Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Review by Azure Night
"Oy vey..."
Boy, Capcom sure didn't put too much time into this one. It's obvious with all the glitches and easily exploitable tricks in the game. Oh well, on with the review.
Graphics: 9
Here, they did a great job. Big colorful sprites, nice frame rate, great backgrounds, and colorful supers all make for great eye candy.
Sound: 7
Another good department. They audible smacks and various other sound effects come in nice and clear. From Juggernaut screaming ''Ohhh, HEAD CRUSH!'' to Blackheart's cool warbled voice, it comes in sharp and is pleasing to the ears. Only thing that made this a 7 was that damned elevator music. And GOD, that's some annoying character select music. Certainly encourages you to pick your fighter faster.
Controls: 8
The controls are easy to pick up once you figure at A1 and A2 aren't HP and HK (I remember being so confused the first time I saw it and played it). lol. But other then that, the supers and everything else are very simple to do. ''Magic series'' combos, as they are called, are easy to do and you can get pretty creative with combos. Even Juggernaut has some fancy lookin' combos in this game.
Game play: 4
Well, there is no denying that this is a fun game. I enjoyed playing it for a couple months and thought it was really good and all that. But, I have come to the realization that this is one of the most broken, and unbalanced Capcom fighting games to date. If you're going to enter a tourney you have to choose at least 2 of the characters from the ''Chosen Group''. Them being, Cable, Sentinal, Blackheart, Spiral, Storm, Magneto, and probably some other ones that I forgot. Traps, infinites, and insane combos prevail here. Yeah, the game requires practice and skill, and you can get around that stuff, but everywhere you look there are traps and infinites. It's just too damn easily abused. You're better off playing TTT or SF3, they are far more balanced.
Replay?
If you like this game, and don't mind it being so broken, you'll learn take plenny time learning how to do traps and practicing your infinites. If you enjoy it despite all the flaws, more power to you. Plus getting all the secret characters, colors, and stages takes a long time so you'll be doing that for a while too. But I don't play it anymore since I realized what's up. It's just too broken. BAD CAPCOM!
