Nightmare Creatures II
Review by BCostigan
"Very much improved from the first!"
I believe that NIGHTMARE CREATURES 2 was a great game. It has a nice dark scary mood to it and the atmospheres look as though they came straight out of hell.
STORY: (9/10)
The story takes place several centuries later from the first Nightmare Creatures. The worshippers of Darkness have again awakened Dr. Crowley once again to wreak havoc on the entire world. You, a lone warrior, must travel across the world stopping Crowley in his steps.
Get ready to fight hordes of dangerous demons in dark atmospheres that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is NIGHTMARE CREATURES 2!
I think that the story is absolutely wonderful. I gave it a 9 because, it kind of goes along the same lines as the first Nightmare Creatures game did. I am not saying that either game had a bad plot but there could have been a stronger one.
GRAPHICS: (7/10)
I believe that the graphics could have been so much more improved than what they originally are.
The character models are very nice looking but, could have used a little more face expression than what it looks like. I mean, how can you have the same look on your face throughout the entire game?
The levels look dark and dreary, a perfect place for a scary game to take place. Sometimes the levels look very sloppily done and sometimes they look unfinished. A little more detail in the levels could have been nicer.
The monsters look good and scary. The models for them are absolutely fabulous. Every creature has their own characteristics and ways that they would attack you.
SOUND: (4/10)
This is the worst thing in the entire game. The sound will sometimes go out when you attack a creature at a very rapid speed. At other times the sound will kick in and be very loud. This may cause you to jump out of your seat.
The music for the entire game is great. Rob Zombie did a great job when doing songs for the game. It makes the game really scary but, very cool both at the same time. Too bad that the music is only used when there are cut-scenes. But, either way the music is good.
But, to say the least, the sound could have been greatly improved.
CONTROLS: (10/10)
The controls are great. They are very easy to learn and use. The combos are also very easy to do. Too bad that the combos are very limited.
I think that the controls are very nice and responsive. These for one don’t need to be changed at all. The controls are perfect as they are.
GAMEPLAY: (8/10)
I think that the gameplay is very well done. Although, I was expecting more puzzles other than just doing switches and what not.
I think that when you fight creatures it is very fun but it also can get very tedious when the creatures block every one of your attacks. You kind of have to watch their attack patterns and how they move around you. Also, some of the creatures take a great deal of damage from you. So watch out for creatures that use weapons instead of their bare hands or claws.
FINAL RATING: (7/10)
I think that Nightmare Creatures 2 is a great game that everybody should try out. Although, it does need some improvements here and there, it is very enjoyable.
I suggest that you rent this game first before you decide to actually buy it. It may appeal to some people but for others, it may not appeal to them at all.
