"Doesn't Give me as Much of a RUSH as the Second Game of the Series, but gets the Job Done."

Since 1998, I have been fascinated whenever I hear the word RUSH! It was, well, 1998, and my former best friend had just rented San Fransisco Rush. The game was received well, however when he rented RUSH 2, my love of the game shot up. When I purchased this game for Dreamcast, I could hardly contain myself, and while it isn't as good as RUSH 2, it is a fantastic game. Love the wings. They are good for the game play.

Game play: 9/10

Fantastic game play. The biggest, "new," feature of San Fransisco Rush 2049 are the wings. The wings that your vehicle can spew out allow you to glide further, and land properly, essentially making you drive at a faster speed (the wings are a bit tricky to use at first, however after a while, you will get the hang of them). The controls are very easy to use, and are very noob friendly. There have also been some new modes added; Battle, Obstacle, and Ghost race. In battle mode, you can, well, battle with up to 4 different people. In obstacle, you have to run through an obstacle course, and in ghost mode, you race against your ghost (pretty self explanatory). Good 'ol game play. Story is next.

Story: Not Applicable

Being a racing game it has no story. With that out of the way, we will move on to graphics.

Graphics: 10/10

Absolutely fantastic, this is ALMOST the Dreamcast at its best. Vibrant colours, realistic surroundings, this truly does look like the future. Maybe not 2049, but definitely the future. Plus, with the customization of all of the different rims, you can make your car look quite amazing. From superb graphics to mediocre sounds.

Sounds: 7/10

Ugh, techno music? What is it with people and thinking that the future revolves only around techno music. I mean come on. Anyway, while it is fairly good techno music, its techno thus it is docked a lot. The sounds are your run of the mill crashing and racing sounds, nothing good nothing bad. How about replay ability?

Replay ability: 10/10

This game will have you playing for months and months, due to the unlock-ables. When the game was released, you would be given a long code that you could input in game, and at the arcade, so that you could use all of the unlock-ables that you ahd unlocked. Sadly I may think (I do not know for sure or not) that this service has now been cancelled, however that is not a big deal. Bottom line, you will be playing this game for a long time.

Buy or rent?

All of my reviewed games are non-rent-able (again unless you notify me that you can rent them), thus the only hope is purchasing this game, and why wouldn't you? It's gold.

I love my Rush, and I can't get enough of it. Whether it's flying to get that coin, or taking that shortcut to get that extra position, this game will keep anyone at the edge of their seat. "3...2...1...RUSH!!"
