------------------------------

2.	INTRODUCTION

Please note that this Tactics Guide does not recap the game story.
It is a support tool, and the methods outlined here are simply designed
to maximise players' chances of survival and their enjoyment of the game.

It has also been written to compensate for the missing and
erroneous information in the "Guide" by prince_khorne.

------------------------------

3.	GENERAL TACTICS

Controls
--------

-	Learn the core button features quickly:

	X		= DIRECT ATTACK

	R1 + CIRCLE	= RAGE

	L2		= BLOCK

	TRIANGLE	= JUMP

	L2 + TRIANGLE	= ROLL

SQUARE = FATALITY over fallen foe

	SQUARE		= USE OBJECT

SQUARE = TARGET an object with Bow. Note that repeated
			  use will target different objects.

	RIGHT/LEFT = SHUFFLE through arsenal

Combat
------

-	When blocking try and have the Spartan's back to a wall as
he can still be struck from behind.

-	Remember that use of RADIAL SHIELD BASH will build Rage.

-	The use of Rage will nullify any attacks that foes are
	making at that moment.

-	Rage should only be used when at least 3 + enemies are within
range, and preferably against stronger foes.

-	Remember to use ROLL as it is an invaluable technique. Rolling
can by pass a Block and be used just as a foe attacks.

-	RARAR:	Roll-Attack-Roll-Attack-Rage.

A technique is most effective when the Blades of Athena are
equipped. By quickly repeating it is possible to kill large
	groups.

-	AVOID use the JUMP + ATTACK option on stronger foes as it leaves
the Spartan exposed for several seconds.

-	DON'T pick up arrows if already possessing 30. The Spartan's
arsenal cannot exceed this number. Use them all, then pick up
	another quiver.

-	Fire Arrows are needed to detonate out-of-reach explosives.

-	The appearance of a Red arrow on screen means an enemy is
targeting the Spartan with either an arrow or thrown missile.

-	Bombs and explosives are fatal if too close. Light/detonate
	and RUN.

-	Gigantes:

Be ready to block/roll when a Gigantes picks up an ally as they
WILL throw them at the Spartan.

Contrary to prince_khorne's "Guide", exploding Gigantes DO NOT harm
	the Spartan.

-	The three levels of game difficulty (Recruit, Soldier, Veteran) pertain
to how much damage the Spartan inflicts on foes (Large, Moderate, Small)

Special Weapons & Attacks
-------------------------

-	REMEMBER to continue to block even AFTER using the Gorgon's
Shield as it takes several seconds for all foes to be stoned.

-	AVOID using Deathbiter for anything other than a Powered attack.
The weapon is slow in combat and leaves the Spartan open to
	attack.

-	The Spear of Achilles does NOT render the Spartan impervious
to all harm. Arrows and explosions will STILL cause damage.

-	Best offensives:

GORGON'S SHIELD + BLADES OF ATHENA.

Enable the Spartan to strike quickly against multiple stoned foes.
DO NOT use Rage until the remaining foes shake off the effect.

	POWERED BOW ATTACK.

Very powerful and allows for a good follow up attack.

Movement & Surroundings
-----------------------

-	Avoid jumping from heights as the Spartan can be injured.

-	DON'T fight on ramps and bridges as it is too easy to be
	knocked off

-	Smashing crates can occasionally yield power-ups.

-	Foes killed near walls may result in a loss of pick-ups

-	The Spartan can still be attacked while praying at a Health or
Power Shrine. Try and clear all foes before praying, or be ready
	to block immediately if necessary.

-	Levers can be used just as a foe attacks and it will cancel their attack.

------------------------------

4.	CHAPTERS

ACT I, Chapter I: The Storm Breaks
                  ----------------

Objective:	Kill all 3 Centurions
---------

The Spartan begins with 30 normal arrows. Wait until the first Centurion
jumps to ground level and target (highlighted in green). Move around the
Centurion to combat his shield if necessary. Avoid getting too close as
Legionnaries may target the Spartan.

Pick up the first set of Fire Arrows on the ramp to the left (but not the
second) ONCE the second Centurion appears. Once targeted pepper with arrows
until dead.

Repeat with the third Centurion, waiting until visible BEFORE collecting
the Fire Arrows.

Collect the regular arrows from the chest against the wall and use the Health
Shrine before leaving if necessary.

Objective:	Protect the Sappers
---------

RADIAL SHIELD BASH is the best tactic. Use it BEFORE the Romans reach the
Sapper. If only 1-2 Romans are nearby, sword strikes are faster.

Remember to run once the Bombs are lit as the explosions can be fatal.

After the third Tower is destroyed, use the Health Shrine if needed - there is
no rush. Collect the Bonus Item on the way to the next area.

Objective:	Kill All Romans
---------

Collect the Bonus Items FIRST - ignore arrows for now.

Attack as many Romans as is possible from behind and RADIAL SHIELD BASH the
Centurions whenever possible.

Objective:	Protect King Leonidas & Protect the Gates
---------

Quickly clear the Romans near Leonidas.

Open the Gate for reinforcements.

Collect the Fire Arrows and return to the Gates and pepper all Romans, followed
by use of RADIAL SHIELD BASH along the Gates if needed.

Once cleared, collect another quiver of arrows and pepper the arriving Romans.

Check Leonidas' Health Bar and assist if needed.

Kill Legionnaires on the field in groups of 1-3 to build Rage and keep using it
on the groups massing at the Gates. Ensure that Centurions are in range.

Open the Gate for reinforcements.

Objective:	Protect the Cauldron & Defeat Talos
---------

Collect the Bonus Item FIRST.

Move to Health Shrine and heal if necessary.

Defend the Cauldron and use at least three times.

Once receiving the prompt, use the Catapults immediately.

------------------------------

ACT I, Chapter 2: A Spartan Welcome
                  -----------------

FIRST UPGRADE:	6 Tokens - Damage (needed later for fast kills)

Block to avoid the Ballista and shuffle behind the obstacles to the
trench. Only the stop blocking. Quickly kill the Romans and move to
the other trench to collect the Fire Arrows. Remember to block once
more when above ground.

Move to Castor's location and use the Fire Arrows.

Move inside and kill the Romans. Ignore the Chest as it only contains
more Arrows.

Light the fuse to begin a cut scene.

Objective:	Kill All Romans
---------

Avoid the flames as they are damaging.

Quickly run up the ramp to the Spartan's right and kill the Archers.
Block and shuffle down and kill the remaining Archers, watching for the
Alarm Ringer.

Position the Spartan at the base of the stairs on the left.

Use RADIAL SHIELD BASH on the remaining Archers and the Alarm Ringer
if respawning.

Objective:	Contaminate the Water Supply & Destroy Artillery
---------

There is no rush - join Castor AFTER the first contamination.

Lead Castor up the tower and then leave him there.

Return the entry point and collect a quiver of arrows, normal or the Fire
variety. Return to the enclosed area where the ladder is and pepper the
Romans training. Stay by the gate so that the two Archers cannot target the
Spartan but not so near that the Romans can attack. They will not enter the
enclosed area en masse - only 1-2 will at any time.

Return and collect more quivers when needed and repeat.

Once all quivers have been used, run through and quickly kill the Archers,
then move to the ramp on the far side of the training area collect more
quivers. Return to the top of the ramp and pepper the Romans until all dead.

Destroy the Artillery and collect all Bonus Items.

Join Castor and continue.

NOTE!	From this point on, there will be several Shrines located through
the camp, some of which are located on the other side of a fence.
These Shrines CAN be used by the Spartan if moving close enough.

Objective:	Kill All Romans
---------

Remain at the corner of entry points and attack as Romans pass through.
When numbers increase, use RADIAL SHIELD BASH and then run back to a corner
and repeat.

Before following Castor collect all Bonus Items; destroy Artillery and use
the Health Shrine to heal if necessary.

Block until reaching Ballista. Clear the Romans and then use. Try and kill the
Romans as they appear from the tent. As the Ballista recharges try and save the
bursts to kill groups. If any Romans reach the Ballista, climb off and clear
them.

Collect the Bonus Item BEFORE following Castor, then move to the rear of the
next area and pepper Romans with arrows. If the auto-aim will focus on the
explosive barrel, target it. Once all arrows are expended, move to a corner and
use RADIAL SHIELD BASH as Romans appear, followed by Rage. Target Archers first.

Collect the Blades of Athena - be sure to heal and recharge the Power of the
Gods (POTG) BEFORE the last Roman is killed as the next Objective has a tight
time limit.

Objective:	Protect the Prisoners
---------

Quickly move to the cage and kill all Romans using the RARAR technique,
but DO NOT use arrows or POTG.

Once all the Romans are dead, use Shrines if necessary. ONLY follow Castor and
open the gate when ready.

Objective:	Escort the Prisoners to safety
---------

Run AHEAD of the party, and use the first Heal shrine if necessary. The goal
is to keep running ahead and to kill Romans BEFORE they encounter the
prisoners.

First Wave:	POTG + RARAR technique

Second Wave:	Arrows

Third Wave:	Arrows (if they can be collected from a chest) +
		RARAR technique

Fourth Wave:	RARAR technique

NOTE! A Power Shrine is located en route and may be possible to charge
the Power Tank before the Romans reach the Spartan

Fifth Wave:	RARAR technique

Once ALL the Romans have been killed, leave the party and backtrack.
Use Health + Power Shrines; contaminate water supplies; destroy the last of
the artillery and collect arrows if needed. THEN rejoin Castor.

Objective:	Protect the Prisoners & hold off the Romans
---------

Man the first Ballista, but DO NOT use it until there is a large mass of
Romans. Detonate the bomb nearby once the ammunition is depleted.

To save on Ballista ammunition, fight the next wave of Romans on foot. Use
POTG then RADIAL SHIELD BASH to kill another wave. Between waves retreat to the
2nd Ballista.

Once across the bridge at the 2nd Ballista, target the explosives on the far
side of the bridge. Once out of ammunition, run to the Power shrine and build
POTG.

Man the third Ballista, but DO NOT fire until a large mass of Romans are on
the crest of the bridge.

Once out of ammunition, fight at the bottom of the bridge and use RADIAL
SHIELD BASH as much as is possible. Save POTG until another large mass of
Romans appear.

Once Romans start slipping through the line, move to the prisoners and use the
Blades of Athena to kill the Romans as they approach. By this stage the
countdown should only be seconds away from finishing.

------------------------------

ACT I, Chapter 3: The Last Stand
                  --------------

SECOND UPGRADE:	6 Tokens - Health

Objective:	Destroy the Ballista
---------

NOTE!	Use an arrow to detonate the Arrow-Targeted Explosive to the right
	FIRST.

Equip the Blades of Athena and keeping to the wall below the Archers use the
RARAR technique. Collect the Bonus Item from the chest in the alcove and run up
the stairs to the Archers' location.

Block, kill and block and then return to the starting point to kill any Archers
that fell off the ledge.

Race to the first platform and use POTG to kill the Archers. Try and kick all
the Romans off the ledge and use RARAR on any remaining foes. Before any more
Romans spawn from the door on the platform, man the Ballista and kill the two
Archers above the door.

Quickly light the explosive and jump clear. Kill the next wave of Romans and
use the Health Shrine at the top of the stairs in necessary.

Use the RARAR technique once again to kill the final wave and then light the
explosive. Move through to the next area and smash all crates to reveal another
explosive. Light and retreat down the stairs.

Objective:	Fight off the Romans and Kill the Centurions
---------

NOTE!	WATCH for the Gorgon Beam and run out of it's radius if striking nearby.

Equip the Blades of Athena and constantly use the RARAR technique.

Try and stay near the ledge where the Romans spawn to be able to quickly attack
the Centurions once they appear.

Use ROTG when needed and smash stoned foes to collect Power pick-ups to
recharge the Power Tank.

Before leaving the area collect the Bonus Items from the chests and use the
Shrines if necessary.

Objective:	Destroy the Archer Towers and Kill All Romans
---------

Run to the crates and use POTG to clear the Romans. Smash the crates and light
the Explosive.

A good tactic for clearing Romans in this area is to SHIELD BASH or kick them
off the edge of the platform.

Clear the Romans and use the Shrines in the area before leaving.

Move to the 2nd Explosive, which can be targeted immediately. Once again clear
the Romans and use the Shrines in the area before leaving.

Quickly move to the 3rd Explosive via the platforms, and watch for the Gorgon
Beam as at one point it will strike the second platform.

Light the Explosive and collect the Bonus Item before killing all Romans.

Objective:	Open the Gate
---------

Draw the Romans on the first platform down the stairs away from the Archers
and kill in small groups.

After climbing the ladder, immediately climb BACK DOWN. The Centurions will
follow and make easy targets as they descend the ladder.

NOTE!	DO NOT draw the Centurions onto the walkway as it is too easy to fall
	or be pushed off.

Climb back up again and quickly kill the two Archers to the left.

Block, shuffle to the right and SHIELD BASH or kick the last two Archers off
the edge.

After opening the gate return and use the Shrines in the area below before
leaving.

Objective:	Kill All Romans
---------

NOTE!	It is possible if moving quickly to see the Romans hiding behind the
nearest corner before springing the ambush. The Spartan can target and
kill several of the Romans as they emerge.

NOTE!	As soon as the last Roman is killed, this level will end and a cut
scene will commence that leads to a Boss fight. Be sure to use the
Shrines BEFORE Romans are all killed.

Collect a quiver of arrows and target the Archers between the columns. Use the
RARAR technique on the remaining Romans.

Objective:	Kill Crassus
---------

NOTE!	DO NOT use Sword + Shield for this fight as they are too slow.

NOTE!	Arrows DO NOT effect Crassus.

BLOCK IMMEDIATELY and force Crassus back onto the platform where Medusa is -
the machine will siphon off his special attack and the Spartan will be
unharmed.

Equip the Blades of Athena and use the RARAR technique bombard Crassus and the
4-5 Romans present. Be sure to kill the Centurion - otherwise he will follow
the Spartan.

Once Crassus runs use the radar to pinpoint his location.

Ensure that Health is high on approach as Crassus will usually hit the Spartan
at least once with the Stone Slash. Any nearby Romans will also attack.

Kill Romans on the approach to Crassus to build Rage, but DO NOT use Rage if
Crassus' Power Tank is charged as his Stone Slash will neutralise it.

Save ROTG until several Romans have joined Crassus for maximum effect.

Crassus does not defend when a Gorgon Beam strikes, so it is possible to
quickly attack at least twice and still escape the Beam.

NOTE!	Retreat to a Health Shrine when needed, but DO NOT cross over the
grille surrounding Medusa when the weapon powers up as it is damaging.

------------------------------

ACT 2, Chapter 1: The Badlands
                  ------------

THIRD UPGRADE:	2 Tokens - Damage; 4 Tokens - Health (for a maximum of 10)

Objective:	Kill the Barbarians
---------

Use the Gorgon Shield to stone all foes and shatter the strongest first.
These are the Barbarians with two-handed swords and axes.

Equip the Blades of Athena and move to the cave mouths and attack the
Barbarians as they jump down. Use the RARAR technique where needed.

Once all foes are dead, use the Shrines if necessary and collect a quiver
BEFORE joining Castor etc.

Objective:	Knock over all braziers
---------

The braziers will appear around the tent directly ahead. This should be the
priority as foes will continue to respawn. SAVE POTG.

Once the third brazier is knocked over, QUICKLY move towards the entry gate
to avoid being engulfed in the flames.

Collect Bonus Items; use the Shrine if necessary and finally collect the
Fire Arrows.

Objective:	Blow Up the Caves
---------

Use the Fire Arrows to help clear a path to the cave. Run past all foes.

Run up the ramp and light the fuse, then run back down and after the cut
scene use the Gorgon's Shield. Shatter as many foes as is possible to build
Rage.

Enter the new area, equip the Blades of Athena and use the RARAR technique.
Collect the Bonus Item and tip over the Brazier and then run for the next
cave. The Barbarians exiting the cave will attack but as they are weaker can
be killed quite easily. Light the fuse and run back down. Kill the last few
Barbarians in the previous area.

Take the new path and SHIELD BASH the Barbarians off the ledge.

At the mouth of the final cave use the Gorgon's Shield to stone foes and then
run to the cave to light the fuse. Run back to trigger a cut scene.

Objective:	Lower the Bridge
---------

Collect the Bonus Item and use the Health Shrine if necessary. Collect the
Fire Arrows and quickly detonate the explosive to bring the pillar down.

Run forward and use the Fire Arrows on the Barbarians. Equip the Blades of
Athena and use the RARAR technique.

Use the Shrines if necessary, then jump down and immediately move to the
right to pull the lever and lower the platform.

Run past all Barbarians to the top of the ramp and veer left, avoiding the
sudden drop at the end of the ramp. Light the fuse and then run back,
killing all Barbarians. Use the Shrines on the isolated platform if
necessary.

Run to the entry to the isolated platform and use the Gorgon's Shield. Run
over and shatter the three Berserkers and open all Chests.

NOTE!	DO NOT engage in fighting on or near the isolated platfrom as it is
very easy to get knocked off the side.

Objective:	Burn the Tents and clear the Village
---------

Ignore the Barbarians initially and burn the tents. Equip the Blades of
Athena and use the RARAR technique. Use the Health Shrine on the other side
of the bridge if necessary.

Objective:	Pull the Lever
---------

Defeating the Gigantes:

-	As the Gigantes charges IMMEDIATELY move to the left and lead the
Gigantes into the fallen pillar. It will temporarily stun the
Gigantes. Equip the Sword and Shield and attack, followed by Rage.

-	Use the Gorgon's Shield and once the Gigantes is stoned attack,
	followed by Rage.

-	Keep some distance and finish the Gigantes with arrows.

Pull the lever and then run to the Power Shrine (if needed). Fight off the
Barbarians and charge POTG. The goal is to use the Gorgon's Shield and then
shatter as many of the stronger Barbarians as is possible.

Use the Shrines if necessary and then collect the timed Fire Arrows. Run up
and pepper the Barbarians on the bridge. Equip the Blades of Athena and use
the RARAR technique as moving toward the Chests. Be prepared to run away from
the exploding Chest. Use the Health Shrine if needed.

SHIELD BASH any pursuing Barbarians off the bridge and run back and free the
Prisoners. Then IMMEDIATELY run up the ramp to kill any pursuing Barbarians.
The Gorgon's Shield is preferable here as it will stop all Barbarians getting
close to the villagers.

If still available use the Shrines and kill the remaining Barbarians. If there
are any left on the bridge use SHIELD BASH to push them off.

------------------------------

ACT 2, Chapter 2: The Wild Bunch
                  --------------

FOURTH UPGRADE:	4 Tokens - Power; 2 Tokens - Damage (for a maximum of 10)

NOTE!	The Health Shrines in the Village must be used sparingly as it is
vital to be at full health when fighting Beowulf.

Objective:	Face Beowulf
---------

BEFORE facing Beowulf, collect the Bonus Items and then locate all Shrines for
later use.

Use the Gorgon's Shield and stone the Berserkers, then block until they are
all stoned and shatter as many as possible. Equip the Blades of Athena and
use the RARAR technique on the remainder.

NOTE!	An experienced gamer can use the RARAR technique on the entire group
and save the Power Tank for the upcoming battle.

Objective:	Protect the Grain Silos
---------

Run back to the Village and turn to the RIGHT and use the Power Shrine in the
corner. Then collect a quiver of Fire Arrows.

The Barbarians will ALWAYS target the Eastern silo first. Use all Fire Arrows
and then equip the Blades of Athena and use the RARAR technique. Once the
Barbarians appear in numbers use the Gorgon's Shield. Shatter the strongest
Barbarians first, and follow up with Rage. Ring the Bell for aid, then run
to the Western silo.

Collect another quiver of Fire Arrows and pepper the group in front of the
Western silo. Run to a Power Shrine and use. Equip the Gorgon's Shield and use.
Shatter those Barbarians grouped by the silo and follow up with Rage. Equip the
Blades of Athena and use the RARAR technique on approaching Barbarians.

Ring the Bell for aid, then run back to the Eastern silo and clear the last
of the Barbarians.

The arrival of the Gigantes means the attacks on the silos will cease. Equip
the Blades of Athena and target the two Barbarian groups in the southern end of
the village.

Try and lead the Gigantes into objects that will temporarily stun them, and
use standard attacks and then Rage. If a Power tank is charged use the Gorgon's
Shield and try to shatter a Gigantes. Collect Fire Arrows and pepper until
dead. If needing to attack physically do so while the Gigantes are occupied
with other Spartans.

Objective:	Protect the Villagers
---------

Attack the Barbarians from behind when possible for easy kills.
Use the Shrines before leaving the area.

Objective:	Kill Beowulf
---------

Try and keep the fight in the middle of the field to avoid the flames and to
be able to see the Berserkers.

SAVE ROTG until two Berserkers join the fight.

ROLL as Beowulf attacks and strike from behind twice. ROLL again and wait for
the next attack and repeat.

NOTE!	After being hit the second time Beowulf will use a Radial attack.
Deathbiter will glow and he will strike the ground. Be ready to jump
and then ROLL to attack from behind again.

Once a Berserker joins the battle, Roll and strike to kill the Berserker for
a strong Health pick-up.

Watch for when Beowulf runs for the brazier and try and attack him from behind.

Use the Gorgon's Shield only when necessary. If high on Health, use ROTG when
two Berserkers join Beowulf or when Beowulf tries to run to the brazier. If low
on Health, use ROTG and use the Shrines.

Constant use of ROLL followed by a counter strike and Rage will eventually
kill Beowulf.

Objective:	Kill All Remaining Barbarians
---------

NOTE!	Be sure to collect the Bonus Item BEFORE killing all the Barbarians as
this will trigger a cut scene ending the mission.

Block and move to a Health Shrine. Then use RADIAL SHIELD BASH followed by
Rage.

Use the Power Shrine or build ROTG in combat and then use Death Biter for a
POWERED RADIAL ATTACK. Collect Fire Arrows from the Chests and pepper the
remaining Barbarians.

------------------------------

ACT 2, Chapter 3: The Ruin of Heroes
                  ------------------

FIFTH UPGRADE:	6 Tokens - Power (for a maximum of 10)

Objective:	Retrieve the Spear of Achilles
---------

Collect the Bonus Item and jump the bridge.

Move to the doors to alert the Romans and using the Sword quickly kill the
first 5-6 to build Rage. Use Rage to clear the first wave, then retreat back
outside the doors to the end corner on the right. As the Romans approach
constantly use SHIELD BASH to push them over the edge of the platform. Be sure
to deal with the Centurions and the Praetorian Carnifex in this fashion. Kill
the remaining Legionnaires.

Move through to the area with the Shrines and Chest containing the Bonus Item.
Equip Death Biter and move down and draw the Romans to the top of the ramp.
They will only follow in small groups. Try and stay out of range of blows while
still killing Legionnaires to build Rage. Then run and use it against the
larger group. Retreat and repeat this tactic.

NOTE!	Any Romans drawn into the round antechamber at the top of the ramp will
instantly die as according to the game they are "out of area."

Use Shrines, light the fuse on the explosive and cross the pillar. Collect the
Bonus Item and move into the Furnace Room. Equip Death Biter, move into a
corner and when not blocking strike to build Rage. Use Rage to clear the Romans.

After hitting each set of locks with arrows, equip Sword + Gorgon Shield and
SHIELD BASH all the Romans off the edge of the platform.

NOTE!	If wishing to use the Health Shrine in the corner do so BEFORE killing
the last Roman as it will trigger a cut scene that places the Spartan
	outside the Furnace Room.

Quickly move over the pillar before the Archers have time to fire. Equip Death
Biter and use ROTG to kill most of the Romans. Any survivors can killed
normally or use SHIELD BASH to push them over the edge of the platform.

NOTE!	Be sure to use the Shrines so as to be at full power for the next
	chamber.

NOTE!	In the next chamber there are three waves of Undead. DO NOT
underestimate their reach as they can suddenly lurch forward and
strike. Always block when close to them, and NEVER attack with
conventional strikes if there are more than 2 Undead within reach.
Where possible Undead must be "killed" and then smashed WITHOUT the
Spartan being hit. While it may be tempting to use Death Biter, a
ROTG attack is too risky as it requires the Spartan to be in the
	middle of the group.

Back into a corner and use the Fire Arrows in the chest to kill as many Undead
as is possible. Use the Gorgon's Shield to stone the Undead, then shatter them
and build Rage to destroy more. This should elimimate the first wave. Be sure
to collect the Power pick-ups to rebuild ROTG. SHIELD BASH Undead to isolate
them and kill them, and build Rage. Attack with Rage to kill more and destroy
WITHOUT getting hit. Recharge at the Shrines when possible, and again use the
Gorgon's Shield and repeat the same tactics.

Use the Shrines and then while blocking move up to the landing and quickly
light the fuse on the explosive. QUICKLY move away.
Ignore the Skeletons inside the Trojan Horse as they will attack the Romans.
Kill all Romans on the landing then collect the Fire Arrows from the Chest
against the wall.
Pepper the foes below and then collect the second set from the white Chest and
repeat. SHIELD BASH any survivors over the edge of the platform.

NOTE!	Save one ROTG for the next chamber.

Run around the corner and move down the wall on the far side. Use the Gorgon's
Shield. Now PAST the Romans to the end of the corridor, where several stoned
Assassins will be standing (always recognisable by their dual long swords).
Quickly shatter them and then use RADIAL SHIELD BASH on the other Romans and
build Rage. Use Rage and move back to the edge of the platform and SHIELD BASH
the remainder off the side. Use the Shrines BEFORE crossing the walkway
(via Fire Arrows). Collect the Bonus Item on the other side.

DO NOT rush into the next chamber. Edge in towards the left and try and draw
the Skeletons back to the entry point in groups of 1-2 for easy kills. Once
their numbers have been reduced, equip Athena's Blades and while blocking
awaken the remaining Skeletons. Move the group AWAY from the emerging Undead
and use ROTG. Kill the remaining Skeletons.

Now draw the Undead to one side of the coffins and then quickly run to the
other side to strike the coffins. Hack and then smash any stray Undead as they
attempt to follow. Continue to block and feint to draw the Undead away from the
coffins.

DO NOT use the Naptha as the Undead do not yield power-ups when killed in this
fashion.

NOTE!	DO NOT use ROTG in this area and collect ALL dropped power-ups as both
tanks will be needed in the next area.

Collect the Bonus Item and use the Shrine. Enter the area and run, and then
try to draw as many Assassins together as is possible. Then use the Gorgon's
Shield and stone and shatter as many as possible with Rage. Once the rest of
the group recover use the Gorgon's Shield once more and target any remaining
Assassins, then the Praetorian Carnifexes.

Then run around the edges of the room and use RADIAL SHIELD BASH as the group
come around a corner. Run and repeat until Rage is charged and use. Repeat.
Collect the Bonus Item, use the Shrine and enter the next area.

Objective:	Kill Your Nemesis
---------

RUN in a wide arc around Achilles' Tomb so as to be able to see and avoid the
Nemesis.

NOTE!	DO NOT ATTACK! Use the Gorgon's Shield to stop the Nemesis from
reaching a pick-up before the Spartan, and repeat until the Spartan
is at full Health with both Power tanks full.

Then use the Gorgon's Shield and stone the Nemesis, followed by several blows
and Rage. Once the Nemesis recovers RETREAT IMMEDIATELY. Use the Gorgon's
Shield once again to stop the Nemesis reaching pick-ups and recharge before
attacking again.

When the Nemesis uses the Spear of Achilles' ROTG attack, RUN until the
Nemesis stop flaming.

------------------------------

ACT 2, Chapter 4: The Ghosts of Troy
		  ------------------

SIXTH UPGRADE:	5 Tokens - Health

Objective:	Clear the room for your Sappers
---------

As the Skeletons respawn, the simplest method is to equip the Spear of
Achilles use ROTG. While invulnerable light as many fuses as is possible,
but keep moving as the Spartan is NOT impervious to explosions.

Objective:	Find your way out
---------

In the next area move down the sides of the room and while constantly blocking
to avoid the Skeleton Archers' arrows and collect Fire Arrows from a Chest.
Move over to the platforms and detonate the explosives. Open all Chests to find
the Key and use Shrines if necessary. Try and save at least one Chest as the
Spartan will return to this room. It is possible to kill the Undead in the room
to build Power, but note that they will respawn. Collect the Bonus Item before
moving to the next area.

Use the Power Shrine to the right if needed and run to the far platform.
SHIELD BASH all the Skeletons off the edge. Time the Skeleton Archers' volleys
and use between attacks use the Health Shrine and collect the Fire Arrows. Use
the arrows to destroy the explosive to the left.

NOTE!	DO NOT target Sejanus as he will be unhurt and retaliate with a burst
	of fire.

Collect more Fire Arrows if necessary and target the explosives along the
walls to eliminate the Undead Archers. SHIELD BASH the group of waiting
Skeletons off the edge of the platform.

Move to the next platform and SHIELD BASH all the Skeleton Archers off the
edge. Ignore the Undead warriors and move carefully over the bridge and again
SHIELD BASH the Skeleton Archers over the edge. Backtrack over the bridge and
use the Gorgon's Shield to stone the Undead warriors. Shatter them then
continue on, using SHIELD BASH once again if there are any Skeleton Archers
remaining.

In the next chamber use the Shrine; collect the Bonus Item and rejoin Castor.

NOTE!	The jumps in this room are small but must be completed from the
	shortest gaps.

Objective:	Protect the Spartans
---------

Equip Athena's Blades and use ROTG once surrounded by the Skeletons. Kill any
remaining. Collect the Fire Arrows from the wooden Chest and the Bonus Item.

Objective:	Stay with the Spartans
---------

Collect the Invisibility Potion from the stone Chest and RUN through to the
area and target the Assassins. Once the Potion wears off use the Gorgon's
Shield and stone and shatter the other Romans. Then kill any foes remaining.

Objective:	Find the next Chamber
---------

In the next chamber target the lock mechanisms, then SHIELD BASH the Skeletons
off the bridge. Pull the lever, use the Shrine if necessary and repeat. Equip
the Blades of Athena and use ROTG on the last group of Skeletons, then kill
any remaining foes. Unfortunately all the Spartan warriors will be killed while
the Spartan completes these tasks.

Objective:	Get your allies out of Troy + Locate the Spartans in Trouble
---------

In the next chamber collect the Bonus Item to the right first and then kill
all Skeletons pursuing the Spartan's allies.

Objective:	Overcome Sejanus' Hordes
---------

NOTE!	DO NOT use ROTG in this room as it WILL be needed in the next area.

If there are any Chests remaining collect a set of Fire Arrows and detonate
the explosives on the platform to kill the Undead Archers, but DO NOT target
Sejanus. SHIELD BASH both Romans and Undead into the giant pits and attack
form behind to build Rage. Collect as many Power pick-ups as possible if
needing to charge ROTG.

Objective:	Overcome the Praetorians
---------

Use the Gorgon's Shield to stone the group and then shatter as many Assassins
as possible FIRST. DO NOT attack the stoned Praetorians as even with a Rage
attack they will only come out of the stone state and attack.

Follow this attack with the Spear of Achilles and a ROTG attack, followed by as
many Rage attacks as possible.

Run to the stairs and use the Power Shrine to charge up again, and repeat with
the Spear of Achilles.

Draw foes up and down the stairs, and then run to the side of the landing as
they come down and RADIAL SHIELD BASH.

Kill any remaining foes attacking allies by striking from behind.

------------------------------

ACT 2, Chapter 5: The Sentinel
		  ------------

SEVENTH UPGRADE: 5 Tokens - Health (for a maximum of 10)

Objective:	Kill the Hydra
---------

Stand BETWEEN the pillars to try and save the cover for as long as possible.

DO NOT use the exposed Fire Arrows until after the Master Head has appeared.

WATCH the Heads directly in front of the Spartan closely. Once a Head begins
to rattle it's mandibles, it is about to attack. Immediately move to the side
so as to not be in range once the Head lunges and then counter attack with a
a Powered single attack to destroy the Head. Collect the power-ups and quickly
collect the Fire Arrows from the Chest. Auto-aim and use the Fire Arrows to
destroy the damaged neck of the Hydra.

Repeat once more, using the respawning Fire Arrows in the Chest. Once both
Power tanks have been used, repeatedly bash the striking Heads as they will
drop Power pick-ups. Once BOTH Power tanks are full again, repeat the process.

Once a fourth Head has been destroyed, the other Heads will retreat and the
Master Head will appear. The Master Head will initially attack by breathing
fire along the bridge the Spartan is standing on.

NOTE!	Ignore the advice given by prince_khorne as the pillars (if still
intact) DO NOT provide protection from the flames. The correct form
of defence is to use ROTG, as the Spartan is impervious to the Hydra's
breath attack when in flaming form.

NOTE!	While in flaming form, the Spartan CANNOT use Fire Arrows. If a Head
strikes the Spartan in flaming form, however, it will be destroyed.
If timed correctly, it is possible to draw in and destroy a Head, then
destroy the damaged neck with Fire Arrows.

Once the other Heads return, they will attack in pairs. Watch the
Heads and try and move into the gaps between the Heads as they strike.
Continue to bash the Heads to recharge BOTH Power tanks.

NOTE!	Once recharged, only use ONE Power tank for Powered attacks as the
second must ALWAYS be saved for ROTG when the Master Head breathes
fire. Once both are expended repeat the process, using one Power Tank
for offence and the other for defence.

Once the Hydra is low on health, begin using the Fire Arrows floating between
the pillars for faster kills. If still using the Chest, WATCH to see if a
Head is about to strike BEFORE moving to access it.

Eventually the other Heads will retreat and the Master Head will move in for
physical attacks. Like the other Heads, the Master Head will shake it's
mandibles before striking. It can be bashed for Power pick-ups.
Use a Powered attack to destroy the Master Head followed by Fire Arrows to
destroy the neck to finally kill the Hydra.

ACT 2, Chapter 6: Resistance
		  ----------

EIGHTH UPGRADE: 5 Tokens - Damage

Objective:	Protect Archimedes from Archers and Assassins
---------

Athens Civic Square
-------------------

Legend:

1st - 8th =	Order of appearance

A 		=	Archer

ASS 		=	Assassin

A + B =	Archer + 2 Bodyguards (Heavy Legionnares)

		7th: A 6th: A + B

					ARCHIMEDES

2nd: A + B

			   3rd: ASS 5th: ASS (x2)
								   4th: A + B

				    ATHENS CIVIC SQUARE

		1st: A + B 8th: A + B

Tips:

-	To save time jump from the lower level ramps rather than running along them.
The Spartan will not sustain damage.

-	Once a wave of foes have been killed the next will IMMEDIATELY spawn.

-	After killing Archers the Bodyguards MUST also be killed. If the Bodyguards
are left alive they will move to Archimedes' location and attack.

-	The 5th wave (two Assassins) is problematic as they will spawn while the
Spartan fights the 4th wave on the rooftop. To stop them from killing
Archimedes, quickly climb down the ladder and use the Gorgon's Shield. Then
run to their location and attack. This will draw the Assassins away from
	Archimedes.

Objective:	Find help at the Bacchus Inn + Prevent Romans From Entering
---------	the Square

NOTE!	If needing to use a Shrine during the next three Objectives, use the
	following:

1.	Health + Power Shrine located with Chest on rooftop in the eastern section
of Athens. Accessible via a ramp and ladder.

2.	The Health Shrine to the west of the Bacchus Inn. Move west down the street,
turn right and the Shrine is located ahead in a corner.

	* DO NOT USE THE OTHER SHRINES AS THEY WILL BE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE ESCORT
ARCHIMEDES OBJECTIVE. THIS IS VITAL. *

Burn all Roman houses; locate all posters; collect Bonus Items and a set of
arrows FIRST.

DO NOT use the arrows until needing to stop the Spies in the next Objective.

Follow the Spartans and kill the Romans, but DO NOT use ROTG as the Shrines
will be needed for a later Objective. Watch for single Romans breaking away
from the main group.

If needing to heal use the Health Shrine located on the rooftop in the Eastern
part of the city. A Power Shrine and Chest are also located here.

Objective:	Prevent the Spies from reaching the Safe House
---------

IMMEDIATELY move to the Southern exit from the Square and use the Radar to
track the Spy's location. After killing the first Spy, remain in the Western
part of the city - specifically THREE alleys, one of which is separated from
the others by a side street.

Use the Radar and kill Spies as they approach, but DO NOT engage their
Bodyguards unless time permits. If a Spy is near a Safehouse, auto-aim and use
the Bow for a quick kill.

Objective:	Kill all remaining Romans
---------

To prevent any loss in Health - which will be needed for the next mission -
locate a street with a platform and a ladder and climb up.
Wait for the Romans to follow and SHIELD BASH them off the roof for an
instant kill.

Kill the Archers and if needing Health use the Health Shrine located in the
Western corner of a small connecting street directly BEHIND Athens Civic
Square.

Objective:	Escort Archimedes to Safety
---------

The Spartan MUST begin this mission with two full Power tanks and ideally
full Health.

DO NOT run ahead and attempt to kill all the Patrols as this will spawn a
group of six Assassins that will kill Archimedes in seconds.

1st PATROL:

Equip the GORGON'S SHIELD and follow Archimedes and leave Athens Civic Square.
Stone the approaching Patrol walking around the corner ONCE the Assassin is in
sight.

Equip the BLADES OF ATHENA and shatter the Assassin FIRST, then the Centurions
and use Rage on the Legionnaires. Some will recover and run at Archimedes so
attack them from behind. Try and collect all the Power pick-ups.

ON ROUTE:

Keep the BLADES OF ATHENA equipped and once Archimedes stops to catch his
breath, run around the corner and kill the three Romans. Do so quickly as
Archimedes will start moving again. Equip DEATH BITER and follow.

2nd PATROL:

WAIT until Archimedes has reached the door and the Patrol are close to him.
Use ROTG and DEATH BITER, which will kill everyone except the Praetorian
Carnifex and Praetorian Legionary. Then equip BLADES OF ATHENA and roll and
counterattack until both are killed.

ON ROUTE:

Archimedes will move towards the west and then pause. Take this opportunity to
use the Health Shrine in the north-west corner ahead.

3rd PATROL:

Once Archimedes sees the Romans and thinks he's sneaked past successfully,
run ahead around the corner and use the Power Shrine in the north-west corner.

4th PATROL:

The Patrol will be directly behind the Spartan as he finishes recharging.
Equip and use the GORGON'S SHIELD IMMEDIATELY and stone the Patrol. Equip the
BLADES OF ATHENA and shatter the Assassins.

Quickly move back to Archimedes, who by this stage is also around the corner
at a door. The 3rd Patrol would have been just about to attack him when stoned.
Equip the GORGON'S SHIELD and shatter as many as possible with RADIAL SHIELD
BASH and use Rage. Stay right beside Archimedes, as at this point he is usually
cowering in the corner.

Equip the BLADES OF ATHENA and roll and counterstrike to kill any remaining
foes.

ON ROUTE:

Archimedes will now move up a ramp to a Safe House which has been compromised.

5th PATROL:

Equip the BLADES OF ATHENA and kill as many Romans as possible as they exit
the two doors, then jump off the ramp and attack as they also jump and land.

DO NOT use ROTG if a Power Tank is charged as it will be needed against the
next Patrol.

Attack any Romans that run towards Archimedes from behind, and draw the Romans
away from him.

ON ROUTE:

Archimedes will now move down the street to the east and ask for
directions. Take this opportunity to use the Health and Power Shrines further
east.

NOTE! GAME GLITCH:

Archimedes occasionally skips the Safehouse and will go immediately on to
ask for directions. This will mean that the Spartan must deal with the
5th and 6th Patrol simultaneously.

6th PATROL:

Once Archimedes walks around the corner into the Patrol, equip DEATH BITER
and use ROTG. Then equip the GORGON'S SHIELD and use.
Equip the BLADES OF ATHENA and shatter the Praetorian Legionnaires and then
kill the Praetorian Carnifex.

ON ROUTE:

Archimedes will stop at the corner and refuse to continue until it is safe.
Use the Power Shrine on the ramp in the south-west corner.

7th PATROL:

Jump down and use the BOW OF POWER to auto-aim on the explosive. Detonate
and quickly switch to the SPEAR OF ACHILLES and use ROTG. Set the Romans on
fire and use Rage to kill as many of the weaker opponents as is possible.
Then equip the BLADES OF ATHENA and kill the Praetorian Carnifexes.

ON ROUTE:

Providing Archimedes has not strayed too far, it is possible to run up the
southern ramp and climb the ladder and use the Health Shrine.
Guide Archimedes to the eastern gate where he will decide to run for it.

8th PATROL:

Equip the BOW OF POWER and kill as many Romans as is possible.
Then run back up the ramp to the ladder and climb up. As the Romans follow
equip the GORGON'S SHIELD and SHIELD BASH them all off the edge for an instant
kill. Use the Health Shrine if still present.

NOTE!

This is possible if almost all the Romans follow the Spartan. The Romans will
also attempt to break down the door of Archimedes' Safe House, but if only
1-2 attempt this there will still be time to kill both groups and finish the
mission.

------------------------------

ACT 3, Chapter 1: Revolution
		  ----------

EIGHTH UPGRADE: 5 Tokens - Damage (for a maximum of 10)

Objective:	Save the Prisoners
---------

Follow Castor and Pollux and use the Gorgon's Shield on entering Athens Civic
Square. Kill the Praetorian on the platform.

Use the Gorgon's Shield once more and then kick over all the braziers around
the platform. Then kill all the Romans with SHIELD BASH and Rage.

Burn all Roman houses; locate all posters; collect Bonus Items and a set of
arrows BEFORE joining Castor and Pollux.

NOTE!	The two secrets that can be acquired on this level - Agrippa and the Wife
Quest - can be time consuming as the characters spawn randomly. It may
take several return visits before the Spartan can find them.

Objective:	Protect the Sisters of the Resistance;
---------
		Meet your allies;

		Meet your contact;

		Get Acrisius' Key;

		Unlock the Shrine;

		Free the Prisoners;

		Kill all Romans;

		Don't let the prisoners die

The Radar will guide the Spartan to the Sisters. In addition to the Romans
harassing the Sisters will be random patrols and Archers. Deal with all
WITHOUT using ROTG.

NOTE!	Use the Rage Potion when needed attacked by the largest patrol as it
will disappear if unused once the last Sister has been rescued.

After obtaining the key use the Shrines in Archimedes' Safe House and in the
city if needed. After unlocking the Shrine, check the path to the prison BEFORE
using the Invisibility Potion. Then use the Potion and IMMEDIATELY run through
the Prison and light the fuses on the explosives.

Use ROTG and the Spear of Achilles. Collect as many Power pick-ups as possible.
Kill the Carnifex when appearing. Follow up with the Gorgon's Shield and Rage
if necessary. As the Romans respawn it is possible to recharge both Power
tanks at this stage.

Objective:	Follow Castor and Pollux to the Ambush Point
---------

Run IMMEDIATELY to Athens Civic Square and got to the left of the fallen statue
rather than around the Square with the others. Run around the corner and use
ROTG and the Spear of Achilles to quickly kill three Romans.
Collect the Bonus Item and join the group.

Objective:	Obtain the key and enter the Mansion's Gardens
---------

Use ROTG and the Spear of Achilles and target the Carnifexes.
Follow with SHIELD BASH and Rage. Collect the key.

Objective:	Kill Sejanus
---------

NOTE!	As soon as a purple cloud to begins to materialise above the Spartan RUN
	as it emanate fireballs.

NOTE!	Listen for the tell-tale hum of Sejanus' lightning attack and block.
Try and place foes in the path of the attack as they will catch fire.

FIRST COURTYARD:

Kick over the braziers and use the pillars as cover.

Attack foes from behind whenever possible.

If fighting Carnifexes draw them out on the street and then kill.

DO NOT use ROTG as it will be needed in the next area.

Use the Health Shrine AFTER clearing the area.

Collect the Fire Arrows from the Chest LAST.

SECOND COURTYARD:

Use the Fire Arrows from the safety of the first courtyard.

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG.

When possible move to the right, use the Bow to auto-aim and target the
explosive to kill the Archers.

SHIELD BASH and use Rage to clear the area.

Use the walls as cover from Sejanus' lightning attack.

Once the next set of gates are open, use the Health Shrine.

THIRD COURTYARD:

Draw Carnifexes down to the second courtyard to kill.

Constantly use RADIAL SHIELD BASH followed by Rage and then retreat.

Wait until most of the Romans are occupied and then while blocking run to the
Shrines in the corner. Block the Archers' attacks when needed.

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG, targeting the Archers first.

Equip the Blades of Athena and kill any remaining Romans.

Collect the arrows from the Chest.

FOURTH COURTYARD:

SHIELD BASH the Archers off the roof.

Use RADIAL SHIELD BASH followed by Rage to reduce numbers.

Equip the Blades of Athena and deal with the Romans the civilians are attacking.

Confront Sejanus to trigger a cutscene and end the level.

------------------------------

ACT 3, Chapter 2: The Eye of Apollo
		  -----------------

NINTH UPGRADE: 5 Tokens - Power

Objective:	Expose the Crystals
---------

SAVE ROTG.

Collect and SAVE a quiver of arrows.

SHIELD BASH the Romans on the inner ramps off the edge.

Equip the Blades of Athena when fighting foes in the courtyards.
Attack the Romans fighting Castor and Pollux from behind.

Once again, try and place foes between the Spartan and Sejanus' lightning
attack.

Use the Shrines before going to the roof

NOTE!	This level introduces the Roman Inferni. When they appear outside the
third courtyard, use the Gorgon's Shield to stone and shatter them.
When they appear in the fourth courtyard, use the Bow and attack until
	they run and explode.

Objective:	Go to the Roof and Activate the four remaining Crystals
---------

Wait until the Inferni are visible and use the Gorgon's Shield.
Shatter the Inferni and as many of the weaker Romans as possible.
Collect Power pick-ups.

Run around the platform to where another Inferni will be visible and draw the
Romans in. Use the Gorgon's Shield and stone and shatter the last Inferni and
again as many of the weaker Romans as is possible.

Equip the Blades of Athena and kill the remaining Romans.

NOTE!	Use the Health Shrine BEFORE operating the Lightning Gun.

Objective:	Shoot Down Ladon
---------

Fire just ahead of the Ladon for an accurate hit

NOTE!	When the Ladon shoots fireballs target these as they are damaging.
	WATCH the Spartan's Health bar.

When Castor gives a warning, climb off the Lightning Gun and jump off the back
of the ramp. Kill the Romans as they jump down and follow.
Use RADIAL SHIELD BASH to try and avoid being hit.
Collect Power pick-ups to recharge a Power Tank.

Objective:	Kill Sejanus
---------

Stay away from the fight until Sejanus summons the purple cloud, as he will
always cast the spell in the Spartan's location.

Try and attack when Sejanus is occupied with Electra.

Equip the Blades of Athena and ROLL as soon as Sejanus starts to move toward
the Spartan. At the beginning of Sejanus' attack sequence he will lift his
sword which will flash purple. Sejanus' back will then be exposed.
Strike 2-3 times then retreat.

------------------------------

ACT 3, Chapter 3: The Gates of Saturn
		  -------------------

TENTH UPGRADE: 5 Tokens - Power	(for a maximum of 10)

Objective:	Blow up the 1st and 2nd Ballista;
---------	Destroy the Sally Ports

WAIT 5-6 seconds until the catapult has discharged. Once a Spartan shouts
"Charge!" run in a diagonal line behind the rocks to the explosive behind
the house. Light and retreat to the trees behind.
Kill the burning Romans and collect the Bonus Item.

Once "Charge!" is heard again run in a straight line across to the back of
the second house. Enter and kill the two Romans. Destroy the sally ports.
Collect the Bonus Item from the rear of the battlefield and join Castor.

Objective:	Protect the Sappers
---------

Once inside the fortress run to the top of the stairs and SHIELD BASH the
Archers off the rampart. Stay on the rampart and kill the Romans until the
first Sappers reach the top of the stairs. Use the Gorgon's Shield to stone the
Romans and shatter the Infernus first. By repeating this twice and combining
SHIELD BASH all four Sappers should reach the end point.

DO NOT light the fuse yet. Collect a quiver of arrows and kill the Archers on
the opposing side of the moat. Use the Health Shrine if needed.
Use RADIAL SHIELD BASH and Rage to collect enough Power pick-ups to recharge
all three Power Tanks. Then light the fuse.

Objective:	Kill the Carnifexes
---------

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG followed by Rage. Collect as many
Power pick-ups as possible to repeat. Once only a handful of Praetorian
Guards remain equip the Blades of Athena and kill them.
Equip a quiver of arrows if needed.

NOTE!	DO NOT kill the last Roman until having used the Shrines as it will
trigger a cut scene that places the Spartan in the next area.

Use the Gorgon's Shield and stone and shatter as many Undead as is possible.
Collect the Power pick-ups and use a Power Shrine if necessary.
Then WAIT until the Romans join the fight. Use the Gorgon's Shield again
and target the Inferni and Carnifex Legionnaires. Then equip the Spear of
Achilles and use ROTG and Rage. Repeat and then equip the Blades of Athena
and kill the remainder. Use the Shrines before exiting.

Attack and retreat against the three Romans by the tower until dead. Use the
Bow to kill the Infernus, being sure to retreat once he ignites.
Repeat on the Infernus at the top of the stairs.

Climb the ladder and SHIELD BASH the Roman off. Pull the lever and wait on
the platform. SHIELD BASH the climbing Romans off for an instant kill.
Collect the Bonus Item and continue.

SHIELD BASH the Romans off the edge of the ramparts. Watch for Romans exiting
from doors behind the Spartan.

Objective:	Kill the Priestess
---------

NOTE!	Health is ALWAYS raised to maximum when about to fight a Priestess so
do not waste the Health Shrines. All three Power tanks are recharged
at the end of the battle.

NOTE!	STAY in the middle of the platform by the fire as much as is possible.
This minimises the chance of being knocked off the ledge when a
Priestess charges in with a forcefield up. Note that the Priestesses
will ALWAYS charge in after raising their forcefield.

ALWAYS use the Bow and target and kill Inferni first. Stay back if they leap
onto the main platform.

Attack the Priestesses AFTER they have fired a volley of three energy blasts as
their forcefield will be down.

Collect a quiver of arrows and use the Health Shrines before leaving.

Objective:	Kill the Second Priestess
---------

SHIELD BASH the waiting Romans off the edge of the ramparts. Alternatively
Carnifexes can be drawn away individually and killed with the Blades of
Athena.

Bait the two Inferni on the upper ramp into firing and then retreat.
Immediately charge them after the attack and SHIELD BASH them off the edge.

Kill the Second Priestess as per suggestions.

Use the Health Shrine and open the gate.

Objective:	Kill the Carnifexes
---------

NOTE!	DO NOT use all Power Tanks in this area as they will be needed prior to
	fighting the next Priestess.

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG and Rage ONCE. Use the Shrines if
needed.

SHIELD BASH the Archers off the upper ramparts and collect a quiver of Arrows.

Join Castor and kill all foes. Have the Gorgon's Shield equipped.

Objective:	Kill the Third Priestess
---------

IMMEDIATELY use the Gorgon's Shield and ROTG. Stone and shatter the Infernus
and one group of Archers.

WAIT behind the corner of the wall until the second Infernus appears and reuse
the Gorgon's Shield and apply the same tactic.

Equip the Bow and target the next Infernus. Then equip the Blades of Athena
and kill the remaining Romans.

Kill the Third Priestess as per suggestions.

Objective:	Kill the Final Priestess
---------

Collect a quiver of arrows and the Bonus Item on the walkway over the broken
railing first.

Kill the Final Priestess as per suggestions. As the Priestess splits into three
forms in this round be sure to stay by the fire in the middle of the platform
and roll as soon as they begin to charge the Spartan.

Objective:	Kill Undead Sejanus
---------

NOTE!	The best time to attack Sejanus is immediately AFTER his lightning
	attack.

Wait near the Romans on the bridge and retreat once Sejanus summons a purple
cloud. The fireballs should kill the Romans.

SHIELD BASH the Archers off the edge of the rampart.

Wait by the Undead on the bridge and retreat once Sejanus summons a purple
cloud. Retreat and the fireballs will kill the Undead. Keep repeating this
tactic to kill all Undead.

Use the Gorgon's Shield and then Rage against Sejanus. Repeat twice followed by
SHIELD BASH and a physical attack.

------------------------------

ACT 3, Chapter 4: Death and Circuses
		  ------------------

Take the passage to the right first. Collect the Bonus Item and run back past
the Romans. Use the two corners at the entry point to surprise them and
whittle down their numbers.

Take the left passage and trigger the attack by the three Assassins.
SHIELD BASH them off the edge of the platform.

NOTE!	prince_khorne's "Guide" is incorrect as the poison gas does NOT kill
	the Assassins.

Bypass the gas, cross the planks and trigger the attack by a Roman patrol.
Run back over the planks and standing on the other side SHIELD BASH all foes
off the edge.

Collect the Fire Arrows and blow up the explosive.

Archers: Use the Gorgon's Shield, then use the Bow and auto-aim on the
explosives for a quick kill. SHIELD BASH the Archer near the Spartan off the
edge.

When the two Carnifexes attack, race back across the planks and SHIELD
BASH them off the edge as they cross.

Collect the Fire Arrows and use on the Gladiators. SHIELD BASH any
remaining foes off the edge and collect the key.

Collect the Rage Potion and attack the Romans. When it wears off equip the
Spear of Achilles and use ROTG and Rage twice.
Then Equip the Blades of Athena and kill the remainder.

Protect the Spartan Swordsman and SHIELD BASH the Romans off the edge
(unfortunately he dies around the corner in the gas).

Move to the ballista and trigger the Roman attack. Run back over the planks
and SHIELD BASH all foes off the edge.

Return and stand in front of the Ballista and block. Some of the Assassins
will be killed by the Ballista from behind. SHIELD BASH the rest off the
edge. Run behind the Ballista and kill the Roman.

Activate the lever and enter the area with the open fire to trigger an
attack by four Assassins. Return to the platform with the lever and
SHIELD BASH them off the edge.

Use the Ballista to kill the Romans. Physically smash the crates to collect
the Power pick-ups.

Draw the group of fighting Romans/Gladiators across the planks and
SHIELD BASH them off the edge.

Use the Shrines if necessary and then draw the final group of Romans and
Gladiators back to the planks and SHIELD BASHA them off the edge.

Kill the Gladiator and two Archers; collect the Bonus Item and arrows and move
into the keg room. Turn off all the drink and then equip the Spear of Achilles
and use ROTG and Rage.

Move to the exit and attack the waiting Romans THEN RETREAT. Keep doing so
until killed. Use the Shrines in this area.

Wait until the Romans and the Gladiators fighting in the next room have been
killed and then run past them up the stairs and kill the Archers. SHIELD
BASH the remaining foes off the edge as they approach.

Equip and use the Gorgon's Shield and ROTG. Shatter the Inferni and use Rage.
Then equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG and Rage.
Collect the Power pick-ups and use the Shrines before the next wave attacks.
Repeat with the Spear of Achilles and collect the key.

Use the Shrine; light the fuse; and carefully move down through the gas to kill
the Archers. Attack with the Bow between their volleys. Collect the Bonus Item.

Free the Spartans and use the Spear of Achilles with ROTG to kill the Gigantes.
Then use RADIAL SHIELD BASH from behind on remaining foes.
Use the Shrines and then pull the lever.

Objective:	Kill the Minotaur
---------

Contrary to prince_khorne's "Guide", this fight is very straight forward.

Ignore the Minotaur and pursuing Romans and find the Bonus Item FIRST.

Find the Minotaur and use the Spear of Achilles and ROTG. The Minotaur will
recover just as the Spartan achieves Rage and pick him up and throw him.
Quickly run back and use Rage. Repeat three times for a kill.

RADIAL SHIELD BASH the Romans to collect Power pick-ups if needing to
recharge the Power tanks.

Occasionally Assassins will appear. Equip the Blades of Athena to kill, but
REMEMBER to watch for the Minotaur.

NOTE!	Hide behind pillars when the Minotaur picks up a Roman as he will
throw the Romans at the Spartan.

ACT 3, Chapter 5: The Gods of Battle
		  ------------------

Objective:	Electra needs your help
---------

Immediately run around the second corner on the left and retrieve the Bonus
Item. Then run at a straight diagonal over to the Romans surrounding Electra.
Equip Deathbiter and use POTG for a quick kill.

Objective:	Save Castor
---------

Run back along the edge of the Colosseum, and block when Romans attack.
Run inside up the stairs until at Castor's location. Quickly kill the Romans
and then move to the far side of the room and kill the Archers.

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG. Collect the Power pick-ups. Use
SHIELD BASH to push any remaining Romans off the edge of the platform.

NOTE!	The Power Shrine that can be seen on the other side of the locked
gate can in fact be used from this side if necessary.

Another wave of Romans will arrive downstairs. STAY at the top of the stairs
and use the Spear of Achilles for it's reach to kill the Romans as they are
coming up. When too many are on the stairs, use ROTG and descend, collecting
Power pick-ups.

Follow Castor through the gate, and race past the Romans and Gladiators to
the Health Shrine in the next room. Use and then equip the Spear of Achilles
and use ROTG. Collect the Power pick-ups. Once the Power tanks have been
expended use RADIAL SHIELD BASH and Rage.

Once all the Romans have been killed collect the Fire Arrows and detonate
the explosive.

Use the Power Shrine and collect the Bonus Item. Open the gate and use the
Shrines before entering the Arena.

The Arena
---------

1ST WAVE:

Equip the Blades of Athena and jump down. DO NOT use ROTG yet.

Stay against the wall and attack foes from behind. Use the RARAR technique
to kill the entire wave.

NOTE! If needing to use a Health Shrine do so BEFORE killing the
last foe as it will trigger the second wave. This will
		happen with each successive wave.

2ND WAVE:

Run around the arena and use the RARAR technique intermittedly.

3RD WAVE:

Wait until the Assassins and Inferni are close and then use the Gorgon's
Shield. Stone and shatter the Inferni and use Rage against the Assassins.
Equip the Blades of Athena and kill them.

NOTE!	DO NOT use Deathbiter and ROTG as while it will kill all foes,
one of the Inferni will always explode near the Spartan.

4TH WAVE:

Repeat.

5TH WAVE:

Repeat.

6TH WAVE:

Equip the Bow of Power and target the Inferni IMMEDIATELY. One MUST be
killed by the gate to allow entry to the next area. Equip the Blades of
Athena and kill the remainder. Use the Shrines and leave the area.

NOTE!	DO NOT attempt to save Shrines for the fight against Ares
as only the allocated two will appear.

------------------------------

Equip the Spear of Achilles and use ROTG to kill the Romans, collecting
Power pick-ups. Use the stairs to slow the Romans and move to the upper
level.

NOTE!	It is possible to kill most of the Romans by collecting the
Fire Arrows and positioning the Spartan just outside the door
	they spawn from.

NOTE!	Once the civilians open the gate, it is possible to repeat this
tactic by waiting just outside for the Romans to exit. Equip the
Blades of Athena and attack the Romans as they exit and with
	repeated kills use Rage.

Use the RARAR technique to kill the remaining foes, collect the Bonus
Item and use the Shrine.

Ascend the stairs and smash the crates and jump over. Archers will spawn
once on the other side of the gate so block when necessary. Use the Shrine.
Find the stairs and move down, using the Shrine on the right if necessary.

Equip the Gorgon's Shield and use it on entering the far room with the
group of Assassins/Romans and Archers. Race behind the first group and
after lighting the explosive, run out of the room. After the explosion
retrieve the Bonus Item; Arrows and use the Shrines.

Ascend up the broken floor and confront Tiberius. After the cutscene
the Spartan returns to the arena to confront Ares.

Objective:	Kill Ares
---------

1st Stage:
---------

Ares will attack physically with sword and shield. Equip the Blades of Athena
and CONSTANTLY block.

After each attack by Ares BASH him twice and then attack 1-2 times, NO MORE.
Then wait for the next attack and repeat.

NOTE!	Whenever possible, keep repeating this tactic. If Ares is taking
taking too much damage he will pick up and throw the Spartan. As
this DOES NOT cause damage, run back to Ares and continue to attack.

After taking some damage Ares will create two duplicates of himself. WATCH
carefully to see which are the duplicates - if moving in and striking
quickly it is possible to dissolve one duplicate immediately. BLOCK and
WAIT for the duplicates to attack, then counter attack to dissolve.

2nd Stage:
---------

Ares will now animate minions from the bodies from the arena. WATCH which
foes are animated. The more problematic foes such as Assassins; Archers;
Inferni and Sappers will be amongst the group.

Kill ARCHERS first and then target INFERNI and SAPPERS. It is possible that
an Infernus/Sapper about to explode will kill most foes.

NOTE!	Use arrows where possible for quick kills. Look for dropped quivers
	and collect.

NOTE!	WATCH for the Health pick-ups that some foes drop. Shuffle to them
	while blocking.

WATCH Ares to check if he creates duplicates while fighting the minions.

3rd Stage:
---------

Once the minions are destroyed, Ares will create a column of flame along
the ground. Quickly jump the flame just before it strikes and run at Ares.
He will be occupied controlling the flame and the Spartan will be able to
score at least four blows. Ares may pick up and throw the Spartan and then
create the column of flame again. Repeat the same tactic.

NOTE!	Try and stay as close to Ares as is possible during this stage
as after this he will animate several waves of minions.

4th Stage:
---------

Ares will use a combination of duplicates; minions and columns of flame.

NOTE!	Run behind the pillars when necessary to disperse foes.

NOTE!	DO NOT use the Spear of Achilles and ROTG against Ares as he will
	simply remain in blocking mode.

NOTE!	DO NOT use the Gorgon's Shield and then attempt to attack Ares as
he will recover after one blow. ONLY use the Gorgon's Shield when
needing to shatter minions for Healh pick-ups.

Weapon Choice:
-------------

Against Ares - Blades of Athena

Ares + minions - Normal arrows + Bow of Power's Radial attack

Minions - The Blades of Athena for quick kills

**	Using the Arrow-targeted Explosives is extremely hazardous
as Allied Archers can accidently detonate them while the
	Spartan is nearby.

Tactics
-------

Contrary to what is suggested in prince_khorne's "Guide", the score component
of the Arena is irrelevant. The goal is SURVIVAL - to last the full 10 rounds.
The following are suggestions for maximising the Spartan's chances.

-	Use all items except the Arrow-Targeted Explosives

-	Constantly BLOCK! Ideally, the Spartan should not require the Health
Shrines until at least Round 5

-	WATCH for red arrows on screen as it means a foe is targeting
	the Spartan

-	Equip the BLADES OF ATHENA as the Spartan's main weapon. The
	RARAR technique is invaluable

-	Use of the SPEAR OF ACHILLES is ONLY practical once ALL
	Archers have been killed

-	Use Arrows from a distance as it exposes the Spartan

-	Each Round will end with the death of the last foe, so if needing
to use Shrines, be sure to leave one foe alive. Use SHIELD BASH
to keep them off guard, use the Shrines, and then kill the foe.

-	Once all Archers have been killed, large groups can be whittled down
by running in circles around the Arena. Occasionally foes will be
separated from the group for an easy kill or alternatively have their
back to the Spartan if there is a sudden change of direction.

ROUNDS 1-2:

-	Let the Allies engage the enemy. Move down the sides of the Arena and
	attack foes from behind.

ROUND 3:

-	Block and shuffle to the foes and note the location of the Archers.
Use the Gorgon's Shield. Then attack with the Blades of Athena but only
use Rage once foes shake off the effect. Repeat and use the RARAR
technique. Use the Power Shrines BEFORE killing the last foe. Some support
from the Allied Archers may still be possible on this round.

ROUNDS 4-5:

-	Move to the Explosive Kegs and draw the foes in. Then use the
Gorgon's Shield. Once all foes are stoned, light the fuse and
run. Return once the Keg explodes to collect the Power pick-ups. Finish
	with the RARAR technique.

ROUNDS 6-7:

-	Kick over the Braziers and block and shuffle. Keep drawing foes
through the flames. Try and SHIELD BASH Archers into the flames.
Once the main force has been killed, target the stray foes.

ROUND 8:

-	Use the Invisibility Potion and kill ALL Archers. Follow with use
of the SPEAR OF ACHILLES and collect the Power pick-ups. Use the RARAR
	technique on the remaining foes.

ROUND 9:

-	Move to the location of the Vial of Rage and draw the foes in. Note
the location of the Archers and wait for the next volley. Immediately
afterwards use the Vial and target them. Then use the RARAR technique.

ROUND 10:

-	Constantly block and use the RARAR technique. By this stage only 1 strike
before rolling again will be safe. Whittle down the group and then place
some distance between the Spartan and foes. Use all Arrows available at
	periodic intervals.
