"Tekken 3's beta version which hasn't been test-played yet."
When I heard Bleem! released their Tekken 3 version, I already had the PS and the Tekken 3, but I went to the game shop anyways to buy the Tekken 3 version of Bleem!. I already got a Dreamcast a short while ago, and I decided to check it out, since the graphics were supposed to be better. What I found wasn't Tekken 3, more like a beta version of tekken 3 with no test-playing. I'm not going to review Tekken 3, I'll be reviewing how Bleem! is different from the PS version of Tekken 3.
Graphics (8/10)
The graphics look almost exactly the same as the PS version, if not worse. It IS slightly different, but I don't know what they did with it. It just doesn't look right. Yes. The lines are smoother and the colors now seem to be more visually impressive, The character models themselves haven't been improved on too much, and the background often gets blurry, and even the characters blur sometimes.
Sound (7/10)
Sounds are often muffled, and they aren't as crisp as the PS version of Tekken 3. Some sounds are even missing, not even existing at all. I really wonder what Bleem! was doing in the Graphics and Sound department, but they didn't do a decent job at all.
Controls (2/10)
The MAJOR problem with this game. The PS button didn't really require the L and R buttons, just the four major button, which dreamcast had. The buttons are pushed easily, but they aren't responsive. If they are, they are slow to respond, which is a major problem especially in fighting games. This gets to be one big annoyance in the arcade mode, but since the AI isn't as cheap as Tekken 1 ore Tekken 2, you'll thank got that they didn't do a Bleem! Tekken or a Bleem! Tekken 2. It's not like a 10 hit combo is impossible, but you'll need very good timing to execute one.
Gameplay (9/10)
The gameplay seems to be intact from the PS version, although there was a simple secret when you enter theater mode and put in the Tekken 2 disc, you can watch Tekken 2 movies, but the dreamcast restarts when the lid is opened, unlike the PS version where only the BGM disappears when the lid is opened.
Replay Value (1/10)
I don't know if you should buy this in the first place, because it;s really a waste of money. Invest it in a PS instead, or if you don't have enough money, buy other Dreamcast fighters. I already have some of the good fighters for Dreamcast like Soul Calibur, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Virtua Fighter 3tb, Dead or Alive 2 and King of Fighters Evolution. Dreamcast had no shortage of fighting games. Buy these instead, because Bleem! Tekken 3 will sure be a disappointment to any Tekken fan and Non-Tekken fan.
