Record of Lodoss War

"Must Have if you action RPG's"
Record of Lodoss War was released in the waining days of the Dreamcast's life, however it is one the most fun action RPG's I've ever played. This game is exactly like Baldur's Gate (or Diablo) and is just as fun. It is very loosely based on the anime movie of the same name and takes place some years after the events in the movie. You'll meet all the characters for the movie such as Wart, Parn, Ashram, Deedlit, Slain, Karla and others.
Graphics 7/10: Not the prettiest dreamcast game out there, but its decent and with the addictiveness of the gameplay you wont mind at all as your constantly searching for new armor or weapons. The levels are beautifully drawn and the character models while not the greatest turn out ok when you load them up with the rarest and most enchanted armor and weapons you can find.
Sound 8/10: The music is fits the mood of the game perfectly and is great. The sounds effects of battle however is somewhat lackluster as it just contains the same canned sword clashes heard in every other fantasy title.
Replay 10/10: The only reason it gets a 10 out of 10 is that after you beat the last boss you can still continue on in the game and collect more weapons and armor and find rare ancient artifacts that will keep you interested in the game for months. In addition there are dragons and mini bosses for you to defeat if you didnt beat them on your way to the final boss (which is entirely possible since they are only side quests)
Overall 9/10: I loved this game, you will put in at least 35 hours of gameplay into it as you customize your character with new armor and weapons and then modify those weapons and armor with magic spells you pick up along the way. There are tons of side quests and lots of different places for you to go. If you like Baldur's Gate you'll love Lodoss War because not only is it a much longer game (Baldur's Gate took me 10 hours) but it consists of the same sort of combat only with tons more stages and the ability to customize your weapons and armor for thousands of different combinations. If you like action RPG's at all you should definetly go out and buy this game. And since it was released towards the end of the dreamcasts life span it is becoming increasingly rare to find you might want to hit up ebay.
