Unreal Tournament

"If you have a girlfriend, Stay away from this game!"
Gameplay
Gameplay is the most important aspect of every game. It makes it or breaks it. And for UT, it makes it. You can choose from about 25 skins(character models), and you get uber co0 guns. For using weapons, there is a primary mode of firing your weapon, and there is an alternate mode by pressing the button you assigned it to. The rocket launcher can lock on to the target and fire up to 6 missiles each time you shoot it. 6 missiles! The Biorifle (Which I call the DEATH GUN) can be loaded up with alternate fire to release a giant slime ball. Anyone who is hit directly by it explodes. The primary fire just shoots smaller slime balls at a fast rate. The pulse cannon shoots little green balls at a very fast rate. the secondary fire is a big green stream of pulse. The ripper, another favorite among all UT players, shoots razors blade at a very fast rate, which bounce off walls until hitting a target. The secondary fire shoots them at a smaller rate and they explode when they hit the ground, causing splash damage.
The sniper rifle... ahhh... the sniper rifle! This is your typical military issue sniper rifle. Primary is just shooting it. Pressing the secondary button will cause you to zoom in. The shock rifle shoots big blue lasers, which can knock a target far away. The secondary fire shoots a blue ball, and shooting the blue ball with your primary fire
causes a big explosion. That explosion is called the shock combo. I could tell you about the other weapons, but what fun would that be for you? You will just have to pick it up and play for yourself! There are 4 different gameplay modes, and there are also modifiers, which enhance the gameplay. Deathmatch, Capture the flag, Domination, and Team Deathmatch are the 4 gameplay modes.
Capture the flag is my favorite. You have to use strategy and teamwork to get into the other teams base, capture their flag, and then bring it back to your flag safely without dying. This capture the flag is NOTHING like Halo's capture the flag. you can actually shoot when you have the flag on you.
Deathmatch is your typical deathmatch, kill everyone, don't die, and win! The one with the most frags wins, but be careful how many times you die, because if someone finishes with the same score as you, but less deaths, they are ahead of you.
Domination is about going to certain capture points and controlling them. You get points for every second you have an area controlled.
Team Deathmatch is like deathmatch, but you are on a team and you add your teams points up to determine who wins.
Story
There isn't really a story on the Dreamcast version, because the developers rushed the game. SO I don't think I'm allowed to tell you what the story is on PC, cause I'm doing the Dreamcast version. Let's just say You have to fight to survive and you have to fight for popularity.
Audio/Video
The graphics are mediocre for the Dreamcast's capabilities, sometimes there is slowdown. They are not jaggy, but they are not gorgeous. There is so much detail in everything you see, that there will occasionally be slowdown. The sound is pretty well done. There are auto-taunts when you kill someone like ''You be dead'' and ''Stay down!''. Some of them are quite humorous. The sound effects are realistic, especially with the machine gun types. If you have surround sound you will be totally immersed in this game.
Replayability
When you play through the single player mode, you will get sick of it. But that's why there is ONLINE play! Online play is something you will lose your girlfriend over. It is more addicting than a Koala bear is addicted to eucalyptus leaves. This will have you inside for a very long time. Replayability is what makes this game so great.
Buy it? Or rent it?
This game is a definite buy. Everyone who I know that has UT loves it. You can go ahead and rent it, but its a waste of $5 because you will want to buy it as soon as you play your first match. thats $5 you could spend buying 3 bags of potato chips, or a book. Anyone who remotely likes FPS's will LOVE this game. Don't give it a try.. give it a buy!
