"Yes, this is one of the best fighters ever made. Definitly."

For all of you who have never played a game in the VS series, let me explain a few things to you. I'll assume you've played a game in the Street Fighter or Street Fighter Alpha series before. If you haven't.. Well, you just aren't in luck today, are you? The VS series is popular for it's insane, freakish, flashy attacks. This is very unlike a normal Street Fighter, because this focuses much more on doing huge attacks. Also, this allows you to get 10-20 hit combos extremely easily. Consequently, the game is more whacked up than my ignmail account. And man is it whacked up..

The graphics in the game are very cool 2D-anime style graphics. Very sharp and clear. The game looks very good. The backgrounds I found to be somewhat odd, not being themed to anyone except for a few. Personally, I wish everyone had their own level. There's a Spiderman/Venom level, Wolverine/Gambit level, and Megaman level. As for the rest of the levels, I don't believe they're themed to anything. Explain this to me. Why in hell does it occur that no one else has a level?! WE HAVE 10 MORE CHARACTERS TO GIVE A LEVEL TO!! Jeez!!

The sound and music in the game is really good. Wolverine and Captain America have some of the coolest music ever. You see, each character does have their own music. When they come out after their ally dies, their music starts playing. Stages for few, music for all. How odd. The sounds for each attack are really good, and sound right for the attack. From the blades of Wolverine's claws to Spiderman's webbing, it all sounds good.

One of my major nags about the game comes from after playing the Playstation version. On the PSX, once you beat it with someone and saved your game, you could see their ending anytime, and you could see some cool art as well. On the Dreamcast, you can't see the endings any time, and the art is gone. A few more noticeable mentions about the differences between the two are that the PSX doesn't have a bar you have to fill to do your hyper combos. The PSX only lets you fight with one character at a time. (For those of you that have played the arcade version to death, this is a major let down) And the last mention: Hidden Characters. Now, this might be a spoiler for some of you. But I just feel this needs to be mentioned. If you don't want to read anything about hidden characters, skip to the next paragraph now. The Playstation version allowed you to unlock hidden characters by just simply beating the game with a specific character. The Dreamcast makes you do a specific amount of hyper combo finishers, duel team finishers, not lose, and get first hit. Dear lord, that's insane. It's far too difficult to unlock them. Then again, that does add some replay factor to the game.

Speaking of replay factor, the game is great on replay. It has multiplayer for two and four people (Four?! I don't know how it works, as I haven't tried it before. But if I ever get the chance, I'm tryin' it.) It's very fun to just go through 1-player even. The game is very fun, but could have used some of the more current techniques for replay being used in the vs series. Those being getting points for how well you fought, etc.. Then using them to buy new colors, buy hidden characters, etc. That works wonderfully for adding replay. But this is good enough. You'll get tired of it eventually, but hey. Almost all the time you get tired of something eventually.

Now, it's time for me to break in with a little annoyance factor of the game. The final boss (Onslaught) is very cheap and hard to beat until you know a few tricks here and there. Rapid kick with Chun Li works wonders..

Anyway. The game is very fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone who can get out of their hole that they're hiding in, to try and avoid the VS series because it's not ''Serious''. Who gives a rat. Games are for fun, and even if it's not like Street Fighter 3 in normal fighting, it's fun in it's own way.

Buy it, you won't regret it.
