Yars' Revenge

"One of the best games ever!"

Yars Revenge on the Atari 2600 is truly one of the greatest games ever. If you have not played this game then I must insist that you play it at this very moment. Take note this games lead programmer is the man responsible for E.T. It is truly strange to think that this awesome game(it is number 6 on my top 10 list) was made by the same guy who single handily crushed the game industry. But this is not what a review is. This game simply rocks! I have put over 50 hours into this game. And that is more than I put into most of my games.

What is it?
You are Yar. You must take down the shields of the enemy and destroy the ship behind it or you will be doomed! But beware, a missile will follow you wherever you go! With 3 lives you must try to get the highest score possible. This makes for an infinitely replayable game.

Graphics 10/10-
Now, by todays standards these graphics are crappy as hell. But, back in the day Yars Revenge was a sight to see. Going at a smooth framerate with at least 7 or 8 pixels per enemy. And in the middle of the screen they have a cool blurry effect. For an Atari game, this game looks awesome.

Sound 10/10-
Again, by todays standards these are just blips and bleeps but when Yars Revenge was released it was a thing to be heard. Great sound effects and some cool effects coming through the speakers when in the static. It sounds awesome. Especially if you are playing on a new T.V with surround sound.

Control 10/10-
Well, you must move up and down, left and right, and shoot. It is solid though! Nothing to complain about, nothing to praise though either! Solid control just makes the game that much better. And those joystick controllers are just so awesome to play with!

Overall 10/10-
One of the best games ever period! You can play this game for hours on end. If you start then you likely wont stop becuase the game is so damn addicting! The game also never ends. Like almost all Atari games you are just playing to beat your former high score. It makes for a good old-skool experience. I command you to pick this game up! If you havent played it then you absolutely must play this game! But if you are just too young to have played this when it was released dont bother. You are most likely to hate it becuase it is too ''Atarish''.
