Policenauts
Review by saturn4ever
"Worth getting... if you can still find it!"
I am very lucky to have found this game on a online store from Hong Kong. I paid quite a bit but I feel it was well worth it. Even though I cannot read or understand any Japanese at all, I really enjoyed this adventure. I had played Snatcher on my Sega CD a few months earlier and I just had to get this game.
Story (10/10)
Like I said I cannot read any Japanese.. but i've searched all over the net and have found bits of pieces explaining the overall storyline. From that and just playing through the entire game you can get a pretty good idea of what's going on. The story is very good and it's very interesting watching it as it's all played out.
Graphics (10/10)
Two words. Absolutely Beautiful! I was really impressed that a game like this could come from the 3DO. The special effects, coloring, and animation are amazing. This game shows what everything that the 3DO can do in my opinion.
Sound (10/10)
Some of my favorite music ever. I heard the intro song and instantly recognized the Metal Gear Solid part in there and fell in love instantly. The music is very good on this game. It's really handy to have the Pilot Disc so you can listen to some of this high quality music after you've beaten the game.
Very nice SFX, as well.
Gameplay (10/10)
Just like Snatcher cept a little different.
Overall (10/10)
Overall a very excellent game.
It would just be perfect if it were in English.
The characters in the game are just so awesome!
Adventures like Policenauts and Snatcher are too good just to be left in Japanese. We need more people to be aware of these two excellent titles so maybe down the road.. Konami may bring them over?
This game is available on the 3DO, PC9821, Saturn, and PS1... I'm sure everyone in America has at least 1 of those 4 systems right? Do yourself a favor and get this game!
If you're a fan of Hideo Kojima this is a great title that you MUST have.
