Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2
Review by JSonavil
"Boxing as Bill, Hillary, and Michael, you can't ask for more !"
If you have played Ready2Rumble Boxing (R2R) then this game will make you feel right at home. This a a boxing game where you box as wacky characters. You build up a RUMBLE meter with heavy hits to your opponent. When you spell out RUMBLE, you get into Rumble Mode and can do lots of damage by doing a Rumble Flurry (which is a long automatic chain combo). In this game the Rumble Mode has been expanded. Now, when you spell Rumble once, you do a regular Rumble Flurry; when you spell it twice, you do a stronger Rumble Flurry; and when you spell it three times, you knock the opponent out of the ring with a super uppercut and automatically win the match !
Now, on to the characters. All of the characters have their own opening for the match and all are very funny. My favorite is Freke E. Deke. It is not mentally stable. He hallucinates and punches himself and he talks very weird. There also is Afro Thunder who has a huge afro and has the famous intro line ''It's Time to Dance, It's Time to Dance !''
There are of course tons of hidden characters and 5 celebrities that you can box as. Also, President Clinton and Hillary Clinton are playable characters. You can now box as or beat up the President. And his intros all make fun of the things he did. All characters have at least 3 different openings and at least 2 different costumes. And Michael Buffer is the ring announcer. Michael Jackson is also playable. So you can beat him up too. And he does the moonwalk when he wins. All of the characters are lively, funny, and totally crazy !
And then of course, there is the champ ... I will not tell you who he is but I will say that he is very tough (even on easy mode). You will need to be a good character if you want to be able to beat him. He is over 8 feet tall and has an arm reach of 10 feet (that's 120 inches) !!!!! He also is extremely strong.
Then there is the championship mode. It is not worth playing. It is the same as arcade moe except with a couple of stupid FMVs of a gym being built. The only reason to play it is to unlock hidden costumes.
Tournamnet mode is a tournmanet with at least 2 human players and computer players.
Team Battle mode is basically a bunch of fights. You pick from 4 to 8 players and box the opponent's first player. If you win, your character fights the second character on the opponent's team ... etc. The winner gets back to full power after each match so it is like a bunch of regular matches one after the other.
Here's my scoring for this game :
Graphics : 8/10. There is some graphic glitches and cut out frames but it is till okay. Not much of an improvement over R2R.
Sound : 3/10. You cannot hear the sound at all.
Controls: 8/10. The controls are good for the game. I find it easier to use the d-pad instead of the analog joystick
Fun factor : 10/10.
Replay Value : 10/10. This will last for a very long time because of the mulitplayer modes and the zany characters.
Overall (not an average) : 8.4/10. It has a fun aracde mode but the championship mode stinks. This game is all about mulitplayer matches.
Buy or Rent ? Buy. It is adequate by yourself and loads of fun with friends. If you played R2R, you'll love this. And if you haven't played R2R, you will still love R2R Round 2.
