved so much in the arcade are all here.
All in all this is not a bad verision of Mortal kombat and is worth the money spent buying it, pretty darn close to the arcade. from what I understand this is acuatally better then the saturn verision, though I have yet to play that one so I'll let you decide. If you dont own a snes, this is the nest best thing to it.
Pros: Nice graphics, lots of screaming, more animations and of course lots and lots of blood, infact buckets of it.
Cons:Missing the picture endings from the arcade, no crowd cheers at the arena stage, khan only has half of one insult, and damn it, the body parts still disappear when they hit the floor.
