INTRODUCTION

Hi!I'm posting this character guide for mario power tennis for people who need
in-depth information on the characters of the game.Every character is unique,
some are more powerful that others,some are faster and some are harder to
control.Choosing a character with a specific type other than an all-around is
just your playing style.

The Game
===============================================================================
The point of the game is to get the ball over the net without your opponent
trying to get it over to you. This can be tricky because your opponents have
lunges,some have great speed, sometimes good reach and even defensive power
shots.Lets move on to the types of power shots. Each character has 2, a
offensive and a defensive. For each character, these shots have different
effects. An offensive power shots give effects when the ball is struck.Most
offensive power Shots goes in high speeds.Defensive power shots can return the
ball if its blown far away.These shots are not as strong as the offensive shots
but they can be quite handy.
***Note: Not all defensive power shots can return the ball.

Types of Characters

There are 6 types of characters:
1. All-Around: Charcters that have POWER,DEFENCE,SPEED,TECHNIQUE,and TRICKY
attributes. These characters are well balanced and great for
begginers but not very good against experienced players.
2. Power: Characters that can hit the ball really hard. Power characters are
mostly used in teams since they lack speed. Fortunatly, they have a
good reach, making them a good net player.
3. Defense: Characters that have excellent reach. Defense characters have
moderate speed and power, making them a good team and net player.
4. Speed: Characters that has excellent speed to reach the ball in time. These
characters have moderate power and reach but they can make a good
teammate and they are capable of doing well on their own.
5. Technique: Characters that have the ability to hit the ball into the deepest
corners of the court. They also have incredible control over the
ball.Having average speed, power and reach, these players can do
well in 1 on 1 matches.
6. Tricky: Characters that can hit a curve ball. These charcters are sort of
hard to control, making them not suitable for begginers. The curve
balls can confuse the other players. They either have high or low
speed, power, or reach, making them only for players with more
experience.

Here is the in-depth information on the characters on Mario Power Tennis!
I will talk about:
-each character(their advantages,comparisons,recommendations,and disadvantages)

-power: how hard a character can hit the ball.
-speed: how fast a character can travell in the court.
-Reach: how far the ball has to be until you can hit it.
-Serve: how easy it is to score a NICE; the power of the serve.
-Lunge: how far a character "dives" to reach the ball.
-Control: how good a character can hit the ball into the corners.
-their PROS (advantages) and their CONS (disadvantages).
-their power shots; offensive and defensive.
-my overall statement about the characters and their character rating (begginer

***NOTE: For defensive power shots, some of them may be sent with a SMASH POINT
if the ball was being sent to you with high trajectory. A smash point
is when the ball is hit with extremely high trajectory that a star
appears at the bottom of the ball, indicating where you should hit it.
Example: If a smash hit was sent by Bowser and DK hits it with hit
defensive shot,there is a good chance it will be sent ball with a
SMASH POINT.

Well, Mario is the most balanced character in the game like a lot of
other Mario games.He certainly isn't the best character but he is all-around
rating makes him suitable for begginers.Experts might not choose him because he
kind of lacks speed and his reach isn't the best.His serve is alright and he is
quite strong.This makes him more of a power character.
Stats:
Power: 7/10
Speed: 7/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Mario is fairly strong.
-He is very balanced making him alright for 1 on 1 matches.
*CONS:
-He lacks speed.
-His lunge and reach is abit limited.
-Not a good defense power shot.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Mario transforms his racket into a hammer and hits the ball as a
FLAT SHOT with extra speed. Anyone who hits the ball will be sent
back really far.
Defensive: Mario uses his Mario Tornado to hover to the ball and hit it back as
a TOP SPIN. If the ball is too far,this shot might fail.Not a really
good defensive shot.
OVERALL: Mario is a stable, balanced character. He's great for begginers and
he's fairly strong. Overall, he is a good character, but i wouldn't
use him in serious matches.

Ah, Mario's little brother,Luigi.He is the other half of the All-Around
characters and apparently better than his older brother.He has better reach
than Mario and more control over the ball.This makes hime more of a Technique
and a Defense character.Unfortunatly, he is abit weaker and his serve is not as
strong, making Luigi a more reliabe partner than going solo. His lunge is abit
better than Mario.
Stats:
Power: 6/10
Speed: 7/10
Reach: 7/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS.:
-Luigi has good reach.
-He has a better lunge than Mario.
-Has more control over the ball.
*CONS:
-He lacks speed.
-Not as strong a Mario.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Luigi transforms his racket into a squeky hammer and hits the ball
as a SLICE with better speed. Anyone who hits the ball will be sent
far(not as far as Mario's) and gets their controls reversed.
Defensive: Luigi throws his racket toward the ball and uses his Poltergust 3000
to suck the ball to the racket. The ball will be sent back as a
SLICE. Always returns the ball.
OVERALL: Luigi is a prime defense character, making him an great teammate.
He is also good for begginers. I recommend him over Mario. But still,
he is only slightly better than Mario.

Princess Peach takes foot in the tennis court to beat everyone in sight.
Princess Peach is defenitly one of the best characters in the game. Not only
does she have an amazing technique rating, her power shots doesn't show any
obvious weaknesses. Too bad her power and serves aren't too strong. Having
average reach and lunge, the princess can play a mean tennis game.

Power: 6/10
Speed: 7/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Peach has excellent control over the ball.
-Having average reach and lunge, she could be a good net player.
*CONS:
-She doesn't have a lot of power.
-Her serve isn't the best.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Peach spins around with hearts circling her then smacks the ball.
The ball she hits will have an annoying curve,will be sent as a
SLICE,and if the ball is struck,the player who returned the ball
will end up running to the net.
Defensive: Peach blows a kiss. The kiss follows the ball and somehow attracts
it back to Peach. Peach then hits the ball as a LOB. This always
returns the ball.
OVERALL: Peach is a very challenging oppenent. Her stats are high (except serve
and power), making her an excellent teammate and an even better solo
player. She's great for begginers and experts.

Daisy technique rating isn't as good as Peach, but fornatley, Daisy has
some better stats.Daisy is slightly faster than Peach.She's also abit stronger
and has a better serve.She has the same lunge as Peach but unfortunatley, her
power shot (defense) isn't that good. Daisy is definetly a great character that
is both a single and a team player.She's not a very good net player since Peach
has more reach than her.

*PROS:
-Daisy has great control over the ball.
-She has good speed.
-She has a fairly strong serve.

-Her defensive power shot doesnt always return.
-She's not a good net player.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Daisy turns her racket into a giant flower. The shot has a curve and
when returned, the player will be knocked back and will rush to the
net.The flower has one these 3 colors:red,pink,blue. The color
represents the shot. A RED flower is a TOP SPIN. A PINK flower is
a SMASH. A BLUE flower is a SLICE.
Defensive: Daisy looks towards the ball, then lunges towards the ball over a
flower bed. This does not always return.
OVERALL: Daisy has her advantages and disadvantages, but stats show only a few
weaknesses. Daisy may not be the best for begginers, but she's stable
with someone with abit more experience or experts.

Wario is definetly one of the worst characters in the game. Not only
does he have poor speed, he is the weakest power character. Luckly, he has a
slightly good lunge to make up for his speed.His reach is not very good either.
He is definetly good only for experts.I would not advise him to people who are
new to the game.

*PROS:
-Wario has a slightly good lunge.
-He is strong.
-He has a powerful serve.

-He is very slow.
-He's reach isn't very good.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Wario uses the Handcuffs-n-Hammer Bowser gave to him. The handcuffs
locks on to him and the hammer hits him on head and electricutes
him. He then smacks the ball as a TOP SPIN. It moves straight and
anyone who hits it will get electricuted for about 2 seconds.
Defensive: Wario pulls out an extending arm with a tennis racket. He streches
it to reach the ball. It is sent as a TOP SPIN. Always works.
OVERALL: Wario is a very poor character in terms of speed and reach. Do not him
in serious games.Experts only!

Waluigi is not a very useful character. He defintley better than his
counter-part, Wario, in many ways. Waluigi may be weaker than Wario, but he is
faster compared to him (but he's still slow), has more reach, and has more
control over the ball. Even though Waluigi is superior to Wario, he's still not
a very good character. He does better in teams than solo
matches. Experience players to experts is recommended.

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Waluigi has great reach.
-He's a very good teammate.
-He's good as a net player.
*CONS:
-He's slow.
-He's not very strong.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Waluigi bands his back backwards to do an upsidedown L. Waluigi then
spins crazy, wacks the ball, makes a curve ball and sends it as a
TOP SPIN. If the reciever hits it, he/she will spin like crazy,
making it hard to control your character.
Defensive: Waluigi runs to the side of the court where the ball is, then gives
himself a wet-willy,(suddenly, out of nowhere, a pool comes out.)
then swim to the ball. It is sent as a TOP SPIN. ALWAYS WORKS.
OVERALL: Waluigi would be one of the better players if it weren't for his
height(the ball might hit him easily), and his speed. More experienced
players can master Waluigi easily.

Yoshi is definetly one of the best characters in the game. Even though
he's the slowest speed character, his other stats are abouve avearge. He has
average strenght, reach lunge and good control over the ball. He also has an
impressive serve.Yoshi is great for begginers and sometimes experts.

*PROS:
-Yoshi is well rounded and very stable.
-He's fast.
-He has above average stats.
*CONS:
-He's the slowest speed character, which may sometimes screw you up.
-He is very average rated, making him abit useless in serious battles.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Yoshi jumps in the air with his flutter jump. This is a good thing
because it won't matter how high the ball is.The ball is struck with
a rainbow trailing it. It is sent as a TOP SPIN.If the reciever hits
the ball, they are slowed down by water.
Defensive: Yoshi transforms into an egg.The egg rolls towards the ball.Yoshi
pops out sending the ball as a TOP SPIN.Always returns.
***NOTE: If you beat the flower cup with any character in doubles,
Yoshi can change colors when using this move.
OVERALL: Yoshi is a great character, especially as a star character. His stats
are abpove average, making him an awsome solo character. He's one of
the best characters in the game, in my opnion.

# ***KOOPA TROOPA*** # ***SPEED*** #

When first saw him, I was like "How the heck would a turle be a Speed
character?!" Then I played him. It was so cool!Koopa Troopa is the fastest
speed character. He could use this as a great advantage. He also has and awsome
lunge,one of the best ones in the game! He has very poor reach,plus his serve
isn't very strong. This causes him to go a couple of notches.He's still pretty
good character and has good control over the ball.

Power: 7/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Koopa Troopa's Speed is unmatched.
-His lunge is excellent.
*CONS:
-He has poor reach.
-His serve isn't very good.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Koopa fills his racket with water and hits the ball as a DROP SHOT.
If the reciever hits the ball, the reciever then becomes slower.
One of the best power shots in the game.
Defensive: Koopa withdraws in his shell, slides through water and returns the
ball and a SLICE. Always returns.
OVERALLL: Koopa Troopa can play a mean game if you don't watch out. His
offensive power shot can cause a lot of problems if your not
cautious. His is an awsome player. His great lunge also makes up for
his poor reach.

Donkey Kong's power rating is higher than Wario, but tied with Bowser.
He is slow, making him unsuitable for 1 on 1 matches. He's very powerful and he
has good reach. His serve isn't half bad but his lunge is horrible.He's more of
a team player on the defensive position.

*PROS:
-Donkey Kong has outstanding strenght.
-He has great reach.
-His serve is very powerful.
-He's an awsome defense player due to his reach.
*CONS:
-He is very slow.
-He has a horrible lunge.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Donkey Kong slams the ground and a barrel cannon falls from heaven.
He jumps in a shoots himself to the ball.The ball goes really fast
and anyone who tries to return it gets knocked back far. It is a
super fast FLAT SHOT.
Defensive: Donkey Kong transforms his racket into a banana and throws it like a
boomerang to return the ball. It is sent back as a TOP SPIN and
always returns.
OVERALL: Donkey Kong is a OK character to begin with in 2 on 2 matches. He is
rather slow that brings him down but has the strenght, the control
and the reach to win matches.

Diddy Kong is between Yoshi and Koopa in speed. His strenght, reach,
and serve are average. He does have a lot of control over the ball and he has a
really good lunge. There really isn't any big downsides on Diddy. He's pretty
much the same as Yoshi. Diddy is mostly average rated.He's also great for
beggingers!

*PROS:
-Diddy Kong is really fast.
-He has a good lunge.
*CONS:
-He has a bad reach compared to his other stats.
-He is very average rated, making him abit useless in serious battles.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Diddy Kong tosses his racket in the air, does a few poses, catches
the racket with his tail. He then smashes the ball back with a huge
curve and as a SLICE. The reciever is then stunned for 2 seconds.
Defensive: Diddy Kong straps on a jet pack from nowhere and glide to the ball.
The ball is sent back as a TOP SPIN.Always works.
OVERALL: Diddy Kong is a very average rated character, which could be a good
thing or a bad thing. He's great for begginers but not taken seriously
by experts. Diddy is good for both team and solo matches.

Boo is the trickiest of the tricky. He's abit on the weakside, his
serve lasks streght but his lunge is excellent if timed right. Unfortunatley,
he has poor reach and he's abit slow. He has average control over the ball but
makes him more of an advanced character because of his other poor stats.
Experienced and expert players only!

*PROS:
-Boo is very tricky due to his incredible curve balls.
-He has an excellent lunge.
*CONS:
-He's abit weak.
-He has poor reach.
-His serve isn't powerful.
-He isn't very fast.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Boo gathers up other boos in his racket to make a mega-boo racket.
He then wacks the ball as a SLICE with a curve ball. The reciever is
the attacked by a horde of boos.
Defensive: Boo summons other boos to hit the ball for him. This might look abit
tricky.It's sent as a TOP SPIN.Always works.
OVERALL: Boo useless for begginers, since he's very unstable. But Boo seems to
shine in the hands of an expert.He's defintely lethal in the hands of
a pro.

Shy Guy is a very annoying character to face, especially in higher
levels. He has a great lunge and awsome control over the ball. He has moderate
power and reach but sadly he's slightly slow and he's serve is weak. Because of
this, he works better in teams. He's good for begginers who's trying double
matches.Excellent Technique rating as well.

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Shy Guy has great control over the ball.
-He has a good lunge.
*CONS:
-He's abit slow.
-He has a weak serve.
-His reach is kinda limited.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Shy Guy weras his Hawaiian Tiki clothes. He then spins his racket
around, (the racket has four points) electrifies it, then hits the
ball as a LOB. The reciever then gets shocked for 2 seconds.
Defensive: Shy Guy puts on his Hawaiian Tiki clothes. He turns toward the ball,
spins his four pointed racket and enlarges the lenght of the racket
to reach the ball. It always works and it sends it as a SLICE.
OVERALL: Shy Guy is great technique character with well rounded stats. Be aware
of his reach and speed, 'cause they may srew you up.

If you want a defense, power house character, Bowser's your man. Bowser
is a very strong character, with great reach and strong serve. He works better
in doubles since he has a bad lunge, and horrible speed. He's really worth
using in teams.

Serve: 8/10
Lunge: 5/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Bowser is very powerful.
-He has great reach.
-He has a strong serve.

-He is very slow.
-He has a horrible lunge.
-Compared to Donkey Kong, he has little control over the ball.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Bowser breathes fire on the ball and sends it as a FLAT SHOT on the
other side with great speed and power. If struck, the player will be
sent far back.
Defensive: Bowser goes back in his shell, spins toward the ball, then pops out
of the shell and hits the ball as a TOP SPIN.
Always works.
OVERALL: Due to his speed, Bowser is better of in teams. He does very well in
it, since he can both play a defensive and a offensive roles. He is
one of the best team players in the game. Too bad he's not good alone.

Bowser Jr. has the least curved on his shots. Other than that, he's
pretty much a mobile character. He's the fastest tricky character,has the most
reach out of all of the tricky,and has the strongest serve in the tricky
category.Fortunatley,he has average strength, making useful at some points. He
is a pretty straight forward character, not the best,but not the worst.

-Bowser Jr. is the easiest to control tricky character.
-He's very well rounded.
*CONS:
-He's very average rated, making him abit useless in serious matches.
-His curve balls doesn't curve alot.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Bowser Jr. transforms his racket into the Gadd Brush, paints the
tennis ball, then sends the ball back as a FLAT SHOT. The good thing
is that the ball goes fast and the ball is sent with 2 other fake
tennis balls.The reciever then gets slowed down by the paint.
***NOTE: The real tennis ball is always in between the 2 fake paint
balls.
Defensive: Bowser Jr. slides on his foot to the ball, transforms his racket
into the Gadd Brush, and spins his brush to smack the ball back as a
TOP SPIN. Always works.
OVERALL: Bowser Jr. is pretty much a well balanced character for players that
has grasped the game well. He is missing some key elements like more
reach and power, which may screw you up.

We've gone through all of the character that are already unlocked. The
next set of character need to be unlocked. I will go through how they can be
unlocked, their stats, Pros and Cons,their power shots, and an ovelall rating.
Too bad there is only 4 unlockable characters.

Fly Guy is seriously the hardest tricky character to control. He may
have average speed, but i believe he has the worst reach in the game. He has an
average tricky rating and average power but has the weakest serve in the tricky
category. He also has a very poor lunge but has good control over the ball.
Because of this he is better in teams and not very suitable for begginers.
UNLOCK: Beat the Mushroom cup, the Flower cup and the Star cup in singles.

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Fly Guy has good control over the ball.
-He has a good curve ball.
-He has abouve average speed.
*CONS:
-He has the worst reach in the game.
-His serve is relatively weak.
-He has a horrible lunge.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Fly Guy spins in his propeller upsidown. This creats a whrilwind.Fly
Guy then hits the ball as a TOP SPIN, sending the whirlwind with it.
Anyone who hits the ball gets spun around, making their character
harder to control. The ball also has a curve ball.
Defensive: Fly Guy spin around and develops a tornado. He controls to tornado
towards the ball and brings it back to Fly Guy.He hits the ball as a
TOP SPIN and with a curve ball. Always works.
OVERALL: Fly Guy is definetly a great character if used correctly. Don't be too
hasty about using his power shots, due to his lack of reach,your going
to need your defensive shot a lot more often.

Paratroopa is one of the best characters in the game. He has the best
lunge in the game, but with the most lag after the lunge. He's the fastest
non-speed character in the game.Plus being a technique character makes him a
very tough opponent.Too bad he has horrible reach and a weak serve. Other than
that, his power is okay and he has great control over the ball.
UNLOCK: Beat the Mushroom cup, the Flower cup and the Star cup in doubles.

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Paratroopa has the best lunge in the game.
-He is very fast.
-He has great control over the ball.
*CONS:
-He has poor reach.
-Not a strong serve.
-After his lunge, he is left wide open.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Paratroopa moves backward and rushes forward (similar to his lunge)
to power up the ball in a purple glow and sends the ball as a LOB.
Anyone who returns it will spin silly, making their character hard
to control.
Defensive: Paratroopa flies high in the air, then dives toward the ball to hit
it over the net as a SLICE. Always works.
OVERALL: Paratroopa is very good for all players at any stage.His reach may not
be the best but his lunge covers that for him. He's definetly worth
mastering.

Wiggler is the best defense player in the game. He has the best reach
out of all the characetrs, making him the perfect net player, though his height
goes against him. He has average power and serve but sadly, his lunge is not
good and his speed is just as bad. Having moderate control over the ball,
making him worth unlocking.
UNLOCK: Beat the Fire cup and Thunder cup in singles.

Power: 7/10
Speed: 5/10
Reach: 10/10
Serve: 7/10
Lunge: 6/10
Control: 7/10
PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Wiggler has excellent reach.
-He makes a great defense player.
-He has good control over the ball.
*CONS:
-He is slow.
-His lunge in not that good.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Wiggler turns toward the ball. Then he gets really angry and turns
red. He spins around and hita the ball as a TOP SPIN and gives a
curve ball. Anyone who returns it will spin silly, making their
character hard to control.
Defensive: Wiggler transforms into a butterfly and flies to the ball to return
it.It sends it as a TOP SPIN and always works.
OVERALL: Due to Wiggler's speed, he's better of on a team, since he does better
in defense position if someone is behind him.He's great for begginers
and experts and far better than the other defense player, Waluigi.

Petey Piranha is the strongest power character in the game. In fact,
he's so strong, when he uses a charged slice/top spin, the players gets knocked
back a little. He also has great reach and a strong serve. Too bad he's the
slowest player and his lunge is not that good. But still, he's still a good
player, but because of his speed issues, he's better for experts and double
matches.
UNLOCK: Beat the Fire cup and Thunder cup in doubles.

Speed: 3/10
Reach: 9/10
Serve: 8/10
Lunge: 5/10

PROS & CONS:
*PROS:
-Petey Piranha is immensely powerful.
-He has great reach.
-He has a strong serve.
-He makes a great defensive player.
*CONS:
-He is the slowest character in the game.
-He has a horrible lunge.
-He head is too big, making it an easy target.
-His defensive power shot doesn't return when the ball is too high.
POWER SHOTS:
Offensive: Petey Piranha swallows the racket. He then he spits it out filled
with sludge. He smack the ball to the other side filled with sludge
as a FLAT SHOT.If the reciever hits the ball, the reciever then
becomes slower.
Defensive: Petey Piranha barfs out a piranha plant and the plant hits the ball
as a DROP SHOT. It doesn't return if the ball is too high.
OVERALL: Petey Piranha is a great character for a team. I recommened him for
experts though, because of his speed and lunge.If begginers use him,
they might think that they are really bad at this game.
