Review by Boba_Fett

"An intelligent strategy/FPS game."

I played Rainbow Six on the PC about a year before getting it on the Dreamcast. My impression of the PC version was: this is a pretty ingenious game, but it would get boring. I was absolutely wrong, this game definetly grew on me. I picked up this game for free when first buying my Dreamcast just because it was the only FPS for Dreamcast that interested me. At first I hated the game's controls, but after an hour or so they were as easy as pie.
Graphics:9
The graphics are good, no guessing needed to identify objects. Nothing to rave about, but also nothing to scoff at.
Sound:9
Very little sound in this game. However when sound does occur it is very good. Voices are easy to understand and different sounds for bullet richochets.
Challenge:10+
Not your average Run and Gun First person Shooter. Before each mission there is a planning stage, which is essential to an essential mission success. Gameplay requires stealth and caution. If you see an enemy you can try to run in and mow him down, or you can stun him with a flashbang and take him out.
Lasting Appeal:10
Despite the lack of multiplayer or online support this game has great lasting appeal. I challenge anyone to make it through the entire game on Veteran level wothout losing a team member. The training missions are OK too. In addition to the orginal R6 PC levels, there is the Eage Watch levels which was sold as an Exapansion Pack. A great value.
Overall:9
If you already own a copy of the PC version then pass on this or at least rent it. If you are new to the Rainbow Six series then pick up a copy. Hopefully the quality work put into the Dreamcast version will allow for a Rogue Spear port.
Good: Challenge, ingenuity, graphics
Bad: No multiplayer, control(for some gamers)
