Time Stalkers

Review by Patriko2000

"I can't believe I wasted my money on this piece of junk!"

So I walk into blockbuster one day, hoping to get a descent role playing game. I stumble upon this newbie (to me) Time Stalkers, and think to myself ''this sounds promising.'' So I pay the six bucks, take it home, and pop it into my Dreamcast. I turn it on to reveal ... well ... crap. I started a new game, and after sitting through the seemingly endless beginning ''movie,'' I started to play a little bit. After about an hour, I'd already beaten about half the game, so I turned it off, and took it back. I could already tell this game was a waste of a GD-Rom, so shame on Sega for ever making such a product.

Graphics are, actually, okay. Though it looks like Nintendo 64 graphics, the framerate is still up to Dreamcast par. It is very speedy (considering the beginning movie seemed like an eternity), and the characters looked interesting (especially the sheepish-looking butler). I give graphics a five out of ten, for trying.

Sound gets a two. It's as simple as that. The slow-sounding background music and opening theme remind me of the first-look failure Chu Chu Rocket. There are no in-game voices, except for the occasional grunt, which definitely does not deserve to be in the Dreamcast library. Once again, sound gets a pathetic two.

Gameplay is it's worst feature. The controls that a two year old can handle and the pathetic little story line present a complicating environment around the title. I thought ''it's just another one of those 'the hero comes in, saves the girl, and beats the bad guy' kind of games.'' Though I respect games of this genre, Zelda being the key game, I look down on the creators of this failure for creating such a dud.

So, in conclusion, you shouldn't ever even pick up this game. It is the worst Dreamcast game I have ever layed my eyes on, and I hope I never have to play it again. Just remember my words: ''I can't believe I wasted my money on this piece of junk!''
