Review by t 002 Tyrant

"Even cooler than the original CODE: Veronica..."

I bought this game even though I already have the original REC:V, and I have to say, I don't regret it. While there is no real difference in gameplay, and only a minimal story change, REC:V Complete is still a fun and enjoyable game even if you've played the original.

Story [8/1Ø]
The story is pretty good and provides an excellent addition to the Resident Evil series's whole Umbrella saga. While the Wesker's Report DVD that comes with the PS2 version of this game adds even more to the RE story-line, REC:V Complete has an interesting enough plot on its own. Wesker's increased role in this version of the game provides even more tension, action, etc. than before.

Controls [1Ø/1Ø]
A lot of people complain about the Resident Evil series's control-style, but once you get used to it, it's the most practical scheme to use for this type of game. The 18ذ quick-turn feature that was first brought into play in RE3 adds even more to an already excellent control-scheme.

Graphics [1Ø/1Ø]
With beautifully-crafted character models and a creepy atmosphere, REC:V Complete has some of the best graphics I've seen in a Dreamcast game. Often are the times when I just sat there and admired the detail put into this game.

Music/Sounds [1Ø/1Ø]
All Resident Evil games have amazing and atmospheric music, and REC:V Complete is no exception. The many renditions of the Berceuse are especially notable, but there are several other great compositions as well.
Sound effects in this game are excellent. Be it a zombie moaning or a shotgun burst, you sometimes feel as though the game is actually happening around you.

Challenge [8/1Ø]
Even a seasoned RE player will be challenged their first time through. If the first disk seems easy, don't worry; the second disk and the Hunters therein is where the game really gets hard. After you play through a couple of times though, it should get easier. It did for me at least.

Replayabilty [7/1Ø]
After you play through the main game, unless you're a big RE fan like me, you probably won't want to do it again for a while (except maybe to get the infinite Rocket Launcher). What will probably draw you back time and again though is the Battle Game. It's fun and fast-paced and if you want a challenge, you can play it as Wesker.

Fun Factor [1Ø/1Ø]
This game provides much fun and enjoyment. The thrill of running head-first into a group of zombies and attacking them with a knife just can't be beat...

Overall [1Ø/1Ø]
Great graphics, near-perfect sound, etc. make this an excellent game. If you dislike blood and are easily scared, than you probably won't like it, but for everyone else, this is a great game and I recommend it.

Rent? Buy?
I seriously doubt that you can find this game for rent anywhere as it's an import, but I'd still recommend buying it even if you could, especially if you're an RE fan. It may cost quite a bit, but it's definitely worth it.
