World Series Baseball 2K2
Review by Son of Metallica
"Biggest disspapointment of the year......"
Well , after waiting 11 painful months for this game(ever since 2K1 was what it shouldn't be) I have it , I didn't buy it at a store and pay the $39.99 , I instead bought it from my friend whose opinion is similar to mine , only he was more generous. He said he'd at least give it a 3.1 .So here's the explanation for the bad vibes.
Graphics-5/10
Don't expect graphics as good as last years , last years were beautiful , this is on par with a N46 game. The batting players tend to have a blocky look to them , they don't have true to life batting stances , the pitching styles are ugly and they aren't up to snuff with NFL and NBA 2K1 . This is supposedly made by Visual Concepts, but rumors are saying it's co-developed by Exile Entertainment and Blue Shift Inc. And by the overall crap look , I believe it.
Sound-7/10
This games sounds are good , the ambient sounds are nice except the ball to bat sound. It's too loud , like your in an indoor batting cage , and even when a slow roller is hit(not very often) you hear CRAAAACKKK!!! Oh well everything else is real good
Control-4/10
Oh Lord , could this game have worse control than last year's fielder-less game? Simply....yes.''Alright , manual fielding , kick ass!!!!'' Yes it does kick ass......compared to last year. But to every other baseball game on the market , it sux. Fielders rarely get there on time , and it often goes in between two fielders and all hell breaks lose , the ball rolls to the outfield , and it's a hit .Manual fielding was better implemented on Little Joes Baseball. It's a cheap $8 handheld I bought when I was 11.
Gameplay-3/10
This is where this game shines..................through the pretty mold for what it really is.......CRAP! Oh man this is so buggy it ain't even funny , outfielders always put their glove straight in the air and catch the ball with their feet , for an out no less. When you try to sub in a runner you end up with no runners on base for some reason , at least it happened to me . The ball always jumps off the bat , even when batting with a pitcher , it's waaaaaay to easy to jack them out , players finish with 60 homers on a regular basis and the game is like Rookie on All Star. Meaning it's easier to beat this , than a one legged 300 pound man in a race.
Rent/Buy-I don't recommend either
This game is by far the worst I've played since VR Baseball '99 , the graphics are par at best , the gameplay is as deep as the kiddie pool. Franchise isn't what it should be , 15 players leave your team for free agency ,making it impossible to get them back , no unbalanced trades(e.g. 2 for one 3 for 2 etc.) ,not even trades with 2 for 2. Season is unbearable , playing 10 games is a chore , you can only create 3 players per VMU , your created players all have only one stance , Which is a Cal Ripken ripoff , all created pitchers have one delivery , and this game is got more bugs than my piece of **** house. Bottom line , this sucks , shoot it or run it over to get your vengence.Peace Out
