Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller

Review by USSJ Gohan

"One of the best 3DO games! Sadly it isn't good."

I found my 3D0 system up in an attic a few days ago. I found a game. This game. This is much better than the original SNES, Sega Saturn, or any console before the 3d era of video games. The 3D0 really started what we know as gaming today. It is hard to find 3DO games or the console itself. If you look around you will find one, and it is worth it. There are some very nice games. Most people just don't like them because they don't have PS2 or XBOX graphics. I like old-school games. This is one of the best games for 3DO (that I have found, and I have found few) If this had had better games it would be a major system, but the lack of deals with gaming giants caused it to be a gaming system sent to the shadows. Enough about 3DO lets get to this fine game.

Graphics: 8/10

Now I rated this based on the graphic standard for 3DO. Now it would look like crap, but when this came out it was good. It had 3d models nice backgrounds, god flow, and great color. It was the best you could get back then, but still not as good as some systems of that time.

Music: 1/10

The music is bad. Whoever composed it must have had a bad day, or the game developers were on a tight budget and cut music. You would think that a CD could have better quality of sound, but this game did not. As the game progressed the music got repetitive and boring. I could hardly stand it. There were 5 or 6 instruments playing boring songs when they could have easily hired a few more people for one day of recording. This is the worst part of the game so don't be worried about if unless you don't have volume control on your TV.

Controls: 7/10

Not bad controls. the lag time for moving the cursor across the screen is annoying, but it doesn't affect game play. A few hours into the game and you will get used to it. The controls are like that of any game on 3DO nothing special, nothing bad. I don't give bad ratings because it isn't great. I give bad ones if it is bad. So that's why this got a 8.

Story: 8/10

This is why you would get the game. The story is great. Developed plot, good characters, nice suspense factor, a really good story. You take the position of 2 government officials Rachel Braque and Gideon Eshanti. They work for a government called ''The hand of God''. In the game Hell has been proven to truly exist and people can pass between it and the world. Devils and demons are thought of as normal things in the game. If someone is charged of a crime they are sent to hell for a period of time instead of jail. The game begins with Rachel and Gideon sleeping in their apartment when a government team tried to kill then and send them to hell. They become fugitives and run. They keep running and they find out that their own people tried to kill them, weird things about their government, and a big thing about Hell. I won't say any more because of spoilers. It is a good story.

Game play: 5/10

When you do take control of the game it is pretty hard. You just push the button and choose things. The menus are very badly done. It is one of the worse parts of the game.

Overall: 6/10 (Not an average)

A good story with bad game play, controls, and sound don't make a game good. This is one of the best games for 3DO though. That's sad because this isn't that good. Well that's it.
