"The force is strong with this one"

Graphics 710

The graphics, while not spectacular, are definitly functional. Robots spark as you slash into them with your lightsaber, which gives off its own force-filled luminescence.

Sound 710

The orchestral soundtrack is great, and fits the mood of the game wonderfully but unfortunately it doesn't sound as clear as it could. The sound effects are top-notch, from the hum of your lightsaber to the mechanical scraping of a moving battle droid everything sounds wonderful, one minor complaint is that whenever you pick up an item or power up your character laughs like Yoda.

Control 910

3-button lightsaber dueling allows for versatile moves and combos that are pulled off wonderfully. The b button allows you to jump and, when pressed a second time, a double jump. Deflecting blaster shots was done perfectly, it takes practice but isn't too frustrating, simply bring your lightsaber into a defensive position (with the L button) right as the blast is about to hit you. The only problem is that all force abilities are executed with the L button held down, making it tough to block and then quickly get back into the fight with your own combos.

Gameplay 1010

This is the best arcade style beat 'em up since the 16-bit era, the game has plenty of combos which make for adrenaline soaked battles. Deflecting blaster shots adds a new level to the game and it gives more freedom of movement than Dynamite Cop or Zombie Revenge, the jumping sequences are, for the most part, well designed and well integrated. The game also gives you the chance to zip around on a hoverbike or cruise through Theed in a Trade Federation hover tank.

Replay 810

A multitude of characters and two difficulty levels don't change the fact that the game contains only 10 levels (other than secret ones) but the unlockable goodies keep you interested.

Multiplayer 1010

This is one of the best 2-player games around. If you are a Star Wars fan and have a friend who likes it too then this is the game for you. Slashing down Trade Federation Battle Droids is even more fun with a friend.

Overall (not an average) 910

Though it struggles a little in the AV department, Jedi Power Battles comes through with great control, excellent gameplay, and a top rate multiplayer mode. What Star Wars fan doesn't want to duel Darth Maul or leap across the sarlac pit?
