Tennis 2K2

"Tennis fan or not this games for everyone!!!"

After having played the first virtua tennis and hearing about a second sequel coming i was extremely excited.
Finally the day came. It was out in Europe and i bought it online. A week later i received it from the mail. I opened the package and there it was......One of the BEST dreamcast titles ever made!
I put it in my dc and started playing and i tell you that it's fully worth the wait!

Graphics 10
Absolutely stunning graphics, smooth animation and very detailed making it even more realistically simulated than the first one. The players actually look like themselves instead of looking like dummies.

Controls 10
This is much better than virtua tennis because the controls feels tighter which is good so it's harder to score points against CPU or your friends. The game has implemented a new slice button (besides the top spin button and lob button) which is a nice addition enabling you to slow down a ball that has been hit using top spin. This adds variety to the game.

Gameplay 10
This is where vt2 really shines. The game has revamped the world tour mode enabling you to create your own character (male and female). This is really boosts the replay value of the game since there are so many combinations that you can make just from a few models of faces,hair colour, skin colour, height, weight etc. It also has more courts which you can purchase after winning tournaments in the world tour mode (there's about a massive 28 courts in total). Aside from this you can also raise your created characters stats by doing training missions and can also gain and buy raquets, tennis wear and equipment. Honestly world tour mode will keep you awake 24/7 (well not really but you get my point.)

Sound 10
Not much is needed to make a tennis game sound great. Just a couple of tennis shoe squeaks here and there and the sound of the ball hitting the raquet. Still pretty excellent though.

Just on the side note i know that i've been bragging on about how excellent this game is but i should just say a couple of minor flaws. First and foremost the computer partner during your doubles matches in world tour mode sometimes acts so stupid and doesn't even attempt to hit the ball even if it's close to it. That get extremely annoying especially during crucial points. Lastly if you and a friend go head to head in a mixed double match with both your created characters, it will slow down quite a bit during your games because it has to continually load each of you and your friends created characters from the vmu. Besides my nagging faults about the game i assure you that it's a great buy and should definately be in your dreamcast collection!
