San Francisco Rush 2049
Review by vonc0rn
"I'll still be playing this long after the year 2049"
Storyline: Storyline? Oh yeah this game does not have a storyline but it's the best damn racing game I have ever played.
Graphics: Incredible, amazing then, amazing now. The cars have reflection maps on them and the tracks are utterly beautiful. There is absolutely no pop up or glitches as you race across the long and fun tracks. The only graphic thing I hate about the game is that when your car's explode from when you crash into a wall too hard or land on your roof, the explosion looks like a mini atomic bomb went off.
Vehicles: There isn't really cast but there are cars, you get nice variety of cars including ones with a big rocket thing on the back and an F-1 formula car. And you can unlock parts for your car to increase its speed, acceleration, etc. Nice stuff here.
Soundtrack: The music in this game is average, nothing too special, it doesn't really matter all that much to me. But what I highly recommend is to play Metro by System of a Down in the Metro track, it just goes so well together!
Tracks: You get 19 tracks as it says on the box but it's a little misleading. They count the backwards and mirrored tracks as a track although they are kind of the same. Oh well but the tracks are great. Since the game takes place in San Francisco, you get to see some famous landmarks such as that triangular building and that one curvy street oh god I forgot the name of it Any who, the tracks are very fun and your cars go very fast. They are filled with lots of shortcuts going backwards or forwards, not only are there racing tracks but stunt arenas! That's right, in the stunt arenas you control your cars with wings and you do tricks. I'ts fun stuff and in multiplayer you can do Battle mode which is also very fun and is great for parties (the game is 4 player by the way). So yeah lots of tracks here for you to race in.
Multiplayer: 4 players, lots of fun. Battle Arena where you shoot each other with multiple weapons that you can pick up, of course you can also do normal racing but stunt is the greatest. It's fun factor cannot be described in words, it is that good.
Extras: hmm, well you can go on the internet on the Dreamcast and race ghosts and crap but nobody does it so who cares.
Final thoughts: Overall, this is the greatest racing experience I have had. It may not be too realistic but this arcade style of racing just never gets old and I still play it to this day (came out sometime in 2000). I don't have any complaints about this game. It's that great. Pick this one up, it's also available for the N64.
Final score: 10/10
