"SMASH! Through the castle walls, and into the fortress... GREAT GAME!"
The Atari 2600 came out in the late 1970's (about 1977). Warlords is one of the older games, and is one of the best games for the system. It is basically like Breakout - you have to get through the brick walls. You have to understand you don't use the same standards for the Atari 2600 as you would for the N64 or Play Station. The graphics would be the only downfall of the game if they did though. Warlords truly shows how great the games that Atari has made are!
Game Play 10/10
Simple controls. You, and up to 3 other people (or the computer) use the paddle controllers to try and smash through the wall, and hit the core of your opponents castle. The high point is the explosion of sound, and the flash when somebody's castle is decimated! Truly awesome!
Story 10/10
This game has a great story to go along with it, made by those great people at Atari. The story goes like this:
Take cover behind your castle walls, and head off an onslaught of enemy fire. At the same time, try to destroy the other warlords, by breaking down their castle walls, and crowning them with fireballs.
So, that basically says that you are trying to take out the opponents castle, and keep your own in tact. Very telling indeed.
Audio/Video 10/10
It doesn't get much better than this. The colors and the speeds the game works at are amazing. The little ball that flies around is the best part about the graphics. The castle and the surroundings are another great thing. The colors also give this game some life. For the sound, everything from: bumping the ball, hitting a castle wall, or blowing an opponent up! Truly an awesome choice of sounds and sound effects!
Replay YES
Like most Atari 2600 games, it was made to be replayed, not for length. True to its Atari value, you will want to play this game again. You have to remember the fact that Atari games are not long. They are all built with 2 things in mind: To be played, and replayed. That was the key to making the best Atari games. This is what the majority of todays games are lacking!
To Buy YES
Well, like most old things, you may find it hard to get ahold of a game like this. Well, if you find it in an old game store - BUY IT! It costs about $1-$2 dollars and is sold at some pawn and gaming stores. It is one of the more rare Atari 2600 games, and one of the best!
Verdict PERFECT!
If you want an action packed ''reaction tester'' or ''family fun'' game, then this is for you! Great for any age!
Don't delay, play today!
