"Bruce Campbell saves this game"

I don't hate this game, but it's not breaking new ground or really doing anything other than just being another horror video game. Ah well, maybe the sequel will be better.

Gameplay:

Actually not bad, although you didn't get enough freedom, and Ash did tend to slide when he turned to move into another direction. One thing I liked about this game is the ability to get Bruce to say one of his one-liners at will, this brightened up the gameplay and broke the crappy silences when nothing's happening in the game.

This game isn't especially hard, but if you're not patient enough you'll find yourself looking up reviews on the net. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Story:

I didn't like this about the game, it didn't make sense. In the movies, Ash is desperately fighting for his life and trying to escape the haunted cabin with everything he's got. So why does he go back for no reason 8 years later?

I like that they squeezed all the best bits of the film into the game, but it doesn't make up for the gameplay and story not being well thought out.

Audio:

Groovy. Loads of clips from the greatest deliverer of one liners himself, you'll definitely laugh while playing this and the music isn't too bad either. It's straight from the films and you'll find some familiar sound effects in there as well such as ''The force''.

There are no sound error or bugs in the game, Bruce delivers every line with humour and feeling. You'll definitely be satisfied with this aspect of the game.

Graphics:

Not bad, considering I played the Dreamcast version. Not good either, seeing as it was a port from the PS1 version. Not any glitches or any other bad things graphics-wise with the game, so no complaints here.

The surroundings are quite detailed such as the forest having trees blowing, the cavin having a rocking chair, so you won't be disappointed with the graphics really, good character models and good surroundings make for a good looking game.

Replayability:

I haven't played through this game twice myself, but I could see myself doing it again. Although there were times when I was frustrated by a particular puzzle that I decided to just drop it and play later. Die hard fans will probably play through this a number of times, however.

To buy or rent:

Hmmm, tough choice. If you're a Bruce fan then you'll probably want to buy it, but if you're not, what reason would you have for buying it? So I guess buy...
