Resident Evil Code: Veronica
Review by NDavis
"Is this real or not?"
I have to admit I was one of those stubborn gamers that rejected the idea of owning a Dreamcast. But by being a longtime follower of the Playstation's Resident Evil series I finally broke down and purchased a Dreamcast. And believe me if I sound like any of you readers out there go out and shell $250 on the system and this game.
Graphics 10. First off lets start with the graphics. What polygons? The characters and backgrounds are so detailed that you cannot notice that there are any polygons. The lighting effects in the game blow away any effect you have ever seen. Just shoot your gun in a poorly lit area and witness it for yourself. Even the backgrounds are polygons. Not the prerendered backgrounds from the playstation series. Every little detail in the game shows how much time and effort was put into this title. But by far the most amazing visual effect is in the cinemas. The eyes of Claire in the opening cinema bring to life the fear that she feels. Overall graphic-wise this game is a 10.
Control 8. The control has been what has turned many gamers from Resident Evil. Depending on which way you look at it this can be good or bad. It is good for people such as myself who have gotten used to the control scheme, and others who haven't. But with a little patience a newcomer can become adequate at the controls.
Sound 10. The sounds are also very phenomenal in this game. Do you get the trend here? (Everything is phenomenal) From the zombie moans to the eerie ambience of the environment the classic resident evil feel is here.
Value 10. For value this game is a must buy. With enough secrets to make gamers come back for seconds this game has incredible replay value. It is easily the longest of the series and will no doubtedly be considered the best. So take my advice and buy this game right now for a good scare.
