Unreal Tournament
Review by LiMpBiZkitFaN
"Better than the PS2 version? ABSOLUTELY!"
Unreal Tournament better than Quake III Arena? Maybe.
Better than the PS2 version? ABSOLUTELY!
Sure, the PS2 version my have Assault Mode, but the Dreamcast version has over 70 levels, and lots of Dreamcast only levels. The game overall is good.
Audio/Video- 9/10
From the awesome landscapes of Lava Giant, and the Dark Shadows of Sector9, the graphics are Awesome, but their not Quake III Arena graphics, but their good. The sound is great, from the footsteps of someone going down a hallway, to the sound of Flak, from the Flak Cannon hitting the wall, there sound is the best their can be on the Dreamcast.
The graphics overall are good, but could have been as good as Quake III Arena's graphics.
Gameplay- 7/10
Though it seems like Unreal Tournament would play good with the control pad.....It doesn't. The Mouse and Keyboard is the only way to go, but it may be a pricey investment to put into a so-called ''Dead System'', which it is NOT. But as I said, the Mouse and keyboard combo will cost you about $50.00 to $60.00, depending where you get it, but you can use the Keyboard and Mouse for other FPS's, like Soldier of Fortune, and Quake III Arena, and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear. Playing with the Keyboard and Mouse gives you the smooth control of a PC Mouse and Keyboard, but I do recommend getting the official Keyboard and Mouse. There are four modes of play, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Domination. There are 12 weapons in the game, all which possess Primary, and Alternate Attack modes, Like the Flak Cannon, if you press Primary Attack, it will fire like a shotgun-type weapon, If you press Alternate Attack, it will fire a Flak Grenade, which explodes with deadly results.
Story- 10/10
There isn't much of a story, all you do is frag your opponents, which is surprisingly fun. The single player has a story where you go up ladders (Tournament Stages, Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, etc.) and you have to become Unreal Grand Champion, and beat Xan, the Unreal Grand Master.
Replayability- 10/10
There are 70 levels, which don't get tiring, and come in wide varieties, like Castles, Warehouses, or Space Stations. You will never get tired of fragging ''Bots'' or players online, or your friends, via four controllers. Also you can play against ''Bots'' (Computer controlled opponents), which on the Novice level, are slow, and are stupid (I.E. use the Rocket Launcher in close quarters), on Skilled, their faster and smarter, on Godlike, they are even smarter, and are formidable opponents, on Inhumane, they are crack-shots, are very smart, and they chase you!, their like Threshbots, I haven't been able to beat the game on Inhuman at all, and I've been playing FPS's since Quake!
To Buy or to Rent?- BUY
This is a definite buy, with over 65 levels, (69 to be exact) this game is a must have, and will make a good addition to any hardcore Dreamcast Gamers game collection.
