"You'll dig this game!"

Once upon a time, there was a little system called the Atari 2600. It made some of the most popular video games of the century. Some of these games included Asteroids, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders. But one was just as unique. It was a little game called Dig Dug. It's, without a doubt, the greatest game for the Atari 2600! Now, on with the review.

STORY: Not much of a story for this game. Your goal: kill every enemy to advance. Grab vegetables to gain extra bonus points. Also, fight off the fierce Fygar and the mean Pooka. One touch of them kills.

GRAPHICS: In a word: Simple. But whaddya expect?! It's Atari, for god's sake! All game graphics were like that. And I don't feel it's right to judge a game by it's graphics, especially one as old as a game for the Atari.

SOUND: Again, simple. Some of the most common sounds will be the sound when you're walking underground or blowing up and exploding certain enemies. But again, deserves something better.

GAMEPLAY: Now this is the real meat 'n potatoes, if you will, of Dig Dug. Gameplay is supposed to be the real importance of a game, and Dig Dug is no exception. You go through different levels, playing the role of the digger man with a pump, digging through the underground, and blowing up enemies. But the pump isn't the only key to defeating enemies. You can use rocks(ya know, those differently colored squares)to drop on enemies. Remember, the more enemies you drop on, the more points you receive. Sometimes, the last enemy of a level will retreat (hmph, darn coward) out of the ground. Always make an attempt to get him! As you keep going, the levels will be more difficult, but I like to think of it as ''challenging''. And the better the challenge, the more exciting and fun the game will be.

REPLAYABILITY: This game will never get old. The number of levels and different playing difficulties will keep going and going until god knows when!

RENT/BUY/IGNORE: Listen to me now! Go out and BUY! BUY! BUY!
But make sure you have an Atari 2600, then go somewhere and find it, no matter what the cost. Believe me, once you pop this game into your Atari 2600, you won't be tired of this exciting, history-making game.

But, just as a reminder to those who forget to read the manual, always turn the console POWER off before removing or inserting a game!
