Zombie Revenge
Review by bsquared
"Yawning by week 2."
Ok, seriously, how many times can you play through an arcade game and not eventually get bored of it? Ok, crazy Taxi is an exception, but this game is anything BUT an arcade game as good as that. I was yawning buy my second week of playing Zombie Revenge.
Zombie Revenge is a Streets of Rage style beat 'em up that kind of tags the camera along with the action while you either kick butt, or gun down.
Let's start with the good stuff--and there is lots of it actually. The gore is outstanding, bringing back memories of The House of the Dead 2. The zombies also sent me on a trip to memory lane.
Although, in Zombie revenge, the zombies are so much more varied. You will come up against a creature with a head growing out of his chest, two flowery-looking zombies, and these annoying little jumpy guys that piss you off to the point of almost breaking your controller.
The weapons are where this game really shines. You'll get your greedy mits on some pretty serious firepower. Try an assault shotgun on for size. How about a mini-gun, or perhaps a large drill for you zombie sawing pleasures.
You can play as three different characters with different combo moves. There are some sweet graphics. Everything looks solid and frame rate keeps pretty consistent. Most of the time, it does.
Where this game suffers is replay value. I can just toss up my lunch sometimes when I have to replay the first few levels over just to get back to where I died. I think I should pay my sister to play these tedious early levels.
If you have a friend--and I hope you do, you can play together in the arcade mode and mindlessly kill the dead.
Modes can't save this game from collecting dust on your shelf though. Zombie revenge has a Weapons Mode, a Bare Knuckle Mode and a Balanced Mode for starters. Also added (probably at the last minute) was a one on one versus mode that sucks.
Now honestly, If I were you, I would consider having at least one game like this. Like me, personally, I bought this sucker for $14.99 at software ect. I would not pay more that twenty bucks on this game, though. Rent it if you want. Just know that this thing is great to play with your best friend.
Ha, and they say that playing video games makes you a zombie... heh.
