Blue Stinger
Review by TheMadcapLaughs
"Comedy or Tragedy? Either way it’s genuinely laughable"
Probably the worst thing about Blue Stinger is its absolutely terrible presentation. For a quick example of this you need only look at a cutscene the terrible voice actors launch forward some genuinely horrific dialogue and after the character finishes speaking his mouth continues to move. As you look around at the screen you see some blocky ugly character models and just wonder to yourself why the developers didn't bother.
Of course they did bother a bit with the graphics in the hall ways sort of. They're detailed compared to most of the things in the game and look alright for a Dreamcast game but I can't help but feel that the developers got off on the wrong foot with the hallways. You see, I feel that this game wanted to be a survival horror game normally survivor horror games try to be creepy, freaky and even downright scary. So why pray tell are the hallways as light as the outside areas? It looks like there is daylight in the hallways, which doesn't even make logical sense let alone every other kind of sense.
What about the enemies? From the ones I saw I can honestly say they are downright cheap. For example there is this tentacle thing that lashes around in circles trying to knock you down this seems like a perfectly fair attack. You know what isn't fair? When the tentacle attacks you again before you have a chance to get up. Basically, if you're hit once and happen to land next to the tentacle you will be caught in a never ending loop of attacks never ending until you die of course. That is just horrible game design.
The combat is repetitive and uninteresting. Fist fighting consists of mashing the X-button and hoping you hit the enemy before he hits you. Even then you can run past most of the enemies. There are some bad camera angles at work in this game as well meaning that you can enter a room and get hit by an enemy before the camera has a chance to adjust it self.
I could go on about this game, but frankly I don't want to. If by now I still haven't convinced you to avoid this mess of a game then frankly I never will. You might get a few laughs out of how bad it is but ultimately it is a failure and should not be touched.
