Tapper

Review by Onion Kid

"Hey Barkeep! 'Nother round!"

Well, I have only ever played the Atari 800 version of Tapper, but let me assure you they are practically the same game. Tapper may get frustrating after a while to many, but I find that you, like me, will find yourself coming back to this classic bartending game.

Gameplay 10/10

What I find to be the absolute worst and best about this game is the way you must pay attention. You must catch glasses, pick up money, and run around like a manic. If you don't serve everyone in a round REALLY QUICKLY, just waste a mug; you're not gonna win.

This makes the game insanely difficult. A normal gamer who likes to play games while relaxing isn't going to do well in Tapper.

But this isn't to say that you won't find it fun. There is so much to do and serving beer is something you can get used to doing. With a little practice, you'll be able to fully enjoy it.

Story 6/10

Well, not the best of stories. It's just the life of a bartender in different areas. However, it make you appreciate that if you ever choose to be a bartender you won't have to be doing stuff as hard as what Mr. Moustache (that's what I call the main character ^_^) does.

Music/Effects 7/10

A little repetitive but all in all good background game music for a game packed with stuff you must do in time. However, listening to the music for too long may you drive you insane and break your winning streak.

Graphics 8/10

Very well done. For an Atari game, the graphics are pretty vivid but I think a little more detail could have been made to the customers. And the money.

Replayability 9/10

I'm sure most arcade fanatics will play this game over and over beating their high scores. But a regular gamer will probably play this game several times over but not more than beating it 5 times I should say.

Overall 6.66.../10

Well this game would be worth the cash...if you could find it for a fee. For the most part, you'll only be able to get this classic through the wonders of ROM Images. Ah well, if you can find a copy of Tapper anywhere, even in an arcade machine in that Pizzeria down the street, play it! I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did and still do.
