Confidential Mission
Review by DrAndonuts
"It's not the size; It's how you use it"
Well, I went to my local pawn shop one day, because I was waiting for the movie I was going to see to begin (which, ironically, was Austin Powers 3). I was looking around and saw that they had a pile of DC games, for a very cheap price. I bought two games that day, one I was disappointed with and one I found enjoyable. The two games were Sonic Adventure 2 and Confidential Mission. Read on to see which is which.
Graphics- 9/10
A superb job on Sega's part from perfectly transferring the great graphics on the arcade version to the Dreamcast. The character models are great, and the environments are too. As are the small little graphic effects in the game, like shooting leaves off of a plastics tree. The graphics in this game surely will not disappoint you.
Music- 9/10
The songs played throughout the game give it an old 70's spy movie style. The are swanky and jazzy and perfectly fit the game. The voices are good, too. They are just flat-out hilarious. You can tell this game was an obvious spoof of spy movies, and the voices just give it that feel. ''No, we have to get the disk back.'' Play the game and you'll see the humor in that line.
Control- 10/10 (Gun) 8/10 (Controller) 4/10 (Mouse)
This is a gun game, so you should obviously have the gun. It is what makes the game. But the controller isn't terrible, though, it just makes things terribly hard. And forget the mouse. It just sucks the fun out of it. It makes things WAY too easy, and trust me, you have to make ways for this game to last longer, but more on that later. Overall, definitely go for the gun.
Gameplay- 9/10
The gameplay here is great. Although some people may say it is a Virtua Cop ripoff, it really isn't. Sure it has the same type of engine, but it adds a great combo system. Shoot an enemy three times and get bonus points. Shoot an enemy on his gun arm, and get a justice shot bonus. The game is great at rewarding you for accuracy, which is something that all gun games should do. Overall, the gameplay rocks, and will be why you come back for more.
Replay/ Value- 3/10
Man, I sure do wish that Sega would have added some more bonus features, like they did with House of the Dead 2. Basically, all you have is Main Game, Reverse game (where the game takes you on a different view of the levels, and multiplayer. That is all. But you can get this game for cheap, if you can find it. I got mine for 8 bucks, and it was worth it.
Overall- 8/10
This is one of the pleasant surprises I have had lately. The gameplay, graphics and music are all wonderful, but the fact that you'll probably be done with it in 3 days is really bad. But nevertheless, if you can get this game for less than 20 bucks, you should do it.
