"The grooviest game out there"

This is my first review ever created by me, so bear with me folks. I decided to do a review on Space Channel 5 because it is one of my favorite games in the world. Rember guys and girls, it is my first review, so it might be a little on the confusing side. I love everything about this game: the backgrounds, the bosses, Ulala (get it? ooh-la-la), just about everything. Anyway, let's begin the revies shall we?

Story: 7

Not one of the best stories I have come across, but seriously, it won't really matter much once you actually start out. Another flaw with the story of this game is the fact that there is barely any kind of background story for Ulala at all. But trust me, they will tell you enough of what is going on to actually enjoy the game. Not the best story, but enough to get you started. Besides, it's the gameplay that really counts, right?

Gameplay: 10

This is the part of the game that makes me really enjoy this game. This is what makes the game everything that people love. The gameplay is solid, and fairly simple. The game is played in a Simon Says kinda way. You repeat on your controller what the aliens (or Morolians as they are called in the game) say EXACTLY. Once they have finished, it is your turn. Sounds simple, right? Well it can get very hard in the latter stages. The one downfall of this game is the length. It only has four levels. That's right, four levels. But once you finish the game, there is extra things for you to do. Most of the levels have been replaced with other levels that are slightly harder than what they were before. I love the bosses too (my favorite being the mini-boss for level 4).

Controls: 8

The controls are very important in a game that is played in a Simon Says variety, and sometimes, they will leave you wanting to throw your Dreamcast out of the window. Not to worry though, the controls are won't let you down, most of the time.

Graphics: 9

For a Dreamcast game, the graphics are ahead of its time. I love the way how the light bouces off the floor just as it would if it was in real life. Ulala is done to perfection, and the background for this game isn't half bad either. One problem is the way sometimes Ulala moves. Her waist moves sometime like she has no ribs.

Rent or buy?

In my opinion, if you can find this game and a Dreamcast, I would definitely buy this game. I think it is a must-have.
