Marvel vs. Capcom
Review by Ogbonna2
"Good game, but it has its flaws"
I just bought M vs. C, the newest installment. And I must say, graphically and sound wise, it does justice to the arcade version. However, there are little flaws that just take away from the experience.
The Good:
At first I had a great time going through the game. I was amazed at the fast framerate and the accuracy of the combo system. I was, for the second time, impressed with the processing power of the Dreamcast. There were no missing frames of animation, and the adjustable speed option really blew my mind away.
The Gripes:
The problem is that this lasted for the first thirty minutes of gameplay. It was then that I noticed the little cracks in the apparantly solid fighter. You cannot play this game alone. It just isn't fun beating the crap out of the computer for the 150th time. You must have a group of friends that are really into to it to have a good time. Playing with the standard controller is like running around with scissors: not advised. Go out and get yourself a joystick. It'll save you lots of finger cramps from having to contort your hand around the akward controller (I much prefer the saturn controllers to the dreamcast controllers). Finally, the game gets overly repetitive. After pulling off the same thirty hit combo, you get just a little tired from the endless head bashing.
Finish it:
Thank you Capcom for bringing out such a beautiful game, but I feel cheated of my 50 dollars. A game may be arcade perfect, but it is not perfect away from the arcade. I suggest you take a lesson from Namco Capcom and learn how to create a fuller game by adding more of a story line. Some may like an endless beat 'em up, but I want something with a little more depth.
