Marvel vs. Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom
Let's Get Crazy!
To tell you the truth, the reason I purchased a Dreamcast is for its ability to deliver arcade-perfect translations of my favorite fighting games! And boy has it met my expectations! The Dreamcast version of Marvel vs. Capcom is Capcom's arcade-perfect port of the arcade game of the same name. The Dreamcast really shows off its 2-D capabilites with this game.
As with all the vs series games, you choose a team of two characters and then follow to knock the stuffing out of your opponents tag team style! Some people contend that this type of game is just mindless button mashing, but the vs series has its own strategy and cannot be fairly compared to other games like Alpha 3. Give the vs series a chance. :)
First of all, the graphics are 105% better than the arcade's. Thankfully, some of the arcade's graphical glitches (like having War Machine disappear during a Duo Team Attack) have been fixed in the DC version. The game sprites look somewhat better on a TV screen or computer moniter than an arcade screen. And no load times! You pick your characters and 'boom!' within a second, the round has already started! After playing this game, you will want to get the other conversions of the vs series games and puke on them.
The sound is a little disappointing. The voices are a little washed out and the music could've been better. And is it just me or is Capcom intentionally hiring horrible announcers for its games? I still love Roll's theme music though.
Gameplay is perfect with an arcade stick. Without one, you'll probably won't be able to do all those double-digit combos from the arcade. Invest in an arcade stick; it'll be worth it.
This game is a great addition to your Dreamcast library. If you love 2-D games and crave a perfect arcade translation, then this is the game for you!
