1. Introduction
Welcome to my second Sonic Adventure FAQ! This FAQ will help you out on
a certain 2-tailed fox's quest, and he's none other than Miles Prower
(a.k.a. Tails). This sweet-natured fox is a natural born mechanic with the
unique ability to fly high in the sky using his 2 special tails (like
we don't know that). A long time friend and admirer of Sonic, Tails
devoted himself to tinkering in his workshop in the Mystic Ruins while
Sonic was away on his journey. The adventure of Prower boy begins one
day when, in the midst of performing a flight test with his latest
aircraft invention (better known as the Tornado 2), he suddenly began
to experence engine trouble and crashes in Emerald Coast.

2. Legal Stuff
Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails the Fox, and all related characters are
trademarks of Sega. Boy, this feels like a tradition just to do that,
you know. I got most of the info from most of the resources I had for
my Amy FAQ. Since we got that out of the way, let's move on.

3. Info on Tails' Quest
Sonic is an ace at speed, Amy is an ace at whacking stuff with her
hammer, and Tails is an ace at flying. And flying is something you
need to get through Tails' action stages (and it'll help if you play
Sonic R a lot too). You see, you need to do 2 things in an Action Stage.
One, you need to get to the end alive. Two, you need to beat someone to
the end. From stages 1-4, you must beat Sonic, and at the final one,
you need to beat Robotnik, or Eggman as the characters (except E-102)
call him. So, what does the fox's flying has to do with this? Well,
you'll notice green circles that Tails can gain some speed and make
his opponent sorry they ever THOUGHT of racing him.

4. Moves
  a. Propeller Flight
Press the jump button in mid-flight and get on with your flying. Hold
the button, and Tails will gain altitude and press the attack button to
make a landing. But don't get cocky thinking Tails can do this forever.
If he flies for too long, the poor fox will get tired and suddenly drop
to the ground. I'm serious.

  b. Tails Attack
Press the attack button when standing still or walking to Tails give
enemies a good smack with his tail (duh!). You can use this move to cut
dark green weeds to get rings and extra lives.

  c. Rapid Tails Attack
Same as above, but Tails can do this indefinetly. But to do this, you
need the Rhythm Badge. I'm still trying to figure out how come Tails
doesn't get dizzy from doing that but Amy gets dizzy with her Hammer
Spin Attack...

5. Upgrade Items
 a. Jet Anklet
Quoting the light ball thing, "Its jet power makes you fly faster". Located
at the underground sewer east of the Twinkle Park entrance. Go up the hole
using Tails' flying skill and the Jet Anklet is all yours.

 b. Rnythm Badge
Gives Tails the Rapid Tails Attack. It's located at the left side of the
temple in the past, surronded by green weeds.

6. Tails Story
Miles "Tails" Prower idolizes the speedy Sonic (you should know that by
now), though he gains a certain amount of self-confidence as he encounters
and defeats the best that Robotnik has to offer. His story begins when his
prototype for his plane, the Tornado 2, experiences engine trouble over
Station Square, and the friendly fox has to make an emergency landing in
Emerald Coast. Once he's been rescued by Sonic, Miles sets about his own
course of undoing the mad Dr. Robotnik's evil plan, racing to find missing
Chaos Emeralds before they fall into the archenemy's clutches.

7. Tails' Quest
Tails is happily flying in his plane. Just when he starts to relax, the
plane's engine conks out and the plane is out of control. Finally Tails
makes a (crash) landing at Emerald Coast (just in case you skipped all the
way down here and don't remember a thing I said). Personally, I liked it
when Tails yelled, "I'm outta control! Mayday! Mayday!" Anyway, back to
our topic. Sonic shows up to help Tails, who is unharmed from the crash.
When they get to the pool area, Tails mentions his prototype plane and the
power source, which is not fully compatable yet. Sonic tells Tails that he
can feel free to use his plane, the Tornado (the regular one), anytime the
fox feels like it. That's when Tails shows Sonic the (purple) Chaos Emerald
that was powering the Tornado 2's prototype. Sonic couldn't believe his
eyes. Then, Tails tells Bad Blue (a neat nickname for Sonic made up by a
"friend" of mine) to visit his workshop in the Mystic Ruins.

After that, go to the Station Square train station and ride the train to
the Mystic Ruins. Head up the stairs to Tails' house, and you'll found out
you have a guest waitng: Dr. Eggman himself. Mr. Egghead threatens Tails
to surrender his Chaos Emerald. Thank goodness Tails refuses! That's
when he gets his Egg Hornet ready. For the boss stragety, head on down
to section 8A.

After you take care of that Egg Hornet, Eggman shows that he's faking his
defeat. And he proves it by snagging Tails' Emerald. That's when
Double-Tailed Foxy Loxy and Speedy Bad Blue are introduced to Chaos. Sonic
says that's the same monster he saw a day ago, and Tails freaks out a bit.
Then, Robotnik feeds Chaos the emerald, and Chaos 0 plus a Chaos Emerald
equals Chaos 1!

When that movie comes to a close, head up the stairs to Tails' house to get
the Green Wind Stone. Next, go into a little cave just northwest of his
house. Inside is an altar. You'll figure out what to do with the Wind stone.
Then, you can feel free to enter stage numero uno for Tails, Windy Valley.

    a. Windy Valley
Here should be easy. All you need is a lot of speed (and that means most
of the time, those green hoops come in handy). I should mention I always
beat Sonic here and I only use just ONE of the shortcuts? It's no joke. Beat
the stage and the Blue Emerald will have a new owner.

After that, take the train to Station Square. Go to the Train Station's
casino entrance. When you get to the Casinopolis building, fly to hit the
button above the casino entrance to stage number two: Casinopolis.

    b. Casinopolis
Here should be easy, too. Just get ahead of Sonic and avoid the spiked
balls (not to mention the spikes) close to the end. Beat the stage and the
White Emerald is yours.

When you finish Casinopolis, the Blue Ice Stone will appear at an alley.
But before you can get far, guess who shows up and tries to swipe your
Emerald? Eggman, of course. When Tails tries to get his Emerald back, the
bad egg uses sleeping gas on Tails (as well as on Sonic). So, as Robotnik
takes the Emerald, Sonic and Tails are given a one-way trip to Snoozesville.
After they wake up, Tails wonders about the Chaos Emerald they just have.
Sonic says that Eggman has the white one, but the blue one's safe. However,
the Emerald score is Robotnik with 2 and Sonic and Tails with 1. Not a good
thing, isn't it?

Okay. Enough with the bad news. Let's move on. As soon as that is over,
grab the blue key and take it with you to the Mystic Ruins. As soon as you
get there, a new cave will form. Go to that cave (carrying the Ice Stone of
course). A gust of wind will be blowing like crazy just like the Windy
Valley entrance. Ride the current and it'll lead you to another set of
caves. Halfway through will be a ice door and an altar (yes, another one).
Place the Blue Stone on the altar. The door will open. Head into the cave,
jump over the lake, and climb up the ladder, and you've made it to Tails'
third stage, IceCap.

    c. IceCap
This place is fun! Get away from the avalance, hit the speed-up things,
hit every orange ramp, beat Sonic to the end, and there will be a present
waiting for you: the Green Emerald.

After that snowboarding extravganza, leave the cave and go to the area in
front of the waterfall north of the train station. Knuckles will be there.
Just when Tails said "Hey, Knuckles! What's up?", Rad Red (another neat
nickname for Knuckles that the "friend" of mine made up) tries to beat the
braincells out of Sonic and Tails. Tails wonders whats the matter with
Knuckles, and Knuckles will demand Tails' Emeralds. But did Tails give
them up? You bet he didn't! You'll have to fight Knuckles (I'm serious,
folks!). All Rad Red needs is 3 hits. By the way, every time Knuckles says
"Oh, no!" when he's hit, he's sounds sort of sarcastic (to me, at least)
meaning he's not really hurt and wants to throw Tails in the lake and makes
sure he drowns! ::screams hystericially:: Uh...I mean, I really don't like
sarcasm that much.

After that incident, Tails and Knuckles bash into each other and Tails
drop his Emeralds. Then, Eggman shows his face, puts the swipe on Tails'
Emeralds, and calls Chaos. And when you mix Chaos 2 with two more Emeralds,
you get Chaos 4. Not a pretty picture, is it? For the boss stragety, feel
free to go to section 8B.

When Chaos 4 is cut down to a raindrop, the Egg Carrier appears and beams
up ol' Eggman. Tails says that Eggman can't get away, and Knuckles tells
Sonic and Tails to go on without him. After that, head up the stairs to
Tails' house. Tails will ask Sonic to wait while Double-Tailed Foxy Loxy
(I can't resist calling Tails that every now and then) loads up the
Tornado. When the Tornado appears on the runway, Tails will ask Sonic to
hop in. They take off, meaning you can get your flight on in Tails' first
mini-game, Sky Chase (the act 1 version). For info on this check out
section 10A. After a tough fight, the Tornado gets shot down by the Egg
Carrier's Egg Cannon.

Tails is in the Mystic Ruin rainforest taking a little walk, not to
mention looking a little down in the mouth. Suddenly, Sonic runs by him
and Tails tries to catch up to him. There's only one problem: Bad Blue is
just too fast. Then, the scene fades out and we see that Tails, who landed
near the Mystic Ruin Lake, was dreaming the whole time. The dream brought
back memories to Tails and he owes so much to Sonic. However, when Tailsy
boy tries to look for Sonic, he's nowhere to be found. Tails wonders where
Sonic went and hopes he's all right. He mentions his prototype plane and
its needs of a Chaos Emerald to work. After that, go to the Mystic Ruins
rainforest via minecart.

Jump off the ledge (or if you're afriad that Tails will break his leg,
climb the ladder) and keep going on the left path. Tails will see the Red
Chaos Emerald lying on the path. But before he can get close, Froggy (Big
the Cat's pet frog) will hop by and swipes the Emerald for a snack (no
kidding!) and Tails chases it. Go into the cave and jump on the Echidna
button to unclog the sand. Go into the cave to get in sand-boarding
madness! But, if you want me to put it plainly, Mini-game number 2 for
Tails: Sand Hill. Go to section 10B to get the scoop on it.

When you reach the end and getting Big's frog, Tails gets a one-way trip
to the Echidna Village in the past courtesy of Tikal's spirit. Tails will
be wondering where he is. Now, head up the steps to your immediate left
and then go right and get your hands on the Rhythm Badge! Then, head to
the front of the temple to meet the person responsible for taking you here
(better known as Tikal). Tails and Tikal will have a chit-chat about a
passage Tikal was reciting.

After that, you're transported back to present-day Mystic Ruins. There,
Big will try to make a desprate grab for his frog, scaring the crap out of
Tails. The frog gets away and Big chases it. At least Tails got the Chaos
Emerald from the frog before it got away. Now, return to Tails' house.

Tails will use the Chaos Emerald to power his new plane, Tornado 2. He
climbs in the plane and opens a secret passage located behind the waterfall
near his house. And away Tails goes!

We see the Egg Carrier flying past Red Mountain and Tails calls to Sonic.
Bad Blue jumps aboard and they both go after the Egg Carrier in the fox's
third and final mini-game, Sky Chase (act 2 version). Get info on this game
in scetion 10C.

After destroying the Egg Cannon, Sonic tells Tails to land on the main
deck of the Egg Carrier. There's only one problem: Tails forgot to put in
the landing gear. With that, the Tornado 2 makes a hasty crash landing.
Tails suggest that they should look for Amy (How does he know? Does Tails
all of a sudden have psychic powers?!).

Head up the deck and Eggman will transform the ship. Tails was surprised
that the ship changed shape. However, Sonic wasn't listening and wonders
how to get to the bridge. Tails makes a face and says, "I hate it when he
doesn't listen to me!". Cute quote, in my opinion. Okay. Back to business.
Eggman says there's only one way to get to the bridge: the Sky Deck. Now,
head to the door to enter Tails' fourth (and hardest) stage, Sky Deck.

    d. Sky Deck
The hardest stage in the game, and you have to race Sonic in this as Tails.
I'm not kidding! There are a lot of shortcuts here. And don't fly too soon
or you'll fall! Other than that, beat you-know-who-since-I've-mentioned-his-
name-a-million-times to the capsule.

Once you surivived (and beaten Sonic) through Sky Deck, Tails says that he
and Sonic should check out the bridge. Look for the large, circular
elevator to the main deck. You'll see Eggman talking to Amy. Amy is happy
to see that help's on her way. Eggman, on the other hand, says that it's
too late for fox boy. To prove that, Eggman puts the swipe on the Chaos
Emerald around the bird's neck and calls E-102 (a.k.a. Gamma) to clobber
Tails. Hit E-102 three times and he's in scrap city.

After the fight, Tails is about to really kick Gamma's behind when Amy
shows up and tells Tails to stop beating up E-102 since he let her escape.
Suddenly, the Egg Carrier loses altitude and Sonic asks Tails to take Amy
and clear out while he sets some things straight with Eggman. And Tails did
just that while Gamma boy hovers to safety. We see the Egg Carrier crash
thanks to Sonic.

Back at Station Square, Tails gently lowers Amy to the ground and notices
the bad egg crashing nearby. Eggman complains and decided to blow Station
Square to smithereens with a missle. Hey! Wait! Stay right there! I do
have good news: the missle was a dud. In other words, it didn't work. Eggman
decides to take matters into his own hands and makes sure that missle
explodes. Tails realizes he must beat that bad egg to the missle or else
it's so long to Station Square. Tails stops for a moment and wishes that
Sonic was there to help, but comes to his senses knowing that he can't
depend on Bad Blue forever. After all, the fate of Station Square depends
on this young, orange, blue-eyed, two-tailed fox! Uh...I mean, Tails have
to save Station Square from its fury. And so starts Tails' grand finale,
Speed Highway.

    e. Speed Highway
Now the heat really turns up! Take as many shortcuts as you can and get to
that missle before Egghead does! That's all I gotta say about this...

Tails will find himself at the casino end of Station Square. Eggman will
be there. So will be a crowd of people. Eggman is getting sick of
Double-Tailed Foxy Loxy and uses the Egg Walker to make a pancake out of
Tails. Now do you think Tails is scared? No way! He made it this far, so he
should go all the way! For the boss stragety, go to 8C.

After Tails finishes off the Egg Walker, the crowd cheers and Tails flies
back to Mystic Ruins where he finds Sonic. Tails flies by Sonic as they
give a quick high-five celebration. Way to go, Tails! We knew you had it
in ya! ;-D

8. Bosses
    a. Egg Hornet
First, grab some rings, and as Eggman shoots missles at you, run all over
the place. When the Egg Hornet digs into the ground, jump or use your tail
to do damage. Hit it 3 times and make that Eggboy sorry!

    b. Chaos 4
This guy is one tough cookie, but when you get the hang of it, it should
be easy. Jump on his head (tail spining is fine, too) as he pops in out
between attacks. Look out for shockwaves, and don't stay in the water too
long or else you'll lose your rings (and if you don't have any, you're
toast).

   c. Egg Walker
Avoid the Egg Walker's missle and fire attacks by running toward the Egg
Walker and staying underneath it. When the EW gets ready to stomp the
ground, jump and float to avoid the shockwaves. After that, land and hit
the glowing foot and the cockpit will fall. Hit it. When the EW stomps on
the ground mutiple times, float as before. Quickly land between the
shockwave and repeat the jump technique as needed. Use Tails' Rapid Tail
Spin Attack to hit the glowing feet faster. When it stomps 3 feet down,
hit them, and hit the cockpit for the last time. Adios, Robotnik!

9. Getting Tails' Emblems
   a. Windy Valley
C Emblem: Beat Sonic to the Chaos Emerald
B Emblem: Beat Sonic with 50 rings
A Emblem: Beat an even faster Sonic (no kidding!)

   b. Casinopolis
Same as above.

   c. IceCap
Same as above.

   d. Sky Deck
Same as above (duh!) except you got to destroy the caspule.

   e. Speed Highway
Same as above, except you have to race Eggman.

   f. Sky Chase 1 & 2
Complete them the first time. Then, beat your high score.

   g. Sand Hill
Same as above. (Getting sick of me saying that, huh?)

10. Mini-Games
   a. Sky Chase Act 1
Try to shoot as many enemies as you can. That's all I have to say about
that.

  b. Sand Hill
This is one of my favorite mini-games! It's just like the IceCap
snowboarding, except with the obsticles. Hit a hoop and you'll get x1.
If you don't get through another hoop in a few seconds, it's back
to x1. My highest score was x26. Believe me! I'm serious! (I bet you're
sick of me saying that, too.)

  c. Sky Chase Act 2
Same as Act 1, except in the middle of the game, Tails will transform the
plane! Cool, huh?

Well, this is another FAQ coming to a close. You should remember my e-mail
address by now, but if not, here it is: IdaKathry@aol.com.
